I also saw the 4G indicator on my Note 2 as well as my Tri-Fi Hotspot at lunch and took pics of it connecting. I ran sensorly and had it mapping for about an hour.

Its interesting to note that todays sightings by Andy pslee and myself were all over the map. I'm curious myselft to see what site was sending the signal out. Probably was a few sites being tested since the range is far from pslee and andy. (See image)

Also note, that the signal must have been coming from the north side of Queens Hospital (where I work), since everytime I went to the south side of my work area (on 8th floor), it reverted back to 3G. Walk across to the north side of the office and 4G again. Outside I was getting a good signal.

There's also LTE on the LIE by Utopia Blvd.

  2. As an employee of Sprint and a New Yorker is killing me that the Bronx seems to be getting all the LTE love. Last time I checked Where I live(Manhattan) there's only like 3 LTE sites up and running. I did notice Flushing is getting some Network Vision love this month, Manhattan has been getting Network Vision but no LTE. In some way I'm glad that the Bronx is getting it first, I'm traumatized with the way NV was handled in Chicago so many customers I had to talk of the ledge due to these hand off issues. For now I'll be using my SG3 alongside my TriFi for some great WiMAX speeds.

They told me that some towers in Flushing are getting LTE soon this month also! I'm glad to see Queens getting LTE soon

Work started in all the boroughs at the same time. If you look in the Sponsor maps, you can see they are working everywhere in NYC and Westchester. However, the crews in the Bronx are able to get their LTE sites up first. Work is still ongoing in Manhattan. There are more sites in Manhattan than the other boroughs combined. It will take longer.

Why were they able to get the Bronx LTE sites up first?

  4. Maybe its due to cell breathing.

The way I understand cell breatingbis that when a tower gets overloaded, it'll shrink its coverage area slightly so that more people connect to another tower. It might be that, that tower is loaded and is pushing you off to the next and your phone is flip flopping.

All the towers around my house have 3G NV and the same thing happens to me

funny thing is, when i run speedtests in littleneck queens, i get these speed consecutively. i get great ping and speed for one test, and on the next test like 10 seconds later, i get 500+ping with slow speeds. very odd and i do not know why.

That happens to me also when I'm connected to a 3G NV tower around my house .

  6. I was in East Meadow Long Island at WalMart and the speeds were insane. I don't think the towers were NV'd. I got a ping of 66 once. Most of the time it was between 70 and 100 ms. I almost got 2Mbps on my first speed test and the uploads were very close to 1mbps consistently. I wish all of the city was like this.

Every time i go to Long Island i get good data speed also maybe since there's less building in the way or not so many people connected to the towers .

  7. i am no expert in anything regarding setting up the towers for lte services but this seems very slow. it has been more than couple of weeks after the brooklyn tower lit up and i honestly do not see anymore updates on sensorly for the past 2-3 weeks.

There is a few more places that have LTE towers some they havent been mapped!! Become a sponsor so that you can be able to see the update map and see where those towers are at.

  8. From the way NV is looking, it seems like they move to one area and then scatter to the next. I guess the Bronx was an exception or at least it looks like that from sensorly. Do u happen to be in the east side of manhattan?

Or maybe they are just testing LTE in those areas and then pre- launch it in the area which might be very spotty.
