  1. Went down the VoEnabler rabbit hole and found that the module is no longer available in the Magisk Official Repo and therefore not available in the Magisk app.

So, found the original git, downloaded and repacked it and manually installed it and it seems to be working on Android 9 with eSIM.

Here's a link to the repacked module. Copy do device. and manually install from the Magisk App, reboot. Not responsible for any damaged, errors, etc. by using this on your device.

  2. Have people been able to maintain a steady connection with this router? It keeps disconnecting me from the Internet and is really slow at times. My Apple Time Capsule has a much more stable connection.

Also, since I do have 2 routers, should I set up the Asus as an access point? Unfortunately, I cannot place it in a room other than the one the Time Capsule is in but if I put the Time Capsule on one band and the Asus on another, that should minimize interference right? Is it even worth it if the routers are going to be placed right next to each other?

If the routers will be in the same room, I'd remove the Time Capsule from the equation all together and see if the stability improves on the ASUS.

If not, then making sure the Time Capsule and the ASUS are on non-overlapping channels would also work to eliminate interference.

Setting the ASUS up as an AP will simplify the routing in your network. Instead of devices connected to the ASUS getting a 192.168.27.XXX address, they'll get one in the same subnet as other devices connected to the router behind the ASUS.

  3. To display and turn on AP Mode see the attached image for the section of code that you should comment out (the Green section of code).

I used Chrome's Developer Tools to do it.

The change doesn't persist outside of that page. If you navigate away from that page and return, it will load the page without the commented section and the AP Mode option won't be available.

  4. For the guys who want to run this router in ap mode the option is hidden in the web code. If you're good with your browsers developer console you can change it from hidden to active by delete the hidden/disabled tag in the code. I did it with chrome with the developer tools. Also media bridge and repeater mode seem to be present but don't work correctly when when enabled. It goes to a unknown page like it's not even in the firmware. I'm going to try more to open the router up but I would like to eventually flash merlin on it so everything is enabled and more. This is essentially a ac66 with hard core tools locked down.

That's done easily enough. Thanks for the info.

Getting some custom firmware on this device would be ideal.

  5. Have to do manual setup to get that option. Otherwise it will keep asking for the wan port connection. I did lan to lan setup, set the asus lan ip to 192.168.1.2. On the main router set the start of dhcp lease to 192.168.1.8

This is the information I needed.

Wanted to forward all DHCP and DNS responsibilities to the main router in the house. Assuming this configurations allows this?

  6. Just got mine set up. It appears there is no way to prioritize internet access by device. I know wifi calling is highest priority but I was hoping to be able to prioritize my Fire TV and Chromecast just below the wifi calling. If I'm missing it and someone figures out how to do it, let me know.

Edit: I download the user manual for the ASUS RT-AC66u, which this router is based on. It appears Sprint removed the QoS options, which is why I couldn't find them.

I have my home network completely set up now. It looks like the whole house now has good wifi, with one router at the front and one at the back of the house. :)

I put my second router in 5GHz only mode. I also connected my PS3 directly to that router so now I literally have only one device that needs 2.4GHz, and that's my Chromecast. Maybe Google will release a new one this year at I/O and I can shut off 2.4 completely to free up more bandwidth in my neighborhood. 2.4 is pretty full around me.

One setup tip. If you leave Smart connect on, which is where it will automatically switch wifi bands, you can't pick the channel you want to use on either band. I had to disable that feature to be able to pick which wifi channels I wanted to use. The auto feature put my 5GHz band on the only occupied channel in my neighborhood. I guess auto doesn't work to find empty channels.

Is it possible to run this router in AP mode?

  7. Hello Ladies and Gentlemen.

As the title states, I'm curious how I could get into the field of Mobile Broadband.

I'm currently studying iIT (Integrated Information Technology) at the University of South Carolina in Columbia. Expected graduation is Dec. 2016.

Simply it's a BS Degree in IT with additional focuses on Business and Management. IT topics range from DBA, sysAdmin, Networking, Software and Web design, Networking, IT Security, Computer Hardware and Software support and Telecommunications.

For more information on the degree: https://sc.edu/study/colleges_schools/hrsm/study/areasofstudy/iit/

At USC, I'm working as an IT Student Technician. It's a help desk job that is pretty wide ranging from Printers, to Networking (LAN and Wireless), to Software and Hardware Support.

Part of my degree requirements is to complete an Internship in the field.

I'm interested in Mobile Broadband and was wondering if anyone here had advice or contacts in the industry.

As far as Telecoms I would consider working for, Sprint or T-Mobile ideally. I'd work for Verizon but I'm not a fan of their views towards Net Neutrality and general approach towards "Network Management" (AKA Excessive Throttling).

I'd love to work with companies responsible for the deployment of hardware as well. Whether on the manufacture end of things (Alcatel-Lucent or Samsung) or on the physical deployment ends of things.

Ideally, I'm looking towards the Atlanta or Charlotte areas as I have family there who would allow me to live with them during the internship in order to reduce my costs.

If you have contacts in the field, PM me their contact information, or I can provide a resume in about a week or so. (I'm working on getting it updated with the topics I covered this semester as well as technologies I've used at work)

Even if you don't have contacts, company names would be great as well. I can find information on the Telecoms and Manufacturers, but it's a little harder to dig up information on the deployment side of the coin.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thank you in advance.

  8. I'm running the M8 with WiFi calling on a custom ROM. It seems a little finnicky at times. Doesn't stay connected all the time. I'm chalking it up to still needing some kinks ironed out by the devs.

Call quality is fantastic, SMS/MMS are sent/recieved almost instantly.

Just need hangouts to fix it's APN issues and I'll be a happy camper.

  9. Go pick it up!

Can't just go and pick it up.

If it's been sitting in the same location not marked either "On Vehicle for Delivery" or "Held at Customer Center for Pick Up" for a while it's on a feeder. No UPS employee will dig through an entire feeder for one package - unless you're a multimillion dollar customer.

  10. I am not gonna lie, I kinda liked the fingerprint scanner on the Max. It was fast and it was a lot quicker to unlock my device using it compared to using a pin/pattern unlock and I don't have to worry about someone's prying eyes looking to see what my password is.

I guess, I should have worded it a little better.

How I use my device, it'd just be an extra gimmick that I could show people, "Look what I can do!"

But, I've never used a password or pattern.

Probably not the best idea, but I don't have the patience to enter in a password or pattern each time I unlock my device.

I have a separate email account I use for financial information and other sensitive data that I don't sync to my phone so I'm at least protected there.

Side note - I'm still undecided if I want to upgrade from the One or not. The most appealing aspects are the (in order of importance) SD Card Slot, obvious hardware improvements, Tri-band...

Really do not like the on-screen buttons, at all. I've always dreaded the day when the capacitive buttons were eliminated... Almost as much as I dreaded when the menu capacitive button was deleted.

I don't know. I think I'll stick it out and wait for the next flagship. Pretty sure this device will still be fast as ever a year down the road.... Hopefully.

  11. Just watched the video. I'd suggest it with the volume turned down, because the kid gets annoying quick. I really like the dark grey finish on this one. Now I'm debating on whether to get this on Sprint or move to VZW once my fiancee's contract is up. Glad to see the SD slot return. Hopefully battery size improves, as well as battery life.

Edit - am I one of the few who'd like them to incorporate a fingerprint sensor into the phone? I'd love to lock it via fingerprint like the S5 and iPhone 5S. Much better IMO than the pattern or PIN.

Fingerprint scanner is just another gimmick. I have 4 friends with the 5s and none of them use the fingerprint scanner.

  12. Okay Idk why my post was removed, but whatever. JONBOY345, you forgot about the LG G2. It's also Tri-band. Just got the Sprint Spark update pushed to my phone last night.

I didn't forget about the LG G2, If you look back a page when I first responded to iden that the One Max and G2 both supported the 800mHz band.

  13. this is true and false. it depends on if you are connected to legacy, or NV and if NV what OEM your market has. legacy in my area broadcast offset coordinates but now that the towers are running NV, which is Samsung in my area, all the towers are broadcasting their exact locations (on the voice side only, just to be clear).

Didn't realize this. Here in Ac-Lu I'm not getting an exact address, new or old equipment. :/

Assumed it was the same everywhere. Thanks for keeping me straight. Learned something new today.

  14. I thought that was for 800 LTE.  Its clearly states in the Specsheet that the HTC One will do CDMA 1x at 800.

From the FCC's testing and approval of the Sprint Variant, only the only LTE spectrum is the 1900mHz.

Can see this under Frequency bands, LTE Band 25: 1852.5 ~ 1912.5.

Sprint didn't start having tri-band devices until the One Max and Nexus 5. Anything older than those 2 phones will not operate on the 800mHz frequencies.

  15. That's exactly why they did it. All about the $$$$. They played off the fact that 99% of people don't know the difference between a "MB" and a "Mb".

All I know is I want Google Fiber. Columbia SC was actually in the running to get it for a the first couple months of Google's search for a city to start it in.

Also, I have a question for you Robert. On the tower I pulled the 23Mb down from, there are standard antennas in the Alpha and beta sectors, but the Gamma is different from the other two.

    uploadfromtaptalk1391612568872.jpg

On the bottom rack, the one on the far side is the one in question. Can't see much of it, but can see just the bottom corner of it.

It's shorter and wider than other Sprint Antennas I've seen. I don't have a better picture of it, but can get one later today if it's unclear what I'm asking.

Any idea why that one could be different?

Thank you for all the hard work you put in, seriously. You're awesome.

Edit: Can edit posts after a reboot. Weird. Forget I said anything. :P
