I got mine replaced through Best Buy, and they gave me a brand new phone to replace my pre-order. It's HW V 0003
-
That's not an actual a pic? I just assumed it was you in one of those mirror photos...
Robert
No, but here's a shot of me at work.
-
I always keep my SGS 3 in the front of my speedo for just this reason...
There's not enough room in the front of my speedo. (How you guys could miss this reply is beyond me).
Also, the skinny jeans comment was a joke as well. I like to joke around, thus my pic.

Guys shouldn't be wearing skinny jeans.

Being without my phone, even though it was only for one day, made me realize just how integrated this Evo is into my daily life. Outside of being my social outlet (phone, texting, Facebook etc.), it's also my:
- alarm clock
- source for daily news
- media hub during my morning commute via blue tooth streaming in my new car
- entertainment (games and reading) during my daily... deposits
- camera
- gps
- wallet (for my morning coffee at 7-11 plus other things)
- ATM (I can deposit checks via my Navy Federal App, which is good since I don't live near a Navy Fed branch)
I'm sure I'm forgetting things, but the Google Wallet, Navy Fed App and Blue Tooth music streaming in the car are the biggest of the bunch.

That really sucks. I would cut off that warranty, get the glass fixed cheap, and find a good case for the phone. Pay yourself instead of the warranty and use that money to pay for needed repairs or to buy something off Craigslist if you destroy your phone.
-
That's good. It just amazes me how many people take such a thing for granted when it comes to turning in a phone.
The collective stupidity of the general population has ceased to amaze me. People are ignorant of a lot of things that impact their daily lives, especially electronic data. It's partly their fault, but also, with the rate that things have changed over the past 30 years in terms of technology, it's hard to blame them completely.

Update: Apparently, they transferred my entire balance, including what was left of my original promotional balance ($1.69), plus as I pointed out above, I got another $10 promotional credit because my replacement phone was a new phone, not refurbished.
Qwikstrike, why don't you take your phone to a local repair shop and get it fixed on your own? It's probably cheaper than paying the $150 deductible. I used to refuse getting insurance on my phone because of those large deductibles. The only reason I got it this time is the lack of deductible through BB.
Also, as far as the cost of insurance goes, you pay a lot more (relatively) for your cell phone coverage because you are a lot more apt to use that coverage than you are likely to get into an auto accident. It's not based solely on coverage amounts, but also frequency and severity factors.
-
True, but if it's a new phone you get as a replacement, you get the $10 promotional credit again, so in my case,I made out.
-
Minor glitch...
Your Google prepaid funds are tied to your phone. If you swap devices you have to call Google to get that balance transferred.
Bonus: Because Best Buy ended up replacing my phone with a new phone, not a refurbished phone, I get the free $10 credit from Google again!
-
Of course I did, especially with Google Wallet on the phone.

Well, Best Buy has restored my faith. I had some issues dealing with them and my new EVO preorder and that caused me to stop going to the Best Buy in Daytona. I started visiting the BB in Sanford instead, and they have been top notch.
I dropped my broken phone off yesterday, they called this evening with my replacement ready. Got to the store and the new replacement wouldn't power up, nor charge. I figured they would have to send it back out again, but the kid that helped me the night before swapped the broken replacement out for a brand new evo.
-
Cracked my glass in 4 spots thanks to a minor 2 foot drop onto the hardwood floors. It must have landed just right. It's actually not too distracting, but I need to get it fixed.
Is anyone here familiar with Best Buy's black tie service? I suppose they will send it out to be repaired, but if the phone was bent and irreparable, would they just replace it for me on the spot?
-
For some reason, I never got the last update. I just went out and looked before you posted this and forced the update manually, and now I'm setting up Google Wallet.
Woo Hoo
-
So, this should include the fix for Google Wallet, yes?
-
Has this been completely rolled out? My wife has the Sprint Samsung Galaxy SII and didn't get an update to ICS. I checked it out and there wasn't an Android update (or any other) available either.
-
That explains why I got a few yahoo instant messages this morning at 7 from people that I know for damn sure do not wake up in time to see the sun rise.
-
Thanks, I might explore that if they haven't fixed this issue in a (relatively) timely fashion.
-
No.
-
Yeah, I brought it up in the regular EVO thread. A lot of people, like myself, couldn't even get the app to work (it wouldn't let me add a card to begin with). I talked with Goggle CS and they said it was a known issue (I posted a copy of their response in that thread) and would be resolved soon. The following day (or two) they pushed an update to the app that disabled it on our device.
I assume, once they get the issue resolved, they will update the app again and all will be good.

Well, hopefully they get it fixed soon and roll out another update.
-
Wow, this phone seems to have something new every day. I guess I should be glad my Google wallet worked from the beginning.
Well, apparently there was an update pushed out to the Google Wallet app, and now when I open it, it says that it is not yet been certified in my country or on my device/carrier.
I guess they got tired of people calling in with the same issue.
-
So, I ended up calling Google. According to them, they have issues with the Evo and took it offline for registration, but they expect it to be back up in a few days. Sounded like BS to me, but what do I know, as soon as I said I was having issues, he asked if I had the HTC Evo 4g lte, so, meh, at least they are aware and potentially working on a fix. He said the issue was between HTC and Google finance, and they were working it out.
Thank you for getting in touch with our team. We're aware that GoogleWallet payment cards are unavailable and our engineering team is working
hard to make sure Google Wallet is working as intended. We will be sure to
let you know when full functionality has resumed.
Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.
Sincerely,
Daran
The Google Wallet Team

Hmm.. I think I would just try again later. J/K but it may be a network issue . You could try it when you are on wifi or if you get it on wifi try when you're on 3G.
Yeah, I've tried it on and off wifi, early morning, late at night, etc. etc. I just did what bobbi suggested and it's "Adding Card" again, so we will see if that worked or not soon enough.
I really just want to look cool at the 7-11 buying crap with my phone. lol

@themuffinman - We just got a software update right? So would that have changed? If not, i'm happy to look it up.
