  1. Yea that makes sense, I realize there must some political/corporate reasoning behind them not carrying the flagship of LG (considering Sprints relationship with LG being good over the years). Also how come when I hit the Quote button to quote somebody and respond to them directly it never shows the quotes and only shows what I typed in response?? I was trying to respond to member Jones above and it never quoted his response to me?
  2. Well there are certain areas of town where speeds are 10+ Mbps which is totally acceptable and nothing to complain about, but the areas around town maybe that I frequent more often and live see speeds hovering around 1-2 Mbps and sub 1 Mbps which is unacceptable to me in this day and age where streaming is more common for consumption personally/business wise and for my kids. Maybe the most disappointing aspect of switching back to T-Mobile is the amount of dropped calls more than maybe the speeds if I'm being honest. Don't know if it's because they are routing all of their voice calls over VOLTE and the airlink is more fragile doing it that way vs Sprint running their voice coverage over 1x and that being more stable?
  3. I agree with you that T-Mobile has the best upgrade program (Jump on Demand) /options. What is the easy pay option? I haven't heard of this in the stores when I've been inquiring lately on maybe making the jump over to Sprint? Agreed on the V10 I love this phone! I guess I can't understand why Sprint is shooting themselves in the foot with decisions that would clearly bring people over to them. Example: - Copy T-Mobile on the Jump on Demand program who cares if it's blatant, they did with the recent unlimited data match option @ $150 it would one less reason to stick with T-Mobile if that's a concern/holding somebody back. - Get a variety of phones on Sprint for crying out loud their phone selection is awful!! Not carrying the LG V10 when the other three did, maybe carry the new Windows phones (950, 950XL) for a variety and to set Sprint apart?? I just don't get some of their marketing decisions, meanwhile T-Mobile kills it in the marketing game no doubt!!
  4. Guys, need your opinion on a way around the lease with the Note 5 in about 12 months. I am thinking of switching over to Sprint and the only phone that appeals to me is the Note 5 since Sprint doesn't carry the LG V10 (current phone with T-Mobile). Anyhow I'm use to the jump on demand at T-Mobile where you can upgrade 3 times a year by just returning my phone and they wipe the balance clean and I start with another phone I want payment wise. Now my options are with the current $200 buy back (bring in any working smart phone and they give you a $200 credit towards any Samsung phone) it makes the lease $400 over 2 years. Instead of $25 mo x 24= $600 you minus the $200 credit and it's $400 divided by 24 mo = $16.66 mo Now you take that $16.66 mo x 12 mo = $ 200 rounded off (.08 cents). So the balance would be approx. $200 left in one year if I wanted to upgrade next year to the Note 6 I would have to payoff $200 just to upgrade?? Is there any way around this to upgrade every year without paying $10 mo for the privilege of upgrading annually? I can't remember the last time I had a phone for 2 years! I usually upgrade every 6 months to 12 months, and with the jump on demand with T-Mobile it hasn't even been something I have thought about because of your ability to upgrade whenever you want without paying off the bal and just turning the phone into them. Any way around this guys?? Thx
  5. Thanks guys for the feedback looks like integration within Google voice is the best way to do both a data session and a VOIP call at the same time since they're both ran through LTE.
  6. Thanks for the instructions on the Google voice integration Makes sense because the battery life back then wasn't the greatest with Wimax for sure! Yea I'll look into a hotspot and check the prices/plans to see if they're reasonable maybe that might be an option.
  7. Rackhivee - Can you explain to me how you would do Google voice integration? That might be an option as that would allow a data session at the same time you are on a Google voice call though VoIP right? Dkoellerwx - I use the phone probably about a 50/50 split between phone calls and data. I guess I've been use to using SVDO back in the day with the Old Sprint using the HTC Evo LTE and don't remember if you could before with the Palm Pre or the HTC Evo 4g (Wimax) and then of course my stints with AT&T and T-Mobile currently so this is kind of a bummer but I would probably adjust. AJ - Thanks for the clarification on that T-Mobile uses VoLTE and not SVLTE. I do remember that back when I was on Sprint the call quality on 1x was better than what I currently have had the past 4 years or so being on GSM networks. Houston_Texas - I'm hoping they do something by 2019 at least 2020 seems so far away lol......
  8. Thanks guys for the responses^^^^^^^ I guess that answers my question, being that Sprint will not have SVLTE for quite a while until like Deval said above LTE coverage is the same as 1x voice coverage -or- technology provides something for the handoff from VOLTE to 1x........... So T-Mobile's LTE coverage is the same as their voice coverage currently?? Is that why they can offer SVLTE, or is that just a benefit of GSM technology?
  9. Guys I'm new here, kind of did an introduction in the Market thread for the Denver Metro area. Anyhow I'm thinking of switching back to Sprint from a 4 year hiatus and was curious as to the capabilities of SVLTE currently on the new Sprint LTE plus network?? I read this quote in a XDA thread: "Until Sprint does VoLTE (Probably not until late 2015 to early 2016) this won't be possible. You can still do non-LTE data simultaneously just not LTE". I use my Bluetooth 90% of the time I'm on the phone so I have both hands free to do data sessions on my phone (currently with T-Mobile) so it's easy to do both at the same time, or when I'm tethered to my Surface to take calls and still browse. Guys tell me there is some kind of road map for this??
  10. Wow 95-99% complete for NV 1.0 is awesome .......I went to a Sprint store just northeast of me and ran a speed test and it pulled down 31 Mbps DL & 6 Mbps UL....when I checked the signal it was connected to Band 41 with a -108 dbm signal, so I was surprised with a weak signal it pulled down those speeds which validated what you said about a weak signal on Band 41 (don't know if it was CA or not) giving better throughput than a strong B25/26 signal! I'll see if I can become a sponsor so I have access to those maps, plus I think it would be cool to see the Sprint sites around town and the progress being made!
  11. Sprint will definitely save us money for sure with that 1/2 off promotion! I appreciate the feedback on the speeds here in Denver on your last trip, yea Colorado Mills is about 30 miles from me, I'm on the northern end of town in Thornton/Brighton area. If those are the speeds when it's congested 15 Mbps that's pretty good. Question for you: Is the Denver market 100% complete on all sites? Or is there some sites left that haven't had backhaul upgraded or ran to?
  12. Thanks for the link! Maybe I should've said that we are looking into the financial aspect of saving $$ and also improving on our network experience here in Denver over T-Mobile currently.
  13. Hey guys, My first post so go easy on me lol...... Anyhow I've been a lurker on S4GRU for many years going back to at least 2012 I think (don't quote me on that)? A little backstory, had 2 lines on Sprint from 2009-2012. Started off with the HTC Evo 4g (good ol Wimax), then went to the Palm Pre and my wife had the Palm Pixie. Anyhow I was pretty satisfied with the service back then minus the slow speeds through Wimax and EVDO and then the whole Network Vision thing came along and..... well everybody knows how that went when it started and the length of time it took to rip and replace the network and get up to par with the other carriers in certain aspects of their networks and the whole Softbank buyout and the firing of Dan Hesse. We then went to T-Mobile for a year or so and the speeds were great in 2013 when the whole uncarrier thing started but the quality of the calls and dropped calls were inferior to Sprints service back then, so we lasted only about a year with T-Mobile and went to AT&T for a couple years. The experience on AT&T wasn't bad per se but their speeds in Denver we awfully slow compared to T-Mobile and were getting kind of expensive to boot. So we went back to T-Mobile back in November (3 months ago) and thought that with the deployment of Band 12 and some network modernization that the experience with them would be different than what it was back in 2013. Our experience these last couple of months have been mixed to say the least, they are no longer blazing quick like they were a few years ago, I don't know if it's because of congestion on the network now that they have added so many more subs (nationwide 20+ million) these past couple years and taking over 3rd nationally but their network has been slow and I have dropped numerous calls with them lately. It has definitely been more dropped calls than AT&T but the speeds seem to be on par with AT&T here in Denver from my experience? We getting a pretty good deal with them now with 2 lines for $100 10 GB per line, unlimited data stash for a year and a free tablet that we pay $10 Mo for 5 GB of data and that line has Binge On activated for our kids and Netflix. So they haven't burned through the allotted 5 GB with Binge On which has been kind of nice for sure! Saying all that I have been disappointed with signal strength/speeds/dropped calls etc........ So I have been thinking of switching back to Sprint for the first time in about 4 years! With the 50% off special they are running and the banners all over town saying that they have the fastest speeds in Denver per the Neilson data I was thinking of switching over but wanted to ask you guys your personal expertise with the NEW Sprint network in the Denver metropolitan area?? The only negative I see switching over is that we won't have the ability to swap out phones like you can on T-Mobile with Jump on Demand (3 upgrades per year, just turn in your phone and start another payment with another phone). From what they are saying in the store I can only upgrade once every 12 months but have to pay an extra $5 per line to do so?? Is that true? Also the data plans on their (Sprints) tablets are definitely more expensive than what T-Mobile has us at right now (5 GB tablet W/ Binge On included). Sorry for the long winded first post guys but wanted to give a little background story and explain my thoughts on potentially switching over to Sprint to save some $$?? Thx
