Just noticed that I am roaming onto a B71 T-Mo tower at home, and am still able to connect to VOLTE! As far as I can tell this is something new, previously when roaming on T-Mo it would drop out of VOLTE

Has anybody that's not on the beta received the January security update? My Sprint S9+ is on the December 1st update and my AT&T S9+ is on the November 1st update. Both say they are up to date. I wonder if they're waiting on the official Android 10 release now instead of testing and approving more Pie updates.
An unofficial post on the OneUI2 beta community claims that the beta has gone final and has been released to the carriers for testing. I don't know how accurate this is but it's been a while (Jan 6) since we got a beta update. Since the original roadmap showed a January release, it's quite possible that the next update will include Android 10/OneUI2.

Official won't be for a few months I expect as beta just launched a week ago. Also when you are accepted nothing happens. You need to go to manually check for updates and you will get the beta software.
I was able to use maps while on a call driving home so for sure volte is working!
Also, battery life seems to be very significantly improved. Not sure if this is just this early beta or not, but it's improved at least 50 percent. Other users are reporting same in beta app.
The roadmaps I've seen online show an official release in January. This beta seems pretty polished, I expect they found most of the bugs while building the S10 version. Samung moved to an official version on the S10 pretty fast, so maybe they will do the same for us.

Where can I this update for my S9?
Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
It's a beta program offered through the Samsung Members app. If it's still available you will see a banner offering a signup on the opening page of the app. It's beta,so not everything is perfect and Google pay won't work.
The official version is supposed to be available in a few weeks.

I don't believe unlocked devices had calling plus. Either way I never did.
My unlocked S9 had calling plus on Android 9, but I don't see it in the menus anymore. You might be onto something. Wish there was some sort of icon to tell for sure.

I disabled WiFi and browsed the internet while on a call. Which should be impossible without VoLTE.
Or calling+

I just got the One UI 2 beta with Dec security patch on unlocked s9. I toggled VoLTE on and it works! Just wondering why there is no icon to indicate that it is active.
How can you be sure your call is going over VoLTE?

By the way, although I have VoLTE turned on, It doesn't actually work yet. I'm in Boulder county Colorado which I think has VoLTE activated.

Have you had any opportunity to test with it?
Any ideas on how far behind the related non-beta updates have been running?

So far it seems pretty stable, only issue I've noticed so far is that Google Pay thinks it's "uncertified software" and wont work. Maybe a little less battery life, but its too soon to tell. It's got the December Security patch and a Dec 6 date on the kernal, so it's fresh out of the oven.

Great. Did you look at the ##DATA# menu and see any new aggregation options? Especially 25+41
Not sure where in the data menu tp look. Right now my phone won't connect in VOLTE mode and the data menu shows VOLTE disabled. I don't know if my location doesn't provide VOLTE yet or if Sprint has to enable my account for VOLTE or what.

Just got the first Beta Android 10 update on my unlocked S9, and there is now a VOLTE toggle on it. Hopefully this will survive the beta process.

I had Verizon 3G EVDO roaming in Laramie a few weeks ago. Does your device have roaming disabled in Settings? Or maybe you're on an old PRL. Try a PRL update the next time you're in the area.
Using Tapatalk on Note 8.0
Nope, I checked several times to make sure that roaming was enabled, and rebooted the phone a few times too. I'm on the current PRL 55051.

Anyone know anything about roaming agreements in the Laramie Wy area? I work up there occasionally, and in the past I always could get at least a 1X roaming signal. This week I was up there and nothing, I couldn't get any roaming at all and had no voice or data until I got to Cheyenne. I'm using a Note 4 with the most recent PRL (51)

Sorry if this is wrong thread but had a quick question. The tower I hit is still 3g but when I was logged into the sprint web site and check coverage it says my area is lte. I noticed the coverage map recently changed but obviously it's no accurate. Does anyone know why this is? I was thinking an update was coming but it's been like this at least a couple weeks.
Thanks
Because of the rules of this forum we can't talk about any specific tower info except in the sponsor forum. I will say that from looking at the sponsor maps it appears that the Denver Metro area towers are about 75% LTE. There are a few areas that are still mostly 3G, Notably, the US36 corridor between Denver and Boulder is only about 25% LTE, Highland Ranch and Englewood are about %50 LTE, The Southwest edge (Morrison area) hasn't been touched with LTE yet. And I70 west into the mountains has barely begun. There are also a few towers in Denver that are still waiting on the upgrade. As has been mentioned earlier, all the towers in Colorado have been upgraded to 3G and are ready to have LTE turned on, but until the fiber backhaul to the tower is ready Sprint won't turn on LTE. (No point in turning on LTE at a tower if the backhaul cant handle the data.
If you want to see specific tower information, you need to become a sponsor.

I can of course bang my head with Sprint support, but I'm pretty sure it's not the phone.
Looking back only a couple pages in this thread http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/2172-network-visionlte-colorado-market-denvercolo-springsfort-collinspueblogrand-jct/page-161
I see that I am not the only one in what appears to be an almost completely LTE-free zone on the west side of the metro area (Colfax, 6th Ave, Alameda, Simms.. generally whole Lakewood area and then some).
Where is one of those new LTE sites in Golden? I'll drive up to one of the towers and check if I have to. I used to have great band 25 coverage there all through downtown Golden, all the way up on Mt. Zion (the one with the "M" on it), and south past the justice center, all the way to the soccer fields at I-70 and C470. Now it's all gone.
[edit]I did just see something I've never seen before. Forced LTE at home, near Green Mtn, and got 1 bar on band 25 (tells me the band 25 radio is working at least, so can't blame the Golden issue on the hardware). I'm often very close to the tower it claims it's connected to, and it has never chosen LTE on its own there.
My best recommendation is to become a sponsor. We have maps showing the location of every Sprint site, as well as their current NV status. We get updates on progress every few days or so. At the sponsor level you can see for yourself the status of sites in Golden, and the rest of the Denver area.

Of course sponsorship is a good thing and I recommend it. Without giving you any specifics I will tell you that there appears to be a bunch of towers along US 6 and south that have yet to have LTE turned on. Overall the SW quadrant of Denver Metro is probably less the %50 LTE. If you want more info, become a sponsor.

...... Uhhhhhhhhhh. I just upgraded mine on a 2 year based on advice I got here. Is the network gonna end up like WiMax? Half assed?
Sent from my LGLS990
All the hardware is in place. We are just waiting on the fiber interconnects. This will not be like wimax, which relied on a seperate group of antennas for it's coverage. Virtually every Sprint tower is capable of LTE, and will be broadcasting LTE when the third party contractors finish the fiber backhauls. When all the band 25 and 26 LTE is online it should be pretty good.

I'm still struggling with getting LTE in Denver and AUrora. I see they updated the coverage map to include Cheyenne for 4g LTE data. I was hearing it would all be up by June 2014 (this site and Sprint stores). Has that changed to a later date? Is it my HTC 4g LTE phone? Sadly when I bought this phone, I was told by Sprint LTE would be available soon. That was almost 2 years ago. Would upgrading my phone offer more available 4g bands on the sprint network? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thx all!
Yes it's most likely your phone. The Evo 4g lte was one of if not the worst lte performing phone in the entire lineup. Literally every phone today is heads and shoulders above that one in terms of reception.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Well, it may not be just your phone. As far as I can tell the Denver market has about 20% LTE operating. The Network vision upgrade is about 99% done, but the data backhaul (fiber connectivity) is lagging behind and Sprint wont activate LTE on a site until it has a backhaul with enough bandwidth to support it. It appears that contractors are way behind with the fiber installations. So it seems that it's in the hands of third party fiber installers now.

Anyone having data issues when roaming onto T-Mo 600mhz? Even with full bars the data drops to a crawl at best, usually no data at all.
