  1. 2 weeks... Im calling it...

    Orlando

Status:  Partial LTE Launch/Full Builds Continuing

    NV Sites Accepted = 60%

    LTE Sites Accepted = 54%

Anticipated LTE Launch = Fall 2013 (Melbourne/Palm Bay and Port St. Lucie launched 4/18/2013, Daytona Beach/Palm Coast launched 7/30/2013)

Original Scheduled Completion = May 2013

Current Production Rate Completion = February 2014

yeah, I think that sounds like a reasonable time frame considering the progress made since the last update

  2. seeing progress, was out walking my dog just a little bit ago and Signalcheck was blowing up on my phone. Looks like the tower in my neighborhood is in testing mode. Was picking up an unusable LTE signal and the address it lists is the exact location of a former Nextel tower.

  3. I, for the first time, am screenshot-less because I was using my navigation because I had no idea where I was . Pretty much from lake Baldwin fleets people park all the way to the regal cinemas down there I had LTE. It was a pretty consistent signal never went below like 3 or 4 bars. I did do a speed test at a light but I closed it before it finished. Download was something like 15 down and 1 up with a really good ping. I was impressed. Also, there are a ton of beautiful houses down there. Wouldn't mind living there if I decide to make Orlando my permanent home.

That was the signal you were probably getting from the Winter Park Towers, it extends out to quite a distance. As for the homes in Baldwin Park, they are priced from $500,000 to $1,000,000

  4. Yes but the Republic of China and the People's Republic of China are entirely separate. Republic of China started in 1912 and encompassed all of China and Taiwan, ending its rein after WWII when it was pushed back into Taiwan by the communists during the Chinese civil war. Therefore Taiwan - nationalist, mainland China - communist. And China is apparently foolish enough to enter an armed conflict in trying to retake it even though its considered a sovereign separate country.

  5. Same here. That 4.2 update with Sense 5 would keep me quiet for a while. I honestly think that this might've been a preparation update for 4.2 because it put Chrome, and Google Play Games as default apps now. It might lessen the amount of work needed for the 4.2 update for this phone. And has anyone tried out HD Voice?

I know its on by default but I haven't noticed a change in the voice quality so far. Data connection appears to be the same. If Sprint gets the Nexus 5 in store I am not waiting for HTC to decide whether they want to upgrade us or not, I'm jumping.

    10/02

HTC EVO 4G LTE Software Update  - 3.17.651.4

    Enhancements/Fixes:

    HTC Sense stability improvements

    - HD Voice default enablement

    Important Notes:

    - Software version is: 3.17.651.4

Updates may be released in stages. When checking for the update, you may receive a message

that no update is available, check back later or wait until the update notification is sent to your device.

looks like nothing more than a minor update for a few fixes and HD Voice, doubt it'll be anything more than that

  7. you mean "IF" it is released on sprint?

out of curiosity, if it "DOES" get released for sprint, will it get nexus updates in a timely fashion like other nexus devices or will we have to wait months for sprint to add their bloatware crap to it???

well I know in the released documents that went through the FCC (assuming it was the Nexus 5), it was compatible with every carrier but Verizon. Granted Sprint did make mistakes with the previous Nexus but they may have made good with Google since then - then again maybe not.

  8. I did notice it looked rather scarce of people.... The apartments/town homes look decent. They remind me of a place called abacoa down in Jupiter, Florida. But abacoa is probably one of the nicest places to live down there besides of course Jupiter island, and certain places of palm beach gardens, palm beach etc. I would've never known that place existed if I didn't go to the dog park and need to get subway for lunch lol. The sports bar over there seemed to be doing pretty good on a Sunday but everything else was dead

that's usually how it is, a lot of businesses are hurting over there because of the high rent and there are a number of spaces right off New Broad St that are available but nobody is coming in. You do see a lot of expensive cars over there though, I had an Audi R8 behind me and a Lamborghini in front of me at one time going through there.

  9. Hmmmm. Intriguing. I'm sure they'll adjust it in time. On a better note, was at a dog park in winter park and had some pretty decent LTE speeds. Was very consistent, just how I like it! Also, that place over there reminds me of Palm Beach. Everything looks so new and lots of nice fancy cars. Edit: forgot to add screenshotvu2ujy3e.jpg

Winter Park actually ends at the dog park as south of the dog park is the Baldwin Park neighborhood, which used to be the Naval Training Center/military base. Its Orlando's way of trying to make their own Winter Park, but haven't quite succeeded with the Town center, at least in the way of attracting business while having high rental costs. Homes are rather expensive as well.

  10. But will it still get Android 4.2? I'd really love to have native group messaging support, a la iMessage.

I sent LlabTooFer a tweet regarding this article and he said the EVO is still getting the update, though no timeline. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

  11. I can agree with that statement. I went into the Sprint store several days after getting my iPhone 5 and mentioned to them that there is LTE present around my area. They said, o"oh really ....we didn't even know that." As if I expected anything different LOL....

Also, from that frequency sheet that is supported on the 5S...Did I not see 800 on there??

All I see for Sprint are 1900/2100 mhz frequencies, so its not a tri-band

  12. Oh that's another thing. I've been unable to use my PS3 all summer because it can't handle the heat. It overheats after 5 minutes of use and turns itself off. In the winter it works fine.

yep, the fat PS3's are known to have overheating issues. This was fixed with the smaller PS3's, and its likely the PS4 won't have this problem given the amount of vents on the back and the processor already being out for quite some time. The PS4 is also smaller than the PS3 slim models. The Xbox One is bigger than the Xbox 360.

  13. PS4 here.  i have never had any issues with my PS3 and its the original 60 gig model.  Also never had any issues with the store or PSN.  I currently have a 360 and a PS3. The 360 hasn't been powered up for over a year.  Having to pay for live gold just to watch netflix angered me.  As for the One being able to control cable boxes and what not,  I could not care less, my Harmony Ultimate controls everything just fine.

The 60GB is considered Playstation gold, the only problem is that its the console with the highest failure percentage as it was using a 1st generation processor that had heating issues. I have my original 60GB but its sitting in a corner as I have to get it repaired from the "yellow light of death". The newer PS3's use smaller and more efficient processors over the first gen ones. The 60GB also still goes for a lot of money online too.

  14. Then again I'm an avid FPS player and I think that the Xbox controller is better for that. I am also happy about COD running off of Microsoft's servers to reduce lag online. I think that's one thing that they got right. I also like how you don't have to wait for downloads to finish before playing a game.

I don't have a problem with reversal of policy. I think it's ironic because they did it because they were listening to people's complaints and now everyone is mad because they listened to complaints.

I think that Microsoft was trying to take Xbox in the way of PC which is good, but the console gamers weren't ready for it. I think that the PS4 is less of an upgrade than the Xbox One.

Well in reality both consoles are about on par. Sony has said the PS4 is 10x as powerful as the PS3, though both the PS3 and PS4 are about evenly matched at 1.8 for PS3 and 1.84 teraflops for PS4, though they use entirely different chipsets. PS3 uses Sony's proprietary Cell processor, while PS4 and Xbox One use older AMD x86 processors. The PS4 does have the edge though with memory as its using GDDR5 over the Xbox One using DDR3. DDR3 is good for lower latency and they have an embedded eSRAM chip to help the bandwidth side but it won't be pumping out the same amount of bandwidth the PS4 can do. It will also help lower development costs and times now that both are using the exact same processor, possibly prices on games too but don't hold your breath on that one.
