  1. Looking at the features Apple has shown off so far, the biggest thing I'm looking forward to is Control Center so I can quickly turn on/off Bluetooth for connecting to a speaker in my car, and on/off airplane mode when looking for new LTE sites.

I'm a little nervous about the typography and hope that the fonts aren't too thin to read quickly.

The signal dots are different but I'll get used to it. I don't normally look at the signal much unless I notice that call reception is poor.

I'm glad they lost the skeumorphism or whatever it was called. Wasted too much space in Calender.

I like the increased gestures to make one-handed operation easier.

    Multitasking improvements look nice.

AirDrop I'll definitely be using as my family have iPhones as well, so I can share photos more easily than via email or Drop Box.

I suggest checking out the keynote around the 1:30 mark to get a good overview of things.

I see the trolls have arrived.

Yep.. y'all rang the dinner bell with post 3.

Glad to see that you admit you're a troll. I never go into the Android sub forums here. Why can't you just ignore this forum?

  3. Does anyone else watch BBQ Pitmasters? I am always hoping that someone would do ethnic variations of BBQ (like Char Siu).

Does anyone have experience with Turkey Fryers? I am thinking of purchasing one.

Just bought a turkey fryer today for tailgating and maybe Thanksgiving. Hope to try it out soon.

  4. Some pretty nice changes to iOS.

    • Airdrop looks pretty useful for sharing photos with nearby friends.
    • I like the improved integration between Maps and Calendar and being able to add travel time quickly to an event.
    • The app drawer from dragging from the bottom.  About freaking time!  I missed being able to quickly turn on/off wifi/bt from my Android days.
    • iTunes Radio looks like a Pandora/Spotify killer.  Plus there are zero ads if you are a iTunes Match subscriber.

Looking forward to the Fall.  Glad it supports  iPhone 4 and up and iPad 2 and up.

  5. Murphysboro, IL has 17th Street the only 3 time world champions of barbecue. The world championships are held in Memphis. That's a pretty killer BBQ city too. Everyone talks about KC and Texas, yet those places get glossed over when they more than hold their own.

Memphis BBQ is good too.  Had some good stuff when I was in Nashville last year.  Haven't had Carolina style yet.  I hear their pulled pork is something special.

  6. Uh, no. The update still does not allow AWS W-CDMA 2100+1700.

Are you under the mistaken impression that T-Mobile's PCS W-CDMA 1900 refarming effort is even remotely close to finished? It is not and will not be for another year or two.

Are you under the mistaken impression that a lot of people are affected by this? T-Mobile has said there are 2M iPhone users total. iPhone 5 users will be a minuscule part of that considering the iP5 has been out less than a year, and any unlocked users would have had to pay $599+ to get one.

Those few unlocked users, which have been dealing with being on slower speeds, now get LTE in seven large markets as well. If they're not in those markets, they at least now have visual voicemail, no more manually configuring APN settings for MMS, a 4G indicator, and more. And if the-few-the-proud unlocked AT&T users are truly bothered by this, they can easily sell their unlocked iPhone (at a profit in many cases) and buy an official T-Mobile unlocked version for $20 less than the AT&T one.

T-Mobile could have easily not bothered with pushing out any update at all. They've certainly done that before with Android users.

  7. I'm not sure why this is, but on the iPhone 5 I've only been able to get the ##UPDATE# (update PRL) function to work when I'm in a wifi network.

EDIT: I stand corrected, I just did it OTA. However, I've noticed I get the "update failed" message much more frequently than when I was on my 4s.

I manually did the latest update a week ago. I did notice that I had to reboot my iPhone 5 before it took effect.

  8. There is still angst, as Apple is still withholding band 4 W-CDMA 2100+1700 from the update.

    Ok.

The update is out now. Looks like those that had an unlocked AT&T iPhone 5 will be able to function well on T-Mobile.

Considering that one of the reasons I switched from T-Mobile to Sprint last year was TMo's poor software upgrades on Android phones, I'm surprised that T-Mobile is doing this much.
