  1. When is LTE going to be in the downtown area? I see all this LTE out of Columbus none what so ever in the heart of downtown.

I think what they're trying to explain to you is that the reason for doing this from the outside in is to attempt to minimize network disruption. If we think we have it bad now, it's nothing compared to if they worked the opposite or did sites haphazardly instead of clusters. For better or worse, we're benefiting from the debacle that was the Chicago rollout.

  2. So... When it comes to voice service, the standard PRL will only go to 800 if there's nothing else available, right?  The last few days, the voice service at my house (in the E Broad and Lancaster Ave area) has gone completely down the drain.  It's basically not usable.  Signal Check tells me it's because I am connecting to 1x800, and the signal on it isn't great.  Throughout these few days, I will periodically see the old 1xRTT signal I'm used to pop in, then voice works just fine.

So anyways, I'm like 99.9% sure this is just an intermittent tower issue like we've had all through this roll out, but in the past I would never pick up the 800.  Just wanting to be sure this isn't a problem by design.  If it is, I need to be calling for an airrave...

Yeah that tower hasn't had any work done yet. Frustrating but "one of these days"... We're in that no mans land between pockets of NV complete work and can cause some issues with voice. Like you, I rarely use my phone at home so it's not really an issue.

  3. Sorry if this seems slightly off topic, but about once a day my iPhone 5S says no sim installed. It then drops the connection about 2 seconds then reconnects to the network. I've restored it and gotten a new sim, neither of which helped. Could this be because of network upgrades or do I just have a hardware issue on my hands.

Sounds like a hardware issue to me. Just make an appt at the Apple Store and take it in for a new one. Should take 5 min.

  4. yes that's correct, but my understanding was Sprint set the iPhones 800 voice priority as dead last.. maybe thats what happening though.. the voice seemed to get better as they flipped on more of those 800's south of me ( off main street near 270 )..

You're probably getting 1x 800 when you're inside there and on your phone. Which is new in the area.

  5. I was confused at first, I was about to say, there is not a Kroger at 270 & Broad. But yes, a lot of sites in the area are being fired up. They wen't 3G a few days ago and now are in LTE testing for acceptance.

Thats the one I got earlier. Probably main and Livingston.

  6. 3G went live in Pataskala and Newark areas this morning around midnight. Lancaster should be tonight or tomorrow night.

Cool. I'll be coming through Pataskala on 310 from 161 this afternoon. I assume we're talking 3G, or is this LTE? I can't remember if they launched 3G yet there, and am too lazy to look at the map.

  7. Shoveled one person out of the street and back onto her driveway.  I will post some items on the sponsor forum while we wait for our plow...

We never even get a plow. I think the last one we got was a few years ago after a big storm, but that was several days after the other roads had been cleared.

  8. Well we've seen a lot of work happen fast bere. I was pretty impressed to get that 800 ping it was a good 15 miles from me, , kept all day throughout alot of town.

Fair enough, I'm just trying to temper expectations since it seems like Sprint's strategy is to fan the fire until it's out of control and then throw gas on it. Things seem to be picking up steam, but saying the Columbus market will be largely complete in a month seems overly optimistic when so many sites haven't even had work started yet. Unless they're moving more crews in to pick up the pace, I don't see it.

  9. In Chillicothe today I picked up 1x 800 and got a text from sprint saying lte upgrades should be complete in a month!

Everyone is getting that text. I would take the part about upgrades being complete in a month with a large bucket of salt. If they said 2-3 months everything would be largely complete, I'd probably hesitantly agree.

  10. Sprint 3G hasn't work for me at all in over a week calls drop ALOT for me too. I'm thinking about dropping Sprint and go to T-Mobile, I'm always in Columbus because I know T-Mobile sucks if your out of Columbus.

If you ever go on trips, you'll be on edge coverage with Tmobile unless you're in a metro area. If you never travel and you live in a metro area, yeah, TMobile is great.

  11. This may have been covered already and I just missed it, but does anyone know what the story is with the LTE that's showing up in Reynoldsburg, specifically in the Broad and Lancaster area?  (Oh and the Taylor Rd/Firstgate area too)  It's showing up on Sensorly, but I can't connect to it.  (on an EVO 4G LTE)  I kinda remember someone mentioning a while back that Reynoldsburg was getting 2500 Mhz first (or is it 2600 Mhz?  Whatever)  Is that the case?  Or is this just stuff that's in test mode?  I've been waiting since June 2012 for LTE in my area, and now it's showing up, but I can't use it.  I am about to explode with happiness and frustration!

That's band 41 LTE and only accessible on a couple devices, yours isn't one of them. Sensorly doesn't differentiate between band 41 and the legacy LTE that your phone accesses that is the main crux of the current phase of Network Vision.

Just some speed tests at the Utica Elementary School. I was facing the tower and phone up in the air.

Interesting to note: when heading towards Newark on 13, once you make the first bend, before getting to the ice cream plant, the LTE connection drops. I'm sure the topography of the area has something to do with it.

    Is that 1900 LTE?

  13. Besides the Unlimited Data and reasonable pricing...why are you still a Sprint Customer? Right now if Sprint had to supply mobile communication for POTUS thru out Columbus could they handle that in your opinion? Everything from data to voice

Besides those two? The knowledge that if I wait, my patience will pay off. As it is, I'm with wifi most of the time, but depending on where I am, my phone may be pretty useless for anything bandwidth intensive. It'll be weird when it works well everywhere in the city eventually. Actually it won't be weird, we'll just wonder how we ever put up with this.

  14. Don't need Engineering screenshots. HTC devices tell SCP everything we need to know. Check the GCI and compare to the spreadsheet.

Today's post has been brought to you by Sprint, the letters GN and the number 2.

Not seeing that GCI on the spreadsheet. Unless it's incorrect.
