  1. I'm surprised that you get any signal at all at home what with all those apartments sucking it up!

Wonder what the holdup is with the water tower on Lindsey (near Classen)?

Water tower in Yukon is finally active LTE (from old route 66 near Mustang Rd):

    attachicon.gifYukonWaterTower.PNG

If i go outside my home I can get a -85dBm signal, inside I hover around -105-110dBm.  I see varied speeds 1-5 mbps average, but occasionally I have pulled in low teen figures.  One issue is that the tower on Boyd & 24th which is marked as live does not, and has not broadcast since it's completion in September.   Since Sprint has "lit" the OU water tower I suspect that the Lindsey and Classen site has fallen in priority since they are within a 1/2 mile of each other.

Is that speedtest from inside your home?

  2. I do love this phone. Only gripe is signal quality isn't as strong as S4T or N5 but the pros outweigh the negatives on this device. :-)

I hope that we have an update soon for Tri-band support, and that we have long term support as well.

  3. Only thing that could be better is Tri-band signals to use!  The battery life shot was from being off the charger from 7am until night time, and I am a heavy user; averaging 7-15GB of monthly mobile data alone.  And I'm a talk & texter too  :rasp:.

  4. But there are so many more markers on the map!

Been quite a while since I've gone down there, guess I just assumed that the metroplex would have better service. But, no 800 MHz marker around Plano.

DiL does have a Nexus 5 so she's set for tri-band.  Unfortunately the Kiddo has a 5S, drank the Kool-aid.

My brother at Columbia in NYC chose the 5S as well and is missing out on the TDD site perched across the street from the building he lives in.  Either way the band 26 experience will provide a solid signal and reasonable throughput depending on sector traffic & backhaul.

  5. It's looking more and more like my Tulsa kiddo will be transferring from Tulsa to Plano (TX) for work.

I guess that's okay, at least it isn't much further from here, plus the ex will still be in Tulsa.

And the Sprint service should be much better in the Dallas area!

I have been all through Dallas twice in the last 4 months, neither of those times did my LTE experience prove to be any better than it is here in OKC or Tulsa.  Many huge gaps still exist throughout the metro. If he is Tri-band equipped he should see the benefits Band 26 soon & Spark  :D .

  6. I was wondering if anyone has connected to 1x800 in tulsa area? I was in broken arrow near the corner of Houston and Oliver and I connected to 1x800 but there was no address. I was working so I couldn't mess with it much. I did take a couple of screenshots though. I just thought it was weird that there was no address.

Houston and Olive-r?  81st & 129 E ave?   I have never picked up CDMA 1x-800 in Tulsa and I traveled around most of the metro over Christmas break whilst running a Prem sponsor PRL.

  7. Tulsa may be in for an interesting future with Sprint,  As many of you on here are aware; Tulsa was a Clearwire protection market and deployed 3 sites in the metro area.  Since then 80% of Sprint's native footprint in northeast OK has received some form of network vision 1.0 upgrades.  Many of you have experienced some form of LTE connectivity throughout the state and in addition been covered with HD voice over PCS.

If you are following the continuation of Sprint's network vision as we enter into phase 2 or "NV 2.0" it should be noted that Sprint is deploying band 26 in Oklahoma this year and this will extend LTE connectivity indoors as well as fill in any gaps in coverage that have not been addressed in NV 1.0.  Sprint is deploying a 5x5MHz FDD carrier for band 26 nationwide; however Tulsa will only receive 3x3MHz coverage which will still yield a modest 21.75mbps max download and provide the indoor relief subscribers are looking for.  Additionally Since Tulsa is the 47th largest city in the US and OKC is the 42nd largest our market should be bumped into the 3rd round deployment from Sprint Spark and 20MHz TDD LTE.

  8. Any recommendations for dual (or tri) WAN routers that can consistently load balance (not simple failover) between dis-separate (cable vs dsl) internet connections, and support USB or WIFI wan's?

I am not looking for 'bonded' wan connections, but something that can distribute individual loads over the least loaded/fastest connection at the time.

    Without the complexity of pfsense/etc.

Have you ever heard of MikroTik?

  9. So has anyone heard any info or rumor as to when this KitKat and/or Spark update may arrive?

Luckily Dave it's just around the corner, you should see the update by halloween.

  10. Some of them hated Cam for a few days but he speaks the truth.

Unfortunately T-Mobile lacks the quality and quantity of service offered by AT&T and Verizon.  At either of my parent's homes in the heart of Tulsa T-Mobile only works if you are outdoors.  Even Sprint who uses a similar frequency for LTE and Voice connectivity offers a certain marginal level of indoor service inside my mother's partial brick home.  I had a T-mobile device for a few months both with a "real" T-mobile Sim and a trial of Solavei.  The service even around town was borderline pathetic, and at my apartment in Norman T-mobile signals are again only usable on the patio.  My neighbor Jon with a T-mobile iPhone 5S is sorely disappointed with their service. AT&T offers extremely high speeds in and around Tulsa and OKC.  Verizon is crippled by USCC holdings in Tulsa but still offers a competitive LTE service and a mildly robust voice network over PCS.  Sprint is somewhere in the middle.

  11. Dec 30 interview with Sprint CEO Dan Hesse: http://www.marketplace.org/topics/business/corner-office/sprint-ceo-dan-hesse-says-faster-data-and-higher-definition-calls-are

Spark is Sprint's beefed up data network. "Basically what it means for the customer is your phone can work about 50 megabits per second," Hesse says. "A year from now it will be double that, and two years from now, triple that. So you're talking 150 megabits per second for the phone."

Hesse says that aside from a faster data network, Sprint customers should soon expect to have better quality sound on phone calls.

"We have announced something called 'high definition voice,' where your wireless phone will the be better of your devices, between your landline and your cell phone. So, today, somebody with perfect hearing hears about 10 octaves. The cell phone gives you about 4 octaves. 'High definition voice' will give you 7 of those 10 octaves, so I don't think it's going to be unusual at all six months from now for people to say, 'Let's get off this landline and let's have this call on a cell phone so we can hear each other better.'"

In my brief experiences with HD voice it sounds extremely clear. Especially G2 to G2. No matter what anyone I know with the iPhone 5S still sounds tinny during the call, which leaves me questioning Apple's quality;again.

  12. Robert I cannot quote a post that long. Hopefully members don't make the same mistakes as MasterTruth in the future. If he was a troll his koi attitude slipped me. There is a delicate line between learning and complaining. Im not going to defend someone on a mission to derail this site. And i meant NO disrepect in my postings.

  13. Will...there is a difference. I'm not sure why you want to air this publicly. However, he comes in and says and posts exclusively for his first day more than two dozen negative posts with no substance whatsoever. He clearly violated the rules and is definitely trolling.

You are an entrenched and trusted member. You don't carpet bomb our site with complaints. You don't actually come to our site to criticise. You offer very productive posts, and occasionally mention your Sprint experiences both good and bad.

MasterTruth was a troll. You should not equate yourself to such.

In my discussion with him he seemed to be educating himself about the future of the network. Obviously disgtuntled with his service he turned to this site. He even learned about the signifigance of Tri-band. I emailed AJ and recieved no reply. I can help some of the "average" folks decide if Sprint is going to fulfill their needs, but not if there banned so quickly. Sprints 4G coverage is expanding and this will draw tech illiterate to the site as they ponder why service works in some places and not others. Hopefully future members do not slander so many threads, but there has to be a threshold. Hard to decide if he is a troll or a disgruntled customer so quickly.

  14. He was visiting from an AT&T Mobility IP address. I don't know if I buy he even was a Sprint customer at all. Not that it matters anymore. He has been banned.

I too get quite fed up with Sprint at times, his IP adress is from his AT&T MiFi. A device that actually works since his Sprint service doesnt cut it. Might as well ban me too if we can't discuss Sprint's current state and imperfections.

  15. Someone is big pimping it..

My only point is that HD videos are not blocked over cellular for Sprint, you should check out the 4K bee video on your G2; it's gorgeous.

If i want to be "big pimpin" i'll download a 4.1GB test file from the data center server on the master link over at the slave side on 24th ave when im back in Norman. If all goes as planned it takes under a minute. It's true nerd porn.
