  1. Hello everyone!! I'm recently new here, but I've been following this topic for quite some time now. I've been keeping a close eye to Kmshadoze's posts since I live in Lake Mary as well. I'm on the west side of town right next to I-4. I live very close to the Lake Emma Rd/I-4 tower (about a mile away) and luckily, I got to speak to one of the operators around 5pm today (I think their company name was "Western Towers" or something like that I didn't look at their logo). I asked him, "Is this a Sprint tower you're working on?" he said, "Yeah we just got clearance to work on this tower and install 4G" (I knew there was a birds nest up there so they needed to get approval). To cut the story short, he told me some good news and some bad news. The good news is installation will be done at least by Friday or by Monday. The bad news is that LTE won't be turned on till the middle of next month, he told me I have to wait till the Samsung or Ericsson vendors to come out and inspect it, but it could be before then. Once everything goes through, they'll switch it on........ At least it's not JULY now so it's ok, I can wait a little longer. Until then I cant wait, I will post speed tests once they turn it on. I drive around Orlando a lot as well and will track new areas with LTE via Sensorly if it hasn't been discovered yet.

Western Towers was also the company working on the tower at Lake Underhill and Huckleberry Finn Dr., near BJs/Lowes and the fire station a few weeks ago. Maybe all those towers will be turned on around the same time.

  2. If you can quote the source, then we will accept it. Otherwise, it stays in the sponsor section.

I don't want to make a big deal out of it but if you look in my original post, there is a link to the county's permitting website. Enter any of those permit numbers in the search field and you will see the tower ID listed under the "People Details" section. I will refrain from posting IDs in the future if that is what the site owners want but I don't see what the big deal is with the ID number unless there is some sort of agreement between Sprint and this web site to not publish those.

  3. Guys, make sure that sponsor information, such as site IDs stays inside the sponsor section.

Site ID and tower/antenna owner information is freely available outside this site.

Sprint/Ericsson puts it in their permit application.

  4. There is apparently a newly upgraded tower on McCulloch. Does anyone with mapping functionality live/work out there? I am also interested in seeing how the Curry Ford area (from Alafaya to Dean Rd) looks as far as signal strength. I am waiting for the Galaxy S4 to come out then I will happily map away on new areas. Thanks!

  5. Alright guys check this out! Got this LTE speed test on campus yesterday, 1/23/13 between 3:00pm and 3:45pm, and got these results at the North side of UCF campus. I found this connection while walking along Gemini Blvd in front of all of the fraternity houses. Also, I found an LTE signal on McCulloch and Alafaya, which was only a bit faster than when I discovered it before, and also this morning 1/24/13 at about 8:15am, I found LTE next to the North sidewalks exiting Garage A. It's good to see LTE in new areas again.

That is awesome! It is too bad you cant map it with Sensorly! Thanks for the update.

  6. Well I just drove all through Avalon Park.

According to Sensorly the whole area has LTE... NADA

I even toggled LTE/CDMA on and off and nothing at all. Either my phone doesn't work properly or there is no LTE in the area anymore.

I have read on other forums that sometimes you have to toggle airplane mode to get the LTE to connect. Have you tried that?

  7. I was almost hesitant to get an LTE phone knowing that the LTE coverage was not soon to follow. My thought process was that all the people with WiMax phones switching to LTE phones would now be only on 3g because the LTE was not available and it would slow down the 3g network.

Sent from my Samsung Galaxy Note™ II via Tapatalk 2.

That is the exact reason I have not upgraded to an LTE phone yet.

  8. I didn't get anything down curryford. I live cypress springs area and went down curry ford to alafaya and no 4g yet. So close but not yet. The tower I saw in Avalon is incredibly huge so that tower has some long range coverage I'm guessing that's why its out in bithlo and alafaya and lake Underhill.

Sensorly is showing a faint signal at the entrance to Cypress Springs at Curry Ford.

  9. I'm walking my whole way up that part of Alafaya today on my way to work, so I should have plenty of time to check out 4G LTE as long as it's still active. Thanks for letting me know. I'll keep you posted on what I find in a couple hours.

I wonder how far into UCF/Research Park the signal will reach. There are a couple of towers inside the campus so I would assume probably not too far but it should be good for that area of University Blvd.
