Simple pricing. No expensive overages -- just a soft landing to the next pricing tier.
Didn't someone (AT&T?) used to offer a plan like that?
-
Except you upgrade every 20 months not 24.
I would guess that most subscribers wait until the new version of their current phone (iPhone, Galaxy S, Note, etc) is released, and since that is the same time each year that would mean 24-month cycles. Even on a 20-month cycle that's only $21.60/month, not $30.
-
I don't see how they can do subsidized for $50 per month. $30 device subsidy built in, only getting $20 per month per subscriber. I just can't see that happening. If anything, I expect them to delink the device and the service.
Don't forget that the Easy Pay $30 plans are usually no money down, but flagship phones on a two-year plan are normally $199.99. Therefore, the subsidy on a flagship phone isn't anywhere close to $30/month to Sprint.
Most flagships retail for $650, but probably cost Sprint less since there is some profit built in to that number (for the sake of easy math, let's assume the phones cost $632.01). Once the customer pays $199.99 for the phone, Sprint only has to make up $432, which comes to $18/month over the 24 month contract.

USCC was the entity that actually tested the rural hub implementation with Sprint. Their participation in LTE roaming with Sprint is all but guaranteed. The question is how extensive it will be and will they be a part of the rural roaming partner program.
I thought USCC's LTE was on Band 12. How many Sprint phones can access that?

I just checked mine in view mode and all three are enabled, guess I will call to get my msl and check priorities

The MSL Reader app from the Play Store works on the M8 if you're rooted. Just hit "Continue Anyways" when it says that you're not on a HTC device. Much faster than calling.

The M8 should not be receiving 55019 at all, it is not the correct PRL for a tri-band LTE device. The network for some reason is sending you the incorrect PRL at some times. Do you switch back and forth between phones at all? If not, I'd suggest calling into care and having them file a ticket for an incorrect PRL being sent to your device. This is handled on a network scale, and the system may be getting confused by something, others may be having the same issues.
Yeah, I was switching back and forth between phones. Is the 51xxx series the correct one?
-
My M8 seems to keep switching between 55019 and 51101. I finally installed a ROM that allows manual PRL updates and installed my hacked version of 55019 that puts my Airave at a higher priority than the local tower. We'll see what happens when I install the WiFi calling update.

I just got some b26 in Wilmington. Previously I lost 4G when going inside my apartment, but now I get 1 bar of 4G.

I see that activating WiFi calling requires a PRL update. Is there a special PRL for WiFi calling, or are they just doing that as a housekeeping task?
-
So is this one of the rare cases where a PRL update could improve signal strength, or is LTE roaming not controlled by the PRL?

What's a good app for to use the leds as a flashlight?
Sent from my HTC One M8
I'm using the HTC flashlight from the M7: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2697025
I'm also rooted and use an Xposed mod that turns on the flashlight if I hold volume up for three seconds when the phone is off.

Mine is sitting on my doorstep according to UPS.com. I can't wait to get home and try it out.

Anyone know a way to turn off the shutter sound for the camera and screen shot sound? It still makes the sound even on vibrate.

What software version are you running? Are you rooted?

Swype has stopped working on my phone. It is in a constant state of restarting. No keyboard for any application, so I can't send text messages or anything. Restarting my phone didn't help.
Any ideas?
You should be able to switch to the HTC keyboard by going to settings, language and keyboard, and turning swipe off. That will at least temporarily let you type.
Have you tired clearing your Swype data? Go to settings, apps, all, click on Swype, and click on clear data. You might also want to click on the uninstall updates button, if it's available.

The Framily plans come with unlimited calling so the 5pm nights and weekends, and phone to home wouldn't matter.
Good point, but my bill would still go up $20/person (assuming $15/month phone financing).
-
I'm dreading the end of subsidies because my SERO plan is much cheaper than unlimited data Framily plus device financing, even if I get 7 people somehow. Plus I would lose the grandfathered nights and weekends starting at 5pm and Sprint-to-home features if I switched to Framily.

I think most people on XDA might not know what they are doing. The setting is still there, exactly where it was with the previous public release and trial release.

After playing with my upgraded phone in an area without Sprint service, I can confirm that the roaming menu in your picture only enables voice roaming. You need to root and edit the XML files in order to enable data roaming.
Again, I hope this isn't a new trend for Sprint. If I can't even get 1x data when roaming it might be time to finally leave.
-
When I signed up for Sprint there was a big warning that displayed that explained that your bill is always for the following month and that the first bill would be double. Same thing when I signed up for AT&T, T-Mobile, and (back in the day) Cingular.

It is the NFC icon. You can get rid of it by going into the setting, and turning off the NFC antenna.
Sent from my RCT6378W2
You can also get rid of it through a simple XML file edit if you are rooted. Just open /system/customize/acc/default.xml and change nfc_show_icon from 1 to 0.

I don't think they should be looking for data roaming under 4G settings...
-Mike
I meant underneath the "4G settings" button in "Mobile Networks", not within the 4G Settings menu.
-
That's strange, because most people on XDA weren't seeing the Data Roaming option underneath 4G settings without XML edits.I'm using the test RUU and I can enable data roaming and I didn't edit anything...

Ahhh. That is not normal. Did this appear in an update recently on the EVO LTE?

This was in the update released the other day.

I haven't had a chance to load it up yet, but the last few phones I've had (EVO, EVO LTE, nexus 5) all had domestic data roaming disabled by default and I had to manually enable it. Is it any different than that?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Roaming should be disabled by default. That way the user has to decide to enable it and accept the warning that they may be subject to fees, etc. Otherwise the user may not realize they are roaming or that there are limitations to roaming. It would not be good form for Sprint to enable it for their customers.
Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro
The difference is that the option to enable roaming is hidden unless you make xml edits.

But existing customers don't qualify to have the per-line fees waived until 2016, so they're looking at $60/month more for a family of four.
