  1. Bout time I just hope this is true

SprintFreeMsg: Over the next month the new network will be largely completed in your area making it better than ever! http://sprint.us/network1

I got that same message and wrote back to it advising of the dismal service along Rocky River Rd, behind Harrisburg. I gave the the address of that tower I mentioned above in hopes that someone got it on their side.
  2. I've seen some of that too... has anyone called Sprint to help out with the coverage in the Rocky River / Lower Rocky River Rd tower by chance? They have a PinPoint system where the request/complaints about service go and there's a tower right at 8030 Lower Rocky River that Sprint could do themselves a solid, hanging off of. There's a desperate need for Sprint coverage out there that the other towers just can't really provide, even with 800.

  3. I like big....phones...and I cannot lie?

Might as well face it, you're addicted to...breas....phones?

Just to keep this somewhat on track, has anyone called retentions and asked for a G2 for free (since it's out there for new customers)? I think that'll be my plan for my wife and I to re-up in January.

  4. Hey guys, I submitted a request for Sprint's "Pinpoint" system to review the area around 8030 Lower Rocky River Rd, which is the address of a tower Sprint's not currently hanging off of. The service out there is pretty dismal, which most of the Cabarrus / Mecklenburg county folks know that have been out there. I've asked them to review the area along Pharr Mill Rd and especially Rocky River Rd. from that point out close to I-485. Service at that tower would do wonders for the Harrisburg area!

The girl advised me that the more people call in about it, the more quickly a team would go out and look, so I'm looking for help from some local folks here. :tu: There is no ticket number to be had. I'm hoping you guys that are also having issues out there would also call in and light their Pinpoint system up for that area because it honestly needs it. I tried to go through Sprint Chat but was redirected to 1-888-211-4727, option “4”. Hours of operations are: Monday - Friday: 5:00am – 2:00am EST, Saturday: 5:00am – 12:30am EST and Sunday 5:00am – 2:00am EST.

TIA to anyone that takes a little time to call in to help out.  :)

    • Charlotte - 25 updates (5 LTE)

Whaaaat?! They are going nuts with lighting up NV 3G right now and even getting in a handful of LTE sites!

Sprint could REALLY stand to put up some panels at the tower by Rocky River and Lower Rocky River (8030 Lower Rocky River). The service out there, especially 3G/4G, is just terrible on Pharr Mill, Lower Rocky River, and Rocky River, until you get close to 485. Even 1X barely hangs on to towers a LONG way away.

You just beat me to it.  :tu:

What did I just say on 10/9, further up the page? Patience is a virtue...  ;)

  6. Patience is a virtue, let's just hope that they continue to progress and eventually LTE will be available everywhere on the Sprint network.

I guess you guys didn't see the 21 updates just last week... Some weeks will be better than others. Especially when they're turning NV 3G on in droves.

Yes, I'm at CIC in 3A2 and I get no lte at all... I've gotten it in the courtyard after sitting out there for a bit, but even then it wasn't that good. Let's hope Sprint does this tower right the first time around, this is a busy area and if I don't get some good lte soon, I'll likely leave sprint cause I can't take it anymore.

Just looked at my phone and it says 4G, it's about time they got that tower upgraded. It's been working on and off, but mostly very poorly for the past several weeks now. I hope they keep the lte turned on from here on out.

I find it ironic that they finally got our work tower done RIGHT when I'm switching to a job next week where I can work from home as much as I'd like.

  8. I am picking up 1x800 inside of the Harris Teeter @ Rocky River & 485 but, for the love of.. I can't make a call. At Reedy Creek park I can make a call just fine. Also picked up 1X800 on West Blvd & Old Steele Creek.

I plan on taking Hwy 49 then 64 on my way to Raleigh this weekend. Will do some mapping

I think I understand why there aren't many LTE updates right now, they've deployed 1x800 on 2 towers in the Gold Hill area and another in the northern part of Concord (3800 Hahn Blvd, according to SignalCheck), towards Mt. Pleasant, according to SignalCheck.

I had 1x800 from Central Cabarrus HS over to the triangle in Concord (29/601, by the Ben Mynatt dealerships), and all the way up 29 to Kannapolis! My RSSI was -70s to -90s the entire time.

I also have solid 1x800 at my house now and all the way down I-85, nearly to Speedway Blvd from that Concord tower. I used the distance measurement tool from Google Map Labs and to check the distance between where it dropped and the tower and that's a 14-mile reach!!! :o  :tu:

I have the stock PRL still and it must favor 1x800 to some degree, as I had no 1xRTT until right before the Speedway Blvd exit. I made a few test calls to voicemail along the way and all were crystal clear. I had a RSSI in the upper -90s most of the way down I-85.

  9. I still have the stock PRL and held 1x800 on Rocky River from Hickory Ridge to 485 and up 485 almost to 29! I'm not sure which tower it was, as the Peabody, Mass location was showing up on SignalCheck, but that wasn't available just last week! I made a couple voicemail calls with no issue. The signal was fairly weak (RSSI was at best, -90 or so, mostly higher).

  10. I frequent the same gym quite a bit and can confirm my evo switches from LTE to 800 and then back to LTE. It's been happening along Rocky River Rd, Hwy 49 in Harrisburg and at Reedy Creek Park.

A few days ago Signal Check pro indicated I was connected to a 1x800 tower in Peabody, Mass

You're right man, 1X800 is definitely coming. I woke up this morning and noticed I had 800 off the tower in Gold Hill, South of Rockwell. I couldn't make a call out on it (network busy message), but it switched to 1xRTT (1900) and has stayed on that tower all day with a RSSI of -89 to -94... and that tower is well over *11* miles away, over the air!!! "Daaaang Gina!"  :o

I'm waiting for the next few reports from Rob because that tower should be flipping to at least 3G/4G complete. My EVO hasn't hit any of the towers IN Kannapolis for a better signal ALL DAY so far! To put it in perspective, the towers in Kannapolis usually give me a RSSI of upper -90s to lower -100s where I live.

I'm on the stock PRL still and seeing that Peabody, Mass tower once in a while too, so you know something's in the works.  :tu:

  11. I can't figure out the lte in that area, if I get off of Battleground or Westover Terrace it drops. The signal is very weak and seems to just run about a quarter mile down the two roads, can't make it where it's coming from.

If you look at the map that sprint uses to show what they have done in an area over the last 6 months it is not as informative as one would like.  At Wendover and Westover Terrace it says a data capacity upgrade was done.  The tower that is nearest the mall says data speed upgrade.  When they install LTE equipment does that mean speed upgrade or capacity?  Nice to see that something was done but not clear what.  It says speed on the north side of the airport but have not seen any sign that LTE has ever been available there.  You would think that would be a priority but on the south side says capacity.  I would think that it would not take this long if the change was made up to 6 months ago.

If you guys were sponsors, you'd know exactly where the towers are, like I do. ;)

That's with the custom PRL, right? Sprint REALLY could stand to jump on that tower at Rocky River and Lower Rocky River... coverage is really spotty over there.

  13. Turns out there's a couple outages in the Kannapolis area. There's a complete tower outage somewhere (not sure which one), a voice outage, and an EVDO connection ticket, which is the one impacting me... tickets from the Sprint rep:

    They are 1445970, 1712396, 1672369.

The 1672369 is the EVDO Connection ticket.

I'm going to ask them to prorate my bill when they finally fix it...I'm surprised it's not fixed yet, seeing as how this has been going on since Thursday. They might as well just light up the new equipment and make it all 800 now.  ;)  :D They seriously need it, as the 4G could stand to reach a little farther with my pathetic EVO LTE radio.

  14. I'm going to have to ASSUME (really hoping I'm right) that, with all the 3G updates in the Charlotte market lately, that this whole zero 3G in Kannapolis thing is part of the next wave of 3G conversions because I get either 1X or 4G...all over Kannapolis...as soon as I head over to parts of Concord, I get eHRPD with no issues...it's obnoxious but it'll be worth it if that's the case, since NV 3G is pretty decent.

It seems like it would make sense, since the whole Gastonia area got lit up with 3G first, and there is now a lot of NV 3G along the I-77 corridor...the next corridor over would be the I-85 area, north of Charlotte *shrug*...Hoping my hypothesis is correct here.

  15. I was over in the University area today near McCollough & Harris/Tryon and had ZERO LTE while in range of the tower behind the Ashley Home Furniture or the tower off Mallard Creek & 85, knowing I was in full range of both...I'm wondering if they're about to light up the NV 3G in the area...

  16. I know that tower sees a lot of traffic, which is why I don't understand why they didn't upgrade it before some of the other ones.

On top of that, it needs to be 800MHz right off the bat. I believe you work in the same giant building I do and the 1900MHz signal doesn't cut it in some areas.

  17. Have they began work on the tower at Harris and 85 yet? They need to get that done asap, I'm about ready to ditch Sprint over the poor coverage in that area.

Not that I've seen, and I usually go out for some fresh air most weekdays within view of that tower. I'm sure the 30%+ chance of rain almost every day for weeks now isn't helping either. :td: That tower gets rocked between the thousands of people that work in that area and all the kiddies with phones at Vance HS...
