  1. Its a Sprint product...and the customer returned to a Sprint store. Legally,...they returned it. Period. But of course...its always recommended to return they Mb way Sprint instructs u too. Just to avoid any potential headaches. A contact of mine in FL went into Sprint corporate store while on his way to the airport, returned MB and closed his Sprint account..... he was moving to Australia. They gave him documents that said he did so. Been 3 months now. He says he has seen no issues from that. Edit: It was a company/business account...not normal personal account, so maybe that had something to do with it.
  2. U could just drop it off at a Sprint store. to turn it in. since they own the equipment. (like u do when u return cable tv boxes to companies like Comcast). However, no telling if the clerks there know how to send it back to the correct department and remove it from your account properly. Also, I have had one person say to send the MB back and have it removed from your account BEFORE your port out...else Sprint will charge u a $150 equipment fee...that is a huge pain in the ass to get them to refund even after u mail back the MB.
  3. I never had the chance to request one via website or email. they closed those invitations things ages ago. Just go the online support chat....whine that your data speeds are slow( i gave them speed test numbers for both inside and out side) and they will probably offer to send u one. I got minea week later via UPS.
  4. Is there a guide to what the signal stats and abbreviations mean for this MB? And the most "optimal" numbers. Just curious for fine tuning. I have: Service: RSRP: -94dBm CINR: 20.2dB Frequency: 2628000 Band :41 High LTE: TXPower: 25dBm EIRP: 34dBm Frequency: 2628000
  5. As far as i have read, u use the battery pack for the initial setup ONLY> so that u can move it around and keep checking the signal to get the Excellent signal, before u continue the setup. I did not have to do this as my first (and preferred) location for it got Excellent signal.
  6. What happens to the MB if i decide to change carriers? (thinking about porting to Google Fi after Sprint Free 1yr is up in August) Fi uses Sprint too...so my device would still be registered on the Sprint network. ANd since the MB shows as a separate device on my account, its own number and all...would that stay and keep the account active if i switched my main phone and number elsewhere?
  7. Well. Sprint did something good. I noticed my Magic Box had reset its screen brightness....seems it got a OTA. I was getting about 30-40/6 before.....now....65-80/7-8.
  8. "Boosts data signals – get more bars" To the the average user...that is all inclusive. To my roomate...data signal is just that. So she is upset that this isn't helping her when se reads that Sprint says it should in their adverts. "Accelerates LTE data speeds from the nearest Sprint tower. Increases average upload and download speeds by more than 200 percent" Again....average user...don't know the difference in the "G" vs LTE. And it doesn't say "4G" in those promotions. Is there such a thing as 3G LTE? I don't think so...I keep trying to get her to switch..but $13 a month is all she is willing to pay and "it just works" I did read somewhere that Sprint has some other type of devices that hook up to your own network that supports the phone call signal (1x?) though I don't recall if those did anything for the CDMA 3G bands.
  9. Is Magic Box only 4G LTE? I have a roommate that uses Republic Wireless 2.0 with a Moto G 1st gen phone that uses Sprint 3G network for data...
  10. nevermind....i didnt see the menu button on the upper right. under display format
  11. um....how does one set that.....there is no settings on this thing.
  12. Ah. Thanks for that. Quite informative. 2nd gen had e-ink display....wish they had stuck with that. no need for a backlite to stay on. Glad i don't have to have this thing in a bedroom. its still kinda bright even when it dims.
  13. I guess i have the 544 model the box says: P.Code: U544INU41A2DW5GA05SP So is this the newest model? is there a gen 3?
  14. Hello....I just got one of those Magic Box. model sku: ASPANMBGN2 Got some questions. I gather this in a "Gen 2" box. Does this have a built in UPS? (it will run on battery if power outage?) or do i need to get a normal UPS? if so, how many Watts does this device use under load? It came with a pathetic usb power bank to use for initial setup...but i didn't use it. I don't see a way that is used as a battery backup.
