  1. Also sorry for the quick double post but does the airave cost anything? Or will sprint just send you one? How does that work?

  2. The bottom rack looks like legacy sprint panels on the outside and a new NV Panel on the inside. Looks like maybe a AlcaLu RRU behind each large panel.

Edit-- could you also get a picture of the very top of the rack as well.

This pic has the entire tower in it. I didn't know any NV work was done on this tower. Hope this helps u figure out what's on the tower. I know Sprint resides somewhere on there. Would just like to know what all this madness is.

  3. Uh oh....don't say that. The only tower I could possibly roam off of was the brand new VZW tower across a field from my plant. My i5 use to go into extended, full service inside my plant. Now however it won't......

I'd check once a month just because. But keep an eye out for a new PRL thread on here every time a new one is released.

Will do. Hopefully this will help me with my in building roam. It use to go into "extended" but it stopped doing that a while back lol

Iphone 5 has PCS set as high priority while SMR 800 are lesser priority. If a person has an iphone 5 in a low signal area and drops to SMR, they will not stay there. Instead, the Iphone 5 will constantly search for a PCS signal and latch onto one no matter it's strength (this can kill a persons phone in a low PCS signal area). Whereas on Androids, PCS and SMR priority are set the same. If you are connected to SMR 800 because you dropped from PCS, the phone will stay there and won't bother scanning for a PCS signal as PCS and SMR are equals on the priority list.

See these are the things I need to learn. I go for brand loyalty. Next time though I will remember that. Sounds like I need an Android. Lol

I agree, but I know a lot of people who went to college here, who still have problems communicating.

His demeanor, body language, all speak to an educated man.

Is there any kinda timeline on when we may have an answer on this SoftBank vs. Dish battle? I was with Sprint back when they bought Nextel and I left to go to VZW once they bought Alltel because I was rural at the time and Alltel had a tower in my moms back yard. But being back with Sprint now, I see the SoftBank deal being the only logical option here. The whole Dish deal seems like Next....disaster all over again! (Great video btw)

  7. True.the main point of the Backhaul question was that buried cable warning signs lead away from the site. They are taking that 2 lane road and currently turning it into a 6 lane highway. So my fingers are crossed that if running cable to that sight was required, that they went ahead and did it now. Cause I can't see them going back and having to dig again, especially with that major highway putting that tower a good 100 feet closer to the highway lol. Thanks for the advice buddy! Fingers crossed! :-)

  8. A boomer is a free standing structure exceeding 250' AGL.

250'......wow!! That's up there!! That I assume is the reason for the guide cables running to anchors in the ground. Where might I find a list of all the towers near me that carry sprint equipment? I saw the map in the sponsors forum, but where might I go to research each individual tower that's on the map?

It's hard to tell, you could be getting great speeds due to lack of users on the site itself.

Great point. That tower serves the south end of Main Street and a densely populated suburban area. Hard to say I guess. I do know that it is the one and only NV complete towers near me. Those speeds make me feel good lol ;-)

  10. Same here. I bought a blackberry curve.....(remember those) off of a friend often and it was ESN locked and I got jipped. So I threw it in a box like 3 years ago. Last month my brother needed a loaner phone so I gave him 3 or 4 of my phones and he tried activating them on big red....and the blackberry was released. Shocked me...

Existing fiber may not be sufficient for an additional carrier. All fiber is not equal. It cannot carry infinite amount of bandwidth. If the required service level of the existing customers on that spur line do not leave enough capacity, then Sprint cannot use it if it wants to.

However, Sprint bid out all the backhaul a long time ago by market. And it's possible that AT&T is not even the backhaul vendor to that site. Sprint tried to avoid ILEC's as much as possible, especially if that ILEC is AT&T or Verizon. It's possible backhaul for this site is coming from cable company or another AAV vendor.

Gotcha! I did some research into the Term AAV'S after Fray Dog's post.

As for other vendors in the area cable company wise there are a litany of them. Time Warner has a Hub less than a mile away. Comcast xfinity, knology, and AT&T uverse are all offered at this address. (As I am in the middle of the Main Summerville SC metro.
