  1. I can guarantee you the 81st site isn't live yet.  I'm getting -99 LTE right now, were as 3G I get -70 right here very consistently, and sometimes as good as -62 or so.  I'll definitely post when I see it flip over.  Lord knows this part of town needs it.  I just ran two speed tests and got just under 2 Mbps up and down each with ~110ms ping.  Not really what Sprint is shooting for.  That should be what their EV-DO network is shooting for lol.

I have caught it in "testing" same as i caught the 71 Mingo UHS site a few times, several weeks before it went live.  You could open a ticket on it, but I would bet final adjustments need to be made, and neighboring sites need to be prepped before anything will actually be seen coming from 81&Mingo.

  2.

This is the cell tower for my area, which lies within a Duke Energy substation, which is behind a CVS. Walked over and did some speed testing, which was within the 3-5mbps range

When a site first goes online it is usually going to yield sporadic performance until the neighboring sites are online.  If you have the Signal Check app, or know how to use an engineering screen you can examine the fluctuation of your singal/noise ratio {values} .  When the SNR reading becomes more consistent you will likely see a stronger connection, which means faster speeds for you.

  3. I have the Samsung Galaxy S2 and it's a problematic phone including a pretty bad reception issue. I'm getting the iPhone when I have the chance but I'm wondering how much better the reception will be? I'm Salt Lake where 4G hasn't come yet and I was going to switch to Verizon for a better signal but I have a feeling the iPhone will be better on Sprint and if it is I can wait until 4G comes.

    Your thoughts?

My personal opinion is No, You have wimax 4G in North Utah.  Wimax towns are the first to receive TD-LTE from Sprint, Premier sponsors have access to very detailed maps if you decide to investigate further. The iPhone 5S is a dual band LTE phone on Sprint, band 25 and 26; as such i say avoid it like the plague.  You are already an android user, I would look into upgrading to a Tri-Band device to fully take advantage of the new network. As for reception issues I as well had the S2 a few years back, and experienced drop calls in places that only the galaxy nexus could replicate.

  4. Snap snap.... ;)   It's been 15 years or so since I've climbed sites professionally, but look me up if things get to this area.

When, Poor James and his crews when i get the financial backing to cross state lines.

    Sprint NV 3.0?  :D

  5. I have one more year left to wait since a billing issue with Comcast made my bill start charging me $35 higher than it was supposed to and apparently the only way to fix it was to renew my contract 6 months early as a new subscriber for an additional 6 months. So one more year and I am ready for a better solution as well.

Unfortunately, parts of Florida are a no go for me.  Grandfathered earth stations restrict deployment within 150 mile radius of Orlando and Miami; luckily St Augustine is in the clear.

  6. Getting LOS isn't a problem as the 3 houses are up on a hill. It's 5 miles east of Ethel, LA. Just have to find a spot to snag some Internet as these folks are tired of wildblue.

    I'm hurrying Travis, I'm hurrying.

  7. Since we are on this deal.. Any other companies out there? Looking at a solution I have to put in. No WISPs around that I can find. Only cell signals available are VZW and AT&T. VZW has LTE and AT&T has their non-LTE "4g". DSL stops about a mile up the road. Tempted to go find a neighbor of a neighbor and get DSL installed up the road and throw up some Ubiquiti backhaul and call it a day.

Only thing I can see at this point is that VZW home LTE garbage that gets you 10gb.

I have about 30 sites planned for the Baton Rouge market, if you have LOS the 5GHz ubiq bridges are affordable and will push 150/150 all day.

  8. Mine is the gold 32GB.  I guess Apple forgot to make any for Sprint lol

but that 71st & memorial site doesn't look like its been touched.  Sad situation because the mall really could use that site being lit up.  The 71st & Mingo site too.  I'm not sure how that one looks because I never go over by the school where its located.

I couldn't see any of the cabinets by the fire station though because they're all behind brick walls and I didn't really wanna go get all up in that business.

The 71st and memorial firestation site had backhaul ran out to it this summer, early this summer; I talked to the crews.  The 71st and Mingo site is lit up, its on the Union HS parking lot (back corner) It has been in testing since August and it went commercially live in September.  It desperately needs for the surrounding sites to take traffic load,101st and garnet site needs to be completed, 81st needs to be turned on, 71st fire station needs to be completed.  Also the 61st & 129th site needs work, until all this happens these sites are going to be strained; and as of now the Union site is covering most of the area and taking a beating since it's a 5x5 site serving one of the heaviest traffic areas of town solo.

  9. Still waiting to get the 5S from Sprint. It's been ordered since launch.

Really?  My brother ordered white & gray/silver on October 11th and got it on Friday morning.  My mom on the other hand is still waiting for her white/gold 5S.

I really hope in the next week things happen in Tulsa.

  10. First off, these are hand held shots at or close to 300mm on an APS-C body with an effective distance of 450mm.  Sorry if they're a little less sharp than I'd prefer, but they're pretty good.

71st & Memorial fire station site.

And for good measure, my favorite site at 81st & Mingo.

Well, geez lil shit told me he knew what he was talking about; 14 year olds  <_<  :td:

Have you gotten your iPhone 5S yet?  Is 81st & Mingo broadcasting publicly yet?  I have caught test signals off it before, but it has been on the map as 4G complete for months now and it is never consistent.

  11.  Your phone may have WIFI sleep settings, the standard setting on the galaxy S3 is to disconnect from the WIFI network when the screen is off; permitting you are not connected to your charger. This is changeable in advanced WIFI settings.

I am blaming "WIFI LAG" on the device, try to dig up the advanced wifi settings and enable your phone to stay connected even while sleeping.  My S3 pings in >10ms on my WIFI in no way shape or form is Sprint faster.

  12. I know I'm going to make the wireless pros cringe with the inexperience of this question but....

If you have a 20 MHz channel of 1900 versus a market with an equal demand on 10 MHz of 800 and 10 MHz of 1900, would the speeds be equal for the same network conditions/signal?

There are too many variables to properly answer this question.  More things make up your end experience as a wireless consumer than just channel width & frequency.  Who designed your network? What did they design it for? what is the distance between cells? What is the topography like?  The complexity of the question has little to do with the channel width & the frequencies broadcast.
