Well my opinion has changed since July 12th when I posted the above quote. So needless to say I'm keeping my now 8 year relationship with Sprint intact. Mostly because my service over the past two weeks has improved drastically. Could my consist slow speeds have been caused by a faulty device? The reason I ask is because about a week in half ago I dropped my phone (iPhone5) to the point where I had to use my AppleCare protection to get a new one. Well since I've had this new iPhone, I'm getting LTE speeds way more often and my 3G speeds are averaging about a 1mbps. So I'm thinking my problem may have been my phone after all. Opinions?
Interesting....It could have been your phone, and it could have just been that there wasnt any NV upgrades done in your area yet. But I do know that since the Softbank deal closed their pace has improved dramatically. I am actually impressed and have been picking up LTE in all over in places that I have not before...I'm even almost" kinda" getting it in my apartment. It switches back and forth and waterford has LTE in some places now.
Its coming along, but like I said, now that the whole deal is out of the way, they have some extra cash to play with, and I guess the people that were causing delays with backhaul or whatever else it might have been, are finally getting their butts in gear and Sprint is finally able to move at the pace they had intended. It shouldn't be too long now. They just launched 41 markets today, and they are big markets too...not tiny little pesky towns like ATT and Verizon do for extra bragging rights in what they call "market coverage" lol..

Well this is a disappointment.. So apparently the Daytona area launched? I looked on the map and there's a small purple cloud over my house(figures) but the parts showing LTE coverage in port orange are a total and complete lie..
Looks like they added a bunch more to south florida also. The orange now extends all the way across the state. (not that that map is accurate in any way)....And Daytona is infact lit up. They are literally surrounding Orlando with LTE....but not letting us have any.
Whyyyyyyyyyy...must be saving the best for last.

This happened in my apartment. 1 bar and LTE. It popped right out of LTE and went into searching for about 5 seconds. Switched over to I guess, a different frequency and then I got the circle, and then 3G showed up. Lol first time I almost got usable LTE in my apartment ????

Bottom line is that at some point when 1900 is fully rolled out, it will start to get really crowded and slow down. 2600 will have a very large amount of capacity and will provide much faster LTE to those whose phones support it.

In layman's terms.. Fatter pipe but less coverage on the higher frequency. It will benefit everyone even with older phones as newer phones will use the additional capacity.
Good point, long term even those who don't have triband support will at least see 1900 ease up since 2600 will help offload a lot of traffic.
That answered my question. It's good that they are working on multiple solutions to one problem.

Only phone that we "know" to have support for Clearwire frequencies is the LG G2 if I'm not mistaken. The next iPhone might, but that's pure speculation on my part.

Interesting.....Is there a benefit to the clear-wire frequency as opposed to their existing ones in terms of like range, or anything else.....? It obviously means more coverage, but if no phones can use it...errrrr

That has me wishing I hadn't had to get a new phone 3 months before my upgrade and only months away from the new iphone...Oh well..sigh.
Thanks njjdnt

Will the iPhone 5 work on the clear-wire spectrum?? I am just curious because I was reading up and it says that the new spectrums are not supported with most of sprints phones.....which would piss me off at an astronomical level.

Come on Sprint! You know you want to be the #1 provider in the country! Lets do it

Funny cause I was with my friend who has AT&T and he had LTE also, but his speed test barely made it above 2 mb down.that area is showing up as dark purple on sensorly, so judging that and your speed test, I'd say you were quite close to an active tower

Just looked it up on maps, it was Alohma and tuskawilla. Really good data connection. ????Was it in front of a Publix and right next door to a Mellow Mushroom?
If it was you were on Aloma Ave and close to Lakemont Ave.

Got this over in winter park near the dunkin donuts over there. I have no idea what road we were on as I'm still new to the area

Just drove down e colonial where I would usually have LTE the entire way to goldenrod.... And nothing? Uh oh

OK so I'm at the lake Underhill and alafaya tower and it is not live yet but it was accepted. There are people working on the cabinets right now. Should be live in a few days.
This.This.This. x 150 thousand trillions. That tower needs to get up and running. Especially since there is a sprint store in the waterford town center....Kinda dumb to try and sell a service and not have,, ya know...service? LOL

Well.... With Waterford having a lot of people... I sure hope they supercharge that tower lolIt's more an implication that it's likely a shared tower, but I don't know that for sure.

wait, so the more "racks" the more juice a single tower can pump out? That is A LOT of racks. And we could probably spot our fellow S4GRU members just by looking for dudes obsessively taking photos of cell towers.

AHA! I'll be back in a few days. That tower covers the Waterford town center and my apartment is 1 second away from the la fitness over there. I'm excited!OK so I'm at the lake Underhill and alafaya tower and it is not live yet but it was accepted. There are people working on the cabinets right now. Should be live in a few days.

i know it's killing me now. On the bright side gardens has scattered LTE . Seems to be slower down here than Orlando thoughLol all this waiting and your not even home to try it ahaha.

lte alerts??? What are these alerts you speak ofMan in the past 15 minutes sitting at home my phone's LTE alert just keeps going off.
Must have been 4 different times. It will be nice once the LTE stays on.

I am seeing more and more of this word. "Active" me gusta

where at?Mapped about 270ish new points of LTE, should be appearing soon.
-
If it helps at all, that site has received no NV upgrades to date. So what you are seeing is the state of the legacy network
Oh...Well...then I .....

This tower over by me must be really overloaded on a daily basis. I get such varying speed tests. Just a second ago I did a speed test and got 198 ping, .46 download and .46 upload.....and I just did another one to "see" and got a ping of 363, 0.00 download and 0.00 upload....
And another with a (null) test failed. Sigh lol
Another edit: just looked and saw that they have done 4 speed upgrades on the tower on lake underhill and alafaya...
