Yeah, the workers ran the fiber cables and power to top of tower yesterday. I would think it should be completed soon.

Looks like a chime will be coming shortly.

I'm shocked how fast they're knocking that out. Hell if this city is going to be like that, it's going to be amazing soon.

Hey, the one on Lancaster Ave has fiber already. But still has legacy cabs and antennas. I thought they were going to be doing work sooner since I saw a truck there a couple weeks ago.

We need to start seeing more cabs. The cabs are dropped off and the installers bring the antennas, so we need that preliminary drop off first.

BOOM BITCHES

It's not staying on, in and out but there we go...

Looking at the GCI pattern...  it's a Granville or Groveport site (can't post IDs here).  Nice to see the pattern playing out.

I know, I don't get why they haven't dropped off cabs yet in the area. Unless they're just bringing the cabs with them. That doesn't fit how they tend to do things. Unless they're not moving east and are moving due north. That seems strange.

Your HEX Serving Cell aka GCI works the same way the Samsung Serving Cell aka PCI works. So we need them. Yours are actually better than ours.

I think it's coming from the Welsh hills, heading there now.

Remember when I was telling you that you were a valuable source to Columbus with your HEX IDs? Well this is why:

08615Dxx is the Serving Cell for all three sectors.

  • 08615D00
  • 08615D01
  • 08615D02

Without having to drive to whatever site that is, we know that's the three serving cells from that site.

I'm moving this convo over to the Sponsor side so we can figure out the Site ID, even though I know Digi already knows which one it is.

I'm not sure I understand your post.  I'm talking about the pattern based on site ID.

My bad, I thought you were referring to his LTE Engineering screenshot.

Anyone else mapping Granville lte right now?

Just you sir, from the patterns, they're just passive scans from people not associated with S4GRU.com

Ohhhhh. I see. Obviously you two have chatted. I'm not sure how the PCI is derived from data that say a GS3 would show.

PCI should be changed to POS for Samsung Markets. ;)

Haven't chatted with him but I did throw in the few I saw on the sheet and sent him a note about it.

Only HTC and Iphones show the GCI's.  I was able to lay down the patten many months ago for all the New Orleans sites and they've been dead on everytime.  It's kind of cheating though as you already know which site is when it fires up.  Kills the excitement and the hunt that I've done a few times hunting for which site I was on.

So as I'm sitting here chatting with digiblur, I actually share his frustration of calling something by the wrong name (i.e. panels). So I don't know if you all have realized, but it bugs the hell out of me when refer to Samsung's Remote Radio Heads as RRUs.

Ericsson makes RRUs

Alcatel-Lucent and Samsung make RRHs!!!!!!

Alright, now that my rant is over, please return to your regular scheduled program.

Excuse me sir, I think you made a boo boo or just really suck at making your point. I've attempted to show you where.

    • A heavy n41 overlay as an acquisition condition would be a win for customers, and eventually a win for T-Mobile as that might be enough to preclude VZW/AT&T adding C-Band for FWA due to spreading the market too thinly (which means T-Mobile would just have local WISPs/wireline ISPs as competition). USCC spacing (which is likely for contiguous 700 MHz LTE coverage in rural areas) isn't going to be enough for contiguous n41 anyway, and I doubt they'll densify enough to get there.
    • Boost Infinite with a rainbow SIM (you can get it SIM-only) is the cheapest way, at $25/mo, to my knowledge; the cheaper Boost Mobile plans don't run on Dish native. Check Phonescoop for n70 support on a given phone; the Moto G 5G from last year may be the cheapest unlocked phone with n70 though data speeds aren't as good as something with an X70 or better modem.
    • Continuing the USCC discussion, if T-Mobile does a full equipment swap at all of USCC's sites, which they probably will for vendor consistency, and if they include 2.5 on all of those sites, which they probably will as they definitely have economies of scale on the base stations, that'll represent a massive capacity increase in those areas over what USCC had, and maybe a coverage increase since n71 will get deployed everywhere and B71 will get deployed any time T-Mobile has at least 25x25, and maybe where they have 20x20. Assuming this deal goes through (I'm betting it does), I figure I'll see contiguous coverage in the area of southern IL where I was attempting to roam on USCC the last time I was there, though it might be late next year before that switchover happens.
    • Forgot to post this, but a few weeks ago I got to visit these small cells myself! They're spread around Grant park and the surrounding areas, but unfortunately none of the mmwave cells made it outside of the parks along the lake into the rest of downtown. I did spot some n41 small cells around downtown, but they seemed to be older deployments limited to 100mhz and performed poorly.
    • What is the cheapest way to try Dish's wireless network?  Over the past year I've seen them add their equipment to just about every cell site here, I'm assuming just go through Boost's website?  What phones are Dish native?
