Well it could be worse, like 40000 workers on strike.
http://www.nbcnews.com/business/business-news/nearly-40-000-verizon-workers-strike-wednesday-n555141
Although I think the wireless workers are not involved.

I know I just wanted to clarify to others since there's a silent period with the 600 auction. My second line was joking back.

I wrote 800 not 600 auction. No need for silencio, necesitamos respuestas.

I haven't seen anything on northwest and west side. Did anyone else try to get info on the 800 MHz auction? Maybe if more people sent emails to the link I provided they may respond.

Wow. In Puerto Rico we had two services which kept prices somewhat competitive. One purchased the other a year ago leaving one. Here $69.99 gets you 40/4 Mbps and that's the second cheapest option. The first is 10/1 Mbps and that's $49.99.Not bad pricing at all for 1Gbps $69.99. Beats my Cox HSI pricing. https://epb.com/home-store/internet

I've been trying to find out myself with no luck. This is the email to the company that ran the auction. Hopefully someone can get an answer. B26 is very important here as all structures are hurricane proof (cement). Also, any word on the band 26 auction?

"With the success in making TD-LTE a global standard and the convergence of TDD/FDD, GTI 2.0 will continue to help the whole industry benefit from the evolution of TD-LTE, TDD/FDD converged networks and global smartphones, and promote a unified 5G standard and mature end-to-end ecosystem, as well as explore cross-industry markets and opportunities."
Interesting article. Everyone, worldwide (including T-Mobile) is looking beyond 2020 as realistic 5G commercial deployment. How the heck is Verizon going to launch their 5G next year?

For those who think Softbank/Sprint aren't looking into 5G:
From July 2015.

The other carriers know Sprint is going to launch 3xca and have the fastest network. They can't match it so they are desperate for 5G now. This 5G testing/talk is just a ploy to prevent customers from switching over to a faster and more affordable carrier.

About voice. This link is from 2014 so I'm sure the tech has improved as the latest news states. This is about using small cell with satellite.
http://www.gilat.com/dynimages/policies/SM_Apr2014_Gilat.pdf
" Gilat technology also minimizes satellite space segment overhead by applying efficient voice and data compression combined with satellite bandwidth allocation on demand, which reduces satellite OPEX by up to 80%, compared to traditional solutions."
It also mentioned only around 34 users using voice and data at a time. Maybe the recent developments expand that number as that is very little and probably why it hasn't come to the U.S.

LOL. I couldn't help but think of this.I'm not picking up shit on my 6s ????
Just comb the city.

True, but I would guess both since they are going to use it as part of their cell phone carrier in Japan and then Sprint. It doesn't really make clear whether they mean 3G voice, 3G data, or both. Could just be 3G data.
- Trip
Like you said I wonder if voice would be separate or VoLte.

Don't they already do with 3G?Saw you edited to add this. To which I say, it is if you're trying to make a phone call.
- Trip
"SoftBank has already succeeded in providing cost-efficient 3G mobile communications in Japan, where it is difficult to build facilities for fixed-line and mobile communications, by using satellite communications as backhaul."

Lol true. I posted that to also show the extent that people will go to criticize. That was on page 49 on a 5 year old document. The speed of light hasn't changed lately as far as I'm aware.
- Trip
Well I'm not sure he was critical or just sarcastic. Either way, low or high latency isn't a factor in desolate areas.

Nice try. That document is from April 2011.From the Gilat Skyedge II sales doc "TCP performance over satellite without special treatment is impacted due to the latency introduced by the distance between the Earth and the satellite. Typically this distance translates to a latency of between 240 to 280 msec, depending on where the sending and receiving sites are in the satellite footprint. This makes the round trip time due to propagation delay at least 480 milliseconds."
Half second ping times are not going to make for a very good mobile experience. Delay in opening webpages is going to be reminiscent of dial-up.

I think having any mobile experience in isolated areas is a good experience. From the Gilat Skyedge II sales doc "TCP performance over satellite without special treatment is impacted due to the latency introduced by the distance between the Earth and the satellite. I'm sure if T-Mobile did this there would be a massive celebration of the upcoming "Super Duper Extended Range LTE"

Yeah this would suck in the mountains. If by awesome you mean terrible latencies and limited bandwidth, then yeah, it will be real awesome.
"The latest trials demonstrated FTP downlink rates of up to 100Mbps using actual mobile handsets, which until now have been very difficult to achieve."

Not sure if this requires it's own thread so I will just leave it here. I was always curious about using satellites. Does anyone think it will be used in the U.S.? This would be awesome.

I drove to old San Juan. I couldn't really check well because I was driving and it was raining. I first noticed b41 on the highway near Plaza las Américas. I opened LTE discovery and then a speed test (while driving and getting angry looks from the wife)
We went to Old San Juan where it was very busy and 2 cruise ships were docked as well. I opened signal check pro. My G4 kept switching back and forth with b25. I did a speed test on both bands and you can notice the congestion. Maybe the B41 site was new and not fully optimized.
