  1. Didn't someone get the same thing from another tower off Taylor Rd in Reynoldsburg? Showed up once or twice and went away?

Someone thought they saw LTE, but I went over there and saw nothing. They could have been testing it, but I didn't see anyone at the site working on anything.

  2. Where was exact location? 161 near 37,310?

The person that posted that only has one post on this site, so I'm not sure if they're checking this regularly and they didn't give much info. I'm guessing it was near the intersection of 37 and Granville St/Raccoon Valley Rd.

  3. Did another tower go live?

Noticed on the Sensorely map that when going north of Morse it fades out, but there is now some pretty dark purple near on 71n right near where it hits 270 near westerville.  Then it stops of course, but still it goes from light signal to very strong signal right there.  Wonder if a tower in that area went live and it just hasn't been mapped yet.

Or it could be that a Galaxy Nexus polluted the results. I'm thinking it's that, given that right next to that dark purple it shows really low signal.

  4. Took a screen shot of received LTE while out on a walk in GC, near Old Haughn and Orders area:

I'm not sure why it says Piketon, OH, as that's about an hour south of where I was.

Speeds probably pretty slow as it looks like on Sensorly, the LTE signal is pretty weak there. Note that your signal strength in that screenshot is of the 1X site you are also connected to, and does not represent your LTE signal strength.

  5. Good read!

I left TMobile for Sprint 'cause of the iPhone 5. I didn't want to wait for them to start carrying it. I despise VZW and ATT is worse than Sprint for service.

My wife is still with TMo and recently upgraded to the iPhone. Now she's laughing at me because she's picking up their LTE while I can barely get data to work.

She warned me. I hate it when she's right!

Take her 5 minutes outside of 270 and see if she still has 3G.

  6. An AT&T guy in my office today working on some T1 circuits.  I was BS'ing with him and asked him about fiber.  He said he works on it and there's a whole crew in town that does nothing but fiber for Sprint recently.  He said they just installed one yesterday at a tower and I tracked it down to be CB73XC043 (270 & Georgesville Rd on SW side).  He said they are installing them all over the place in town for them like crazy recently - said it takes nearly a whole day just to install/provision the equipment once the fiber is ran to the site..  Good sign though!

Yeah I think AT&T is doing a large portion of the work here. I know they're handling the tower by my house (Lancaster Ave tower in Reynoldsburg).

  7. I don't know if it means anything, but I saw a crew on a tower at 270 and 23. I don't even know if it's a sprint tower, but I thought I'd throw it out there. Guys on the ground and up the tower.

    South side or north side?

  8. Our conversation was 3G/800 related.

Obviously, these dates are projected, but they are straight off the outage reports the Sprint tech had available to him. The was a 2nd level tech, btw, not first line support.

He assured me by the end of the week I would be very happy with my service. He gave me his direct line to contact him and advised he would contact me on Friday to make sure I was happy with the results.

If the second level guys gave you that info I'd put a lot more stock in it. I hope it's true! I'm just skeptical of timetables anyone gives me, anywhere. Would it make sense for all those towers to go down at once for normal maintenance, of course not.. But it's Sprint and their aging equipment.

  9. Oh. My. God.

Cell service in Westerville is horrible at the moment. It's taking me upwards of 10-12 minutes to get a call to go through. Keep getting call failed. Inbound calls don't happen. The only way I know someone called is when voicemail goes off. This has been going on since yesterday morning. I spend most of my day on the phone for work and this is very painful.

Ok so the reason for my bitching? I called Sprint to log a complaint. Turns out 2 of the 5 towers are completely down, two more are in a degraded state, and the last is functioning. 2 are scheduled to be full service by 2pm today, two on the 26th, and maintenance on the last (which is the only one at full capacity now) on the 27th.

Y'all know what this means!! Yup, confirmed. Westerville is IN PROGRESS! Woot!

When they say it gets worse before it gets better, that definitely applies here. I wonder when they told you full service by 2 PM today if that's just normal maintenance or NV upgrades. Guess we'll see. I still wouldn't count on that 2 PM time being 100% correct. Things get delayed.

  10. Its only been a month since or so since the first NV site went live and look at the progress. If you look at the progress of other cities the argument that it'll be December 2014 is mere trolling at best. The market with full 3/4G in 1900 and 800 is set to be 100% complete by mid 2014. As it is now the plan is to officially announce the market in the very early part of 2014. One thing to note however is the new financial backing by Softbank at this stage in the NV rollout. Sprint cannot begin to promote its network until it is something to be proud of and Softbank is not going to sit around and wait. The rollout will only continue to be more and more aggressive as Softbank plans to dump another 8Bn. in our network rollout this year alone. I would predict that our market will be heavily saturated in NV both 3/4G by Dec. 2013.

December 2013 sounds reasonable for heavy saturation. Next few months should be fun around here.

  11. Is this for Ohio or Columbus market. Also, are we looking within 30 days?

Was going to ask that too. Either way, sounds like things are going to really start picking up. Decent amount of sites with backhaul ready and a lot more coming. That's good stuff there.

  12. Ill keep it short.

    26 3G towers on 1900mhz,

    14 on 800mhz.

78 confirmed dates for ethernet delivery.

    16 sites live with ethernet.

97 sites with construction complete awaiting backhaul.

    281 sites with construction begun.

equipment has been delivered to 144 sites.

And only 96 sites still needing approval to begin work.

Have a good evening S4GRU nerds :tu: .....Oh and IMEX..standby for some LTE

It's okay, go ahead and drop the mic. :)

  13. Basically, backhaul that's not provided by the local phone company (or microwave).

    Gotcha.

Could backhaul being put in relate in any way to them re-running some form of power lines on the telephone poles? Because the tower in Gahanna off Taylor Rd near New Albany/Reyn Rd has had workers on New Albany Rd now working on various things for weeks. Yesterday and today saw what look like oil rigs drilling in two separate places a few hundred yards apart, then see spools of wire and guys up in cherry pickers at the telephone poles.

I took pictures if that helps.

  14. Stopped by the tower on 33 & US42 (on way to Marysville). The RRUs were mounted, new cabinets down and even had Time Warner Business Class box on inside of fence with fiber ran to it. Everything looks good to me but who knows what's inside the cabinets.

There was a couple other towers accepted in the Marysville area so maybe just missing something small here. Also, this appears the first sign of AAV backhaul that I'm aware of. TWC does have a fiber ring in the area.

That's cool, but what's AAV backhaul?

  15. Speed tests in Westerville (north of Polaris and Rt 3) have been crap for a few days. SpeedTest app giving 0.00 Mbps downloads. I was too lazy to flip it to Kbps to see what I was really getting. This week has been >1 Mbps. Hoping that's a good sign for things to come.

As to the Star Wars conversation... I read that it's not a remake rather like episode 7.

I just got 1.7 on the Lancaster Ave tower in Reynoldsburg. Pretty crazy speeds for Sprint, even it it's off peak.

  16. Theres like 9 3G 800mhz in the market i believe. Im not sure if the Morse Rd tower is off the top of my head. I'll check tomorrow. I should be getting a swell of info on NV this week so stay tuned maybe it'll be something exciting.

Help us Obi Wan, you're our only hope.

  17. I'm hoping i may have some good news from Sunbury soon, normally I have amazing coverage in my apartment (5 bars at all times) but for the last couple of days i have been kicking in and out of roaming, here's hoping.

You could call and open a ticket. Worst case is they tell you they're working on it and it'll be done in a couple days.

Heard from a coworker the other day that he's been seeing roaming some in Columbus. That's unheard of for me. I told him they're likely doing work in those areas. I'm not sure where it was but I know he lives near Polaris.

I would take the LTE part with a grain of salt. NV yes, LTE I have a feeling the whole area is way behind on backhaul.
