I think while Verizon is trying to get their spectrum deal approved, they will be intentionally understating their subscriber numbers, or making them sound less than they are. Keep pushing just the retail numbers publicly.
It may be a strategy, since their other performance indicators are so high, why talk up the subscribers numbers too? If the FCC is constantly hearing numbers less than 100M, makes Verizon seem less formidable than over 100M. That 100M threshold is huge. Even if just psychological. That's just my opinion.

I love this quote:
With this lawsuit, the Attorney General's office is claiming New York consumers, who already pay some of the highest wireless taxes in the country, should pay even more. We intend to stand up for New York consumers' rights and fight this suit."-

For some devices, NetMonitor will be a better app than CDMA Field Test.

When you look at the customer reviews of SDC devices - it isn't all that positive. No roaming and problems reestablishing DC after losing 3G seem to be the biggest complaints.
For a company that tried TWICE to get PTT on CDMA... it's pretty sad to still see customers so unhappy.
When you see iDEN subscribers who have been with sprint for over 10 years leaving:

It's just sad.
Agreed. However, the roaming issue is supposed to be solved very soon. I'm uncertain about the reconnecting after 3G one.

You beat me by 6 minutes! Didn't even see the post.
But you're right, this has certainly come at a bad time.
Roberto, I am going to remove your thread. Thanks for posting, though! Glad so many of our members are paying close attention.

How does one locate the iDen towers that are being Decom'd? I had to get my parents an AirRave and my old man used to get great nextel service...
All Nextel iDEN sites will be decommissioned. The only variable is when. About one third in 2012, the last two thirds in 2013.

Very funny guys! For a site that dangles all the benefits of a sponsor, they sure don't make it easy to figure out what you have to do to become one. Not even a FAQ? I'm happy to support the site, I just want to make sure I can get access to those NV maps.
You will have to pardon us. S4GRU has grown so fast and we are just not a well tuned machine for use by the mainstream. In many ways, we function like a club, and it can come off like a clique from someone on the outside looking in. We are experiencing some growing pains.
Sponsor sections were not created to get people to part with their money, but rather, we created these sections for our Sponsors who were so generous to support our site. All of the premium content for our site is in the Forum section. So, the PayPal donation section is there. If you click on The Forums tab, go up to the right hand corner of the page, you will see the PayPal donation area.
Thank you for considering a donation to S4GRU.

It may be that their insurer has raised their premiums. I hear a lot of phone insurance fraud claims around forums (not ours of course). That's the cost of a morally degrading society. The rest of us have higher insurance premiums.

Kind of off topic, but has to do with data speeds, and since I'm in PHX, here goes... I notice that when ever I run a speed test on my phone that the it is considerably slower then the speeds I get when I tether my phone to my laptop and run a speedtest. For example, when I run speed tests with my phone tethered to my PC (via speedtest.net) I get about 1000kbps DL, when I run the tests on my phone (via the speedtest.net App) I get about half that... 500kbps DL. Any ideas? Thanks!
Using the same servers?

Tapatalk told me that it was going to be resolved in 2.0. It did not resolve. I wrote them an e-mail. They basically said unless I dump Forum Runner, then they will not be able to give us that level of support. I hate ultimatums. If I didn't have so many members that prefer Tapatalk, I would have removed them right then. That was a ridiculous answer. I'm sorry.

I test drove TMobiles service. Ended up with no signal around my house. And I thought Sprint had a poorly designed network in baton rouge....tmobile takes the cake.
Yes, the grass is always magenta'er on the other side.

Clearwire was down to 1.52 today after the Verizon spectrum sale news. Then it has already climbed back up to 1.76 before I bought any...
I bought CLWR at $1.61. Wish I was paying attention at $1.52, I would hsve doubled down.

Sprint is projecting steady 20%+ iDEN subscriber losses quarter after quarter until complete iDEN shut down. This is the main source of post paid subscriber losses. Sprint is not retaining iDEN subscribers at the rate they were hoping. The plan was to get them to move to Sprint Direct Connect or normal business CDMA accounts. However, competitors, especially ATT, have been very aggressive trying to pick up Nextel customers. Especially medium and large business customers.
After iDEN customers are migrated to CDMA, or all gone, you will finally see the end of the trend of postpaid subscriber losses.

@Robert' date=' thanks for the info but that really sucks. Sprint promised 4G, or better 3G, this year and it never happened. Sprint shot its wad with the iPhone and kicked the small markets to the curb. I feel Sprint CEO's are the ones hurting them not their customer service persons. On Little Rock AFB, the kiosk vendors do not even carry Sprint products. I feel Sprint really needs to do better in all of its markets.[/quote']
It is frustrating. And Sprint's Network Vision is going to improve every market and every site in the country. It is also bringing LTE over its entire coverage area. It's under way now and will be completed in less than 2 years.
However, Sprint nor its executives ever gave dates for Little Rock. The places where Sprint actually announced do indeed have service.
Store personnel would often take guesses of when it seemed plausible that their area would get 4G WiMax service. Because it makes it difficult to sell a 4G phone without network dates, so many just made them up for the sale. I was told Albuquerque would have it before the end of 2010 by a sales person, even though Sprint never had plans to. These were the people propagating that WiMax was coming soon.
Sprint was very concerned about Clearwire's cash position by Mid 2010 and knew there was going to be deployment problems. That is why they explicitly did not announce cities, not knowing what Clearwire was going to be able to pull off.
In some ways, Sprint is a victim in all this. And Sprint learned many lessons that they are not repeating this time with NV/LTE. This time they are deploying 4G LTE themselves on their own spectrum and are already on their way. With WiMax, they never planned to go network wide. But with LTE deployment, they are planning to go across the whole network.

Robert' date=' when I bought my phone, I was told the 4G would go active in mid Summer. I wonder if that rings possible on your end. What do you think? We have really bad 3G service in town except when you are close to the tower at the 5 points (Center and David st.). Most people are Verizon in Marion, but I always liked Sprint and their plans. Just wish the coverage was better. I am thinking of getting a repeater for the car just to get better signal, unless you say there is improvement soon. Thanks Robert. -Mark[/quote']
Network Vision will help your issues there. However, NV will not get to your area until 2013.

Hello there! I been lurking around this page for a while trying to get the latest on Sprint/Puerto Rico. Finally couldn't hold no more the anxiety that the NV Map was producing so i decided to join! and donate! so i could set my eyes on those tower locations, hopefully are close to my house! by the way am from the San Juan*Caparra Terrace area. Many dots around my house on the picture of future NV work in PR/VI market. Hopefully my English is clear enough... haven't practiced in a while
PS any news/tips/word on PR development is taken with great appreciation!
Bienvenidos! Your English is fine. We have many members from Puerto Rico. You are in good company.

My tower....
in Network, Network Vision/LTE Deployment
Posted
My tower map only says that 3G is live at the Network Vision sites that are complete in the Boston market. Because the site list from Sprint only had 3G checked. However, it's possible that 4G LTE is indeed live, but it is not getting checked off in the Boston market database. I'm looking for confirmation from Members in Chicago and Boston once they start getting LTE devices.
