  1. It seems the new iPhones (5C and 5S) will support the new Sprint 800MHz band. I just checked the devices' tech specs. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Seems like you're right. Missing TD-lte though.

Can we expect the 800/2500 rollout in the same fashion? Far suburbs inward?

  2. 800 is a lower priority. You only need it when you have a low 1900 signal, like inside a basement or far away from a tower. Your device will only scan for 800 SMR CDMA when the 1900 CDMA carrier have a poor EcIo ratio.

There are testing PRL's you can install that will force scan for 800 carriers. You can download one of these to see if 800 Channel 476 is being broadcast in your area. But these PRL's would not be good as a daily driver. We have one in the S4GRU DL Center.

Robert the sheer amount of information I learn from you is amazing.

So with LTE and EVDO-A being on 1900 I can expect the same amount of bars at all locations I'm currently having trouble with, correct?

  3. It will only be connecting to CDMA 1x RTT on 800MHz though. EVDO (what people generally refer to as 3G) will only be broadcast on 1900MHz.

Also, if you have a Nexus S as your profile indicates, you will not be connecting to 800MHz as that phone lacks the hardware to connect to the SMR band.

Sweet, hopefully when lte is on I'll get like 2mb down on one bar.
  4. Hey guys, might be a noob question. But I see that the tower close to my house has been set up for 800 3g. As far as I knew 800 would penetrate through walls better, but I haven't noticed an increase in the bars that I'm getting. Is there a way to see which band you're on?
