I am hoping there is at least an "opt-in" way to do VoLTE on iOS by the end of 2018. Kind of like how Verizon added the feature when they rolled it out, but it wasn't on by default.
My market is totally ready for it, but I understand that many aren't quite there yet.

Is the Felton site live with LTE yet? All coverage maps lead to "no," but perhaps it just hasn't caught up yet. Maps were about 1-2mo behind for my home market.

Following up on my findings regarding the 80-85Mbps speed cap on this router...
Brother in law just got another one of these routers and hooked it up to his 100Mbps internet. He's experiencing the same thing. Whether wired or wireless, the internet will not test higher than 80-85Mbps.
I turned off Smart Connect, tried different SSIDs, doesn't seem to make a difference. If anything, I'm very surprised the wired side is limited to 80-85Mbps to the WAN. I confirmed both routers have a gigabit connection to the modems, as indicated by the connection lights.
I know flashing the firmware will more than likely fix this, but I'm not about to do that on 2-3 more routers as my friends and family get them. :-) Just curious if anyone has found a fix on the stock firmware, perhaps a setting buried somewhere that could be causing this.

This is certainly promising. Other markets like the seemingly forgotten West PA market now have 800MHz sites that have been found by S4GRU members.
These are fairly recent GMO LTE conversions so that is great news they're sending the techs back to improve them yet again. :-)

They are practically all GMO. For the most part, if it doesn't have 800, it's likely is a GMO.
Thanks, so single-band LTE until they are eventually converted to full-build? No chance of a B26 carrier card on GMOs? (I feel like I knew all of this back in 2013 but forgot!)

Is there any indication as to how these highway builds were done after going 3G-->LTE?
Are they still ground mount RRUs running B25-only with B26 planned shortly in the future? This would explain some of the LTE drops I've seen on I-81 and I-88 that were recently converted to LTE.

What would cause a Magic Box to not broadcast LTE, but be connected to GPS and the macro site? -117dBm B25 connection, has always worked just fine. Went to in-law's house today and had no LTE at all. Rebooted, no change.

Anyone running 11.2.5 beta? Voice call continuity was introduced in a beta on iOS, I'm curious if full-time calling plus or VoLTE is going to make the cut in another upcoming beta release.
Beta 3 just went live recently.

That's funny. I'm working on these for the next update. Upstate NY East market too.

EDIT: Here is the last site I had just logged:
Ha, awesome! Nice timing :-)

All of the highway sites surrounding Binghamton are LTE complete now as well, including the GMOs. (Despite what Sprint's coverage map implies) Apalachin, Owego, Vestal - all done. (Source: I drove to them)

When VoLTE is 100% implemented on Sprint some day, will LTE call handoffs to and from the macro network work with the Airave?
From what I understand, handoffs do not work in all scenarios over 1x CDMA on the Airave currently.

Got 125Mbps in downtown Binghamton last night on NYE. It seems like they finally provisioned more backhaul to this site. It has always been weak, I assume, due to a dense population of MVNO customers in this area.
Most sites around here have 3xCA enabled but can’t crack more than 60-80Mbps.

Like ingenium mentioned, using separately named ssid is to give better control over which bands are used and make it dead simple to identify which band is being used.
To make it real easy for guests and non-techs, instead of naming ssd with ghz or band (ie 2.4/g or 5/n/ac), label them fast and slow.
Then people will understand why their internet is slow, if they are connected to the 'slow' wifi, and try to connect to the 'fast' one if possible.
Not a bad plan, and I see how they can be used to enable band roaming, but I don't think anyone there is interested in knowing which band is being used. A single SSID and a router that auto-switches back and forth would be ideal. The Sprint one seems to do that fine, it's just the speeds are gimped on mine for some reason.

Get rid of the old non updated firmware and load up the standard Asus or Asus Merlin.
I did that briefly, but having two SSIDs was kind of clunky and pointless in a house of non-tech people. The Sprint firmware does band switching on its own which is very nice. I never understood having two SSIDs for 2.4 and 5Ghz... (Coming from an Apple Airport Extreme user)

I get 90-95Mbps on an AC connection with a 100Mbps account. Wired into the modem usually gets similar results.
Thanks. Might reset it and go from there, hopefully a replacement isn't necessary!

My region recently got a boost in internet speed from 60Mbps to 100Mbps.
We have one of these routers running the stock firmware at my in-law's house. The most it will do over wired LAN and wireless is 70-80Mbps.
If I plug their PC directly into the modem it gets 112Mbps.
Bad router or inherent with Sprint's firmware on these? Can anyone test on a 100Mbps+ connection?

I couldn't figure out a way to open mine without breaking it, so, I stopped. Did manage to get a good look inside and see the little antenna plates on both sides, though. An interesting device for sure.

Very cool. Anyone think of an explanation for the free LTE data?
Were you planning on buying the high speed pass had it not been included anyway?

My guess is Sprint is done with it. They have the magic box + calling plus, and the new Airave provides wifi as well as CDMA and LTE. No sense in giving out the router anymore when they can just give out the Airave 3 instead. I think the router was a stop gap for not having an eCSFB capable Airave.

Yeah, seems like it's at the end of the line for firmware updates as well.
I just ordered one of these for my friend last weekend, so they're definitely still offering it, though.

Good point. I wish I could convince my gym to get a Magic Box. 50Mbps outside, 0Mbps inside! Then my Watch would be usable.

I haven't experienced any issues yet, but then again I've only used my Watch for one call, and that was in an area where I get decent LTE.
If you forget your home wifi network, then throw the phone on airplane mode, does your watch have any indoor LTE reception?

Was in Albany today and found carrier aggregation in use. It was 2 5mhz Band 25 channels, 8321 & 8665. Gave me a solid download of 33mb and upload was 5 mb so definitely an improvement from the 5 down and 3 up I usually see in Glens Falls.
Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkIn Albany right now and B25 does seem healthy in most spots. 20-30Mbps downtown. Populated areas do suffer, though.
I also mapped all of I-88 on sensorly, it's nearly 100% LTE now with only a few drops to 3G due to geography/non-optimization. (I'm pretty sure all of the sites have been converted to LTE, though)

Interesting interview with VP of Technology at Sprint.
Even offers some insight on Massive MIMO hardware being software upgradable to 5G.
With that in mind, how long until our current B25/26 + B41 antennas are obsolete and need replacing again?
It seems like the current hardware is very future-proof and can be upgraded via software updates to support many of the emerging technologies that are coming out.

If the device supports B25/26 aggregation at launch, does this mean Sprint's network also will?
