Sprint on the other hand is 98% of towers with b25 10mhz, b26 5mhz and some still 5mhz b25. No 4x4 mimo, no 256 qam, no CA. It's like Sprint is 3 years in the past.

I feel like they may not invest in those newer technologies since they are still actively trying to merge. They are adding B41 to towers though so thats neat.

Good to see. I see some activities in Tallahassee, St Augustine but Gainesville and Ocala is minimal. St Augustine is honestly not good for Sprint. All of these areas have one thing in common. Almost no B41 towers at all. Surviving on b25 10mhz and b26 5mhz without 4x4 mimo, 256qam and almost no B41 in 2018 is difficult.

Are you still running all four carriers? My friends/cousins have been seeing declining quality on AT&T. Have they been declining in your area?

Network speed is holding them back. They need a little push. 15mhz b25 on every tower and more towers getting b41 equipment should fix this. It's all about how fast they are willing to move.

They are actually moving pretty fast in St Johns Cty.
A lot of those permits are Sprints, especially the ones from this year! I've personally been connecting to more B41 too.

Not sure if anyone keeps track of this anymore, but RootMetrics released 1H 2018 results for Jacksonville.
http://rootmetrics.com/en-US/rootscore/map/metro/jacksonville-fl/2018/1H
Looks like Sprint is just a few points behind AT&T. It looks very comparable between the two.

I read somewhere that T-Mobile had 4x2 MIMO on B12. Can anyone confirm here? So far my personal findings come to 2x2.

If they were targeting At&t it wouldn't have taken that much to undercut them. Verizon deliberately brought back unlimited due to T-Mobile, and while still being quite competitive on price.Verizon has released a promotion supposedly as a reaction to T-Mobile, but I still believe this to be aimed more as a reaction to AT&T than to T-Mobile. Besides, only those able to get Fios service will benefit from this promotion, which is a drawback to having regional landline service not be nationally available :

It shouldn't try to withdraw anything from your account as the balance is $0. That way you still get AutoPay discount while still paying with credit. So wait if you pay off your monthly bill before the Autopay kicks off, what happens to your bank accounts when it sees a $0 balance? I guess what Verizon and ATT is seeing is that as long as you sign up for Autopay then you will get the $5 discount?
-
One negative thing about the unlimited data plans from AT&T and Verizon is their autopay does not accept use of credit cards. Whereas, T-Mobile's autopay accepts them. Accepting credit cards is a pretty big deal, in my opinion.
From what I've heard, you can still pay with Credit Card, just pay your monthly bill before the AutoPay kicks off.

I think SignalCheck uses APIs for Qualcomm processor as it appears the signals are only read on devices using Qualcomm modems. Try Exynos/Kirin-based devices and you'll have a bad time. I think Mediatek processor (BLU HD R2) worked though so maybe Exynos/Kirin are using newer API that Signalcheck is just not utilizing.

3mbps is pretty slow. Imagine updating/downloading larger apps from the PlayStore or Apple Store. Something that could be downloaded in seconds is now minutes. I'm going to go ahead and just say that AT&T will discontinue this when it doesn't attract enough customers. The price for that tier of speed doesn't offer the same value that Verizon/T-Mobile give.

WooHoo, I was right! I knew there'd be a speed-capped data plan eventually! I'm so excited about being right about it, though I admit to being letdown by the pricing of it. 3mbps isn't bad, but $60 monthly is too expensive for that speed. Also, AT&T raised the rate on the 2-line deal to accommodate thus and the included hotspot, so I think AT&T is a bad deal in unlimited data without a discount. I suspect Verizon may raise its unlimited data rate to match soon, then they'll all start around the $90 monthly price point for one line.
However, I anticipate there being more speed-capped data plans as cheaper options, so I creates a thread for it here on S4GRU.
Which carrier are you on? Aren't you located in Chicago and on AT&T?
-
Which plan do their existing customers get pushed onto?AT&T just updated its Unlimited offerings. For those of you that prefer an article format, here's a link to The Verge. Both are available on Thursday.

I think T-Mobile is great for all network categories except coverage and reliability. Where I live, guess what issues carriers tend to run into? You guessed it, coverage and reliability. T-Mobile talks about coverage expansion, but I don't see a lot of talk on their end on reliability. Reliable connections are still kind of important, right? Or could it be I'm missing the boat on this?

I feel like that's been covered with their B12 and "Extended LTE" advertising.

Crazy to read how many Sprint customers are leaving. Looks like a lot of us depended on the subsidies to stay on Sprint. With that removal and Verizon being basically the same price as Sprint's current unlimited plan (for existing customers), I can understand there's little reason to stick around.

So many permits coming up from all carriers lately. It looks like the site behind Walmart on Phillips Highway is underway an upgrade again (last time it was for Verizon) and only Sprint/VZW is on that site. Maybe they are finally upgrading the Clearwire panels to B41 there? One can hope.

Looks like Son is going after T-Mobile again.

Unfortunately Sprint discontinued RingPlus support so I'm not able to monitor network upgrades on the field at the moment but I am still keeping a close eye on the permits. It looks like once the permit shows up, the upgrade usually takes place within 1 month after the permit is posted/approved.Looks like Sprint has been installing band 41 to a couple sites lately. I saw a few sites that I know for sure is 8t8r. Theres a few more I saw from a distance. When I'm in the area again I'll get closer to see. Hopefully Sprint gets more 2.5 rolled out. There's a major dropoff in speeds going from band 41 to band 25 or 26.
We will see. Their speeds are the only part of the network that needs to be addressed in Jax.

I have seen a few permits for St Johns cty for a Sprint 2.5 lately. About the same rate as T-Mobiles B12 permits.

For the heck of it, I decided to look at the local permits again since it came up in the Marcelo thread.
The last Sprint permit posted for St Johns cty was almost a year ago.

Hmm.
Yeah, I'd bet it's pretty hard to get permits approved when you're not applying for them in the first place.
Just a thought.
On another note, it's nice to see more subscribers.
When I look at local permits, out of every 10, I see 4 AT&T, 3 Verizon, 2 T-Mobile, 1 Sprint. And a lot of these sites are occupied by multiple carriers.
-
Same problem as always. Sprint has a plan, aggressive rollout goals and then they proceed really, really slow.
Sent from my LGLS992 using Tapatalk
They are blaming local permits but what's strange is the other carriers do not seem to be having these permit delays. I think it is just a cover up for some other reason. I read previous delays were from birds!

Late last year Sprint announced they were going to go full force with small cell deployment starting Q1 2016. I know they just released some information about 2017 and on but so far it definitely looks like they need to stay quiet and just focus on the work.
So far, according to RootMetrics, these are the scores for the major metros that have been tested.
Amount of First Place Overall Wins,
AT&T: 36
Sprint: 4
T-Mobile: 22
Verizon: 62Now there are still a hand full of markets to test, but so far Sprint's efforts haven't been reflecting on their performance yet. Thoughts?

Answer this question. Why would I need a Sprint Airave device in my home when my phone already has the capability of getting on my wifi at the house and making calls on it as seen in this pic.
Sent from my LGLS996 using Tapatalk
For simplicity. And if you leave the house while on a call that the call won't drop. But from what I've heard the Sprint airave isn't very good at handoffs to begin with.

Sprint is required by law to support GSM bands for E911. It may not show up in the FCC IDs because they were not tested.

I recently got Band 41 added to my local tower. Pulling max 80Mbps which isn't too shabby.
Also, Jacksonville results were just posted on RootMetrics.
