  1. I wish I was optimistic about Sprints ability to upgrade its network and expand LTE. They really don’t care about rural America. I mean perhaps they do but the lack of funding has them handcuffed. And the issues with band 26 for SoCal is painful. The Mexican government. [emoji848][emoji850][emoji849][emoji19]

  2. Based on Sprint technology improvements and apple, as well as past projections...HPUE will most likely be in this batch of iPhones. My guess is iPhones 2018 will have 4CA since Sprint plans to launch 4CA end of the year/early next year.

  3. That’s what I’ve been thinking. If CellularOne operated a PCS network, all Sprint would have to do is swap CellularOne’s old RRUs out with Samsung NV RRUs and ground equipment. They could run 1x/LTE over CellOne’s antennae ala Sprint’s current (and ongoing) GMO deployment.

With the ~200 to 250 sites I estimate they have, the whole footprint could probably be up and running in under three months (~3 sites a day).

Sadly, though, as far as I know, there aren’t plans for an extensive buildout in Montana in the immediate future. I’d keep my eyes on South Dakota and Wyoming if I were you ;).

I’ve pretty much given up hope for Montana Sprint coverage but do you care to shed some light on Wyoming and South Dakota ? Any information deployments etc that we haven’t heard of

  4. They're sitting on over 200 active site leases/owned towers with equipment already deployed...

Does anyone remember what type of network CellularOne operated in Montana before their shutdown?

Right and we all understand that but they've said nothing about launching service up there and have yet to update their coverage maps to show the coverage. It's spotty in a few towns at best. I plan on visiting Montana next summer. I just hope I get service up there or else I'll have to switch to T-Mobile beforehand.

  5. Lets just hope the merger does not happen between Sprint and Tmobile. i don't want to see the consolidation of 4 national carriers into 3. I like the competitive environment as it is now. Mergers will only lead to higher prices and not to mention that Sprint/Tmo would need to disperse a ton of spectrum to satisfy regulators.

We'll see what happens. I think exact opposite. A stronger 3 is better then a strong 3 and weak 4th. Sprint doesn't have the funds to improve its network in a timely fashion nor are they going to expand its LTE reach anytime soon. The issues in SoCal and tower spacing are glaring. The network grid just isn't dense in SoCal when it should be given it's the largest market. I've been with them since 1999, but I'll wait and see. Personally I'm for the merger and doubt it'll increase prices THAT much but we'll see

  6. Totally agree the cell spacing for 1.9 is horrendous in So Cal. HPUE and B26 would barely make up for it. Sprint needs to add a ton of macro amd small cells in So Cal to improve coverage.

I'm tempted to switch my 5 lines to T-Mobile in September for iPhone 8 but I'll wait and see. They're talking to Tmo again about a merger so if they do come to a deal then I won't need to switch carriers. Fingers crossed ????????

  7. Doubt a deal happens. But if it does, there will be a lot of headaches as both networks are combined into one. Then there's the issue of which network they'll shut down. CDMA or GSM?

Shut down GSM and you'll lose reliable fallback for VoLTE. Shut down CDMA, and you'll lose 1x800 which is more reliable than lowband VoLTE.

Plausible arguments. It's more probable then doubtful. Let the speculation begin

  8. They've been adding towers here and there in high roaming areas (http://www.codyenterprise.com/article_804e6cec-35b9-11e7-8392-3b77677fda5d.html for example)...

...and they have over 200 active site leases in Montana...

We don't know when or if they'll ever go commercially live. It's pretty spotty at best in a few cities in Montana. Not enough for them to update their coverage maps.

  9. So joke of the day....I follow sprint coo on Facebook and he posts about the Magic box....I then commented on how bad the tower spacing is on the 1.9 in socal and wished they would resolve the band 26 issue...some guy commented back saying band 26 was live in parts of socal already. I died laughing as I know that's not remotely true....that would have breaking news.

  10.

Got it thanks. So GMO sites will increase sprints network within its existing footprint. Or so it sounds like since they have zero plans to expand its network to new markets.

  11. There is a big push to get LTE on GMOs this year - good to see it's taking place in your market too.

AT&T LTE roaming has been reported by several other people so that's of no surprise.

As far as your Airave issues go, an LTE capable Airave is going to be released in the coming weeks so I would wait for that if I were you.

Can someone please explain to me what GMO is ?

  12. Well, we also are witnessing some *rumblings*. However, until I see permits filed I will remain skeptical of Sprint doing more than their unusable Substantial Service sites around Rapid.

I'm just curious but what other rumblings have you heard besides bringing coverage to Rapid City SD ? Any type of rumblings for Montana or any northern states ?

  13. Okay, so I am coming here with this as I see that Rapid City SD is talked about here. I am getting rumblings of Sprint coming here. I highly doubt it as they just seem to be hanging on until whatever might happen with whoever takes place, if you get my drift. Robert, do you know anything? I have had 2 people contact me in the past 3 days regarding this as they know I am a T-Mobile whore, which I partially blame on you. hahahahahahaha Any information you or anyone on this board may have would be most helpful.

    Maybe in 2027.

  14. I have not been here long enough to check out the entire strip. But the excaliber-tropicania area was bad yesterday. Going to travel some other areas on foot today along the strip. Out of the strip area, I did find some very good areas yesterday. Is it possible that we only have one carrier for band 41 here? I only see #40072 in the debug screen. How many thousands of tourists can be packed in the 6 or so hotels within range of this site that is running so slow.

I've pulled 80-110 Mbps all across the strip so no they don't have just one carrier band 41.
