Last night at 10:20, I got a very weak LTE signal at near university blvd and venneford ranch road. Signal check pro picked it up but the 4g icon didn't show up in the notification bar. It wasn't strong enough so I couldn't map it. The signal strength RSRP was -126 DBm and RSRQ was -13 DBm. It is interesting because I haven't seen any work on the towers in my area. I did just install the small update on my HTC One so maybe something changed in how it looks for LTE or maybe they are testing LTE around there.

For some reason, quoting isn't working.@realch1nky, no towers in Parker yet but there is a building permit that has been approved by douglas county for 13682 Colorado 83, Parker, CO 80138. It was approved June 24th so I imagine some work has been done on it by now. Also, there is a building permit approved for 2223 Wildcat Reserve PkwyHighlands Ranch, CO 80129, but for some reason the permit says it is a new tower. The only project in the douglas county planning records for that address is Sprint's modification though. Also, the tower is hidden inside the building on the corner of that intersection. He said they might be testing and mentioned a general area (which I can't remember). He was uncertain though. A tower will likely pop up in the completed maps sooner or later.

Yeah, I've been checking the site a lot and occasionally stopping by the tower just south of santa fe and c470. In other news, I stopped by the Sprint store downtown today and asked about LTE. The rep I talked to didn't know much officially other than it would be around 6 months but had talked to a customer who is a contractor working on the network. He said this customer said they will be focusing up north and going up the I-70 corridor this summer since working in the mountains in the winter isn't exactly the best idea. He had also heard about some testing going down in the Springs and guessed that they might start working north from there and south from the north side of Denver. I told him about S4GRU and he was excited about it (thanks for the info if you end up reading this!). Also, they're installing fiber on University Bvld just between county line and dry creek.

I predict that Douglas County is going to start seeing LTE in the next month or 2. A couple reasons for this claim, I asked Sprint on twitter when 80126 would see LTE and they said in a few weeks. I've asked other times in the past and never gotten a time frame so it is definitely closer. Also, I've been checking the Douglas county website for permits and it seems like Sprint just got over a hurdle. Douglas County has a planning services approval process you go through before getting building permits but they just closed a bunch of those presubmitals (they require a review before the application) with a note that the changes count as maintenance and don't need the planning process. This should fast track a lot of the permits.

I was able to get close to 15 down on the tower north of Denver on I-25. This was while moving so not the most optimal conditions.

Like you said, it isn't Sprint's tower. It is what is referred to as a stealth tower. Sprint does have many towers like it. Pretty much all the towers in Highlands Ranch are stealth towers.

I doubt it is being worked on yet since it is still in review. I've been looking at the douglas county site as well (i live in Highlands Ranch). My understanding is that these presubmittals are a review before they submit the actual permit application. As for the tower, it appears to be a white pole in front of the fire station. Most poles in Highlands Ranch and probably Parker are stealth poles so it will be harder to track them. I searched the Jefferson county website and couldn't find a permit for that site (but there are permits for other sites). Jbizzlefosho, I would say to just watch that site and get some new pictures in a few days.

I went by the active LTE tower today on the way back from the airport and was getting speeds of ~20Mbps down and ~10Mbps up right near the tower. My phone stayed connected until tower road (driving along 104th).

I'm living in Highlands Ranch this summer so I'll monitor some of these sites. One name that has been found is General Dynamics.

iansltx: AlcaLu actually still has one of the 3 buildings that Lucent used to have in Colorado, the other 2 are Avaya like you said. But they definitely have reduced their Colorado presence.
