  1. Notice no one has answered you. So I'll try. If we get Spark, and all signs on this site lead to that, I here that our competitors are getting 10 to 20 Mbps download speads. With Spark, in the early stages, we should get minimum 10 but up to 50 Mbps download. We are going to kick aaaaaa, until the Denver clientelle, wants to jump back on the wagon. We have lost thousands of Sprint clients in the last few months because of lack of 4g lte. All of us should have blazing speeds, as Robert wrote in this thead, yesterday or the day before. I am now open for rebuttle and my lack of knowledge...... Santa

correct me if I'm wrong, but seems to me the downside of spark is that it relys on 2500 mHz for all that speed, and those frequencies have really poor propagation and building penitration characteristics. The upside is that there should be plenty of spectrum with 3 bands in use, plus it appears that they are doing the back haul right. If I can get consistent 5 mHz or better on my mobile I'll be happy.

  2. Narf, that was me. I mapped Hamden and Havana from 225 to Wadsworth. All those purple sensorly spots, are me. I also mapped 225 and Parker road to I 25. My question, is if any of  you are in the area with a single band 4Glte, could you see if you can use 4GLte/ Thanks!

I was down in that area today, drove along Hampden between Quebec and I25 and didn't get a hint of LTE with my Galaxy S3. I also haven't been able to pick up LTE along I25 between 58th and US36 like I could before. Makes me think that these sites were only up for a short period for testing and we caught them in the act.

  3. Fyi, My lte discovery lite app is picking up 4g Lte from I25 and Hamden East to Dartmouth and Havana. I have to keep turning it off and on, as I have a Tri band. If any of you are in the area, and have a single band 4gLte phone, could you let us know if you are getting the signal and can use it? Thanks to all of you. Santa...

Sensorly shows LTE on Hampden between I25 and I225.

  4. I just think people are spoiled in claiming that they "need" ridiculous amounts of data storage on their handsets.  Most of those just want to haul around their digital entertainment libraries.  Ooh, that is important.

    AJ

Obviously most of us don't "need" to carry around lots of data on our phones, just like we don't "need" 30 meg download speeds, 5" screens (or even color for that matter). But for those of us who work on the road a lot it's nice to be able to keep our big music libraries, a few movies and lots of photos and docs in the phone. Right now I have a 64GB microSD card on my phone with about 40GB used. I also like the utility of being able to take the card out and plug it into a computer for fast data backup. Way faster than OTA or through a data cable.

  5. And I just got home and discovered 1x800 voice! Signalcheck says it's coming from 162 High Country Drive, Lafayette, about 2 miles from me. That's new too!

Just compared that to the top secret member only maps, and that site is marked with a brown dot, indicating it has yet to be upgraded. Since 1x800 would indicate that NV is up an running on that site, that would confirm that the work in Northwest Denver metro is farther along than the maps indicate.

One further note, I usually get 0 to 1 bar of service on the ground floor of my house. With 1x800 I am getting 3 to 5 bars. What a nice surprise!

  6. I have been re assured by merlin......

If you are referring to my post about incomplete map updates, this is something that has been mentioned several times in this thread publicly. I don't think I was sharing anything said in confidence. If I was I apologize.

Edit: Found this public reply from Merlin from a while back. No secrets were reveled.

  7. Yea, I think Westminster and Arvada are in need of a lot of work still.  I also live in Westminster, and have not received any text. a friend of mine who lives in Thornton, has not received the text either.  Though, I believe Thornton is a lot closer to being completed than Westminster or Arvada. Looking at the NV Completed maps in the sponsor section, details this further.

I have been reassured by Merlin that the work is much further along in the NW quadrant of the Denver Metro area than the maps would indicate. I hope he's right

  8. Do you guys know if WiMAX is still up and running here in the Denver area? I'm thinking of getting an evo or s2 so I can deal with these horrible data speeds until the nv build out is done.

As a former Wimax user I'll tell you that Wimax was very spotty in Denver and had horrible building penetration. It might not be that much on an improvement, especially with LTE very close now.

  9. This.

And the equipment roll out is nearly done. Acceptance phase is fast approaching and will move slow-ish. The acceptance of a site takes a bit of work. Vendor, Sprint, installer, and Ericsson all have to be on site at the same time to sign off on a rather large checklist. Takes about 2-3 hours per site if everything goes smoothly. At most 3-4 sites could go live per day. Acceptance is on hold until back-haul catches up.

As I look at the secret sponsor only maps it shows one quadrant of the Denver metro area that is virtually untouched by any work in progress. So I hope that the equipment is not nearly done.

  10. They are capable, but for an unknown reason, the TD-LTE side of the devices has been disabled for at least the next couple of weeks. So out of the box, no they will not be able to. However, Sprint says by early 2014 (hopefully sooner than later) they will push out an update to the LG G2 and Nexus 5 to enabled Tri-Band. No one is sure why this is, if we ever find out we'll be sure to let everyone know.

Perhaps the backhaul isn't ready for the influx of users yet?

  11. Starting to get weary of a smart phone that is useless anywhere with out wifi.  Any news on anything in the Grand Junction area? We've been getting 20kbps for a couple months now, sometimes 100kbps.

According to Merlin, you've got good news coming soon:

There are hardly any legacy sites remaining in Grand Junction. Look for your 4g to go live sooner than Denver (December?). I would guess that your connection woes are mostly due to the transition taking place rather rapidly and in an area with few sites that double cover.
