The Easton mall area must have had some work done cause my data is just zipping by it wasn't this good before. This speed test proves it. I can't wait until I get a CA device! 7373926b188de924297efef4f5dd7f0a.jpg

I think you're connecting to band 41 at that range, since it's located at the Hilton. I work at Chase at Easton and we do not get band 41 in my location due to several big buildings being in the way, so the speeds are not nearly that great.

Actually, you may be on to something. Just ran a Speedtest and I got 7 down, normally my speeds have been in 1.5-2.5 down. I'm at -119 dbon band 25 here, 41 can't reach me here.

  2. That is 00F07Exx converting your cell ID to hex. That is a Clear band 41 site for two reasons, one I looked the site up and the other is 00F---xx sites in our market are Clear band 41 sites. Not the power tower unfortunately.

Regarding the power tower, still no LTE? Can someone who lives near there grab some new pics? Something where we can count the RRH's?

I could grab pictures tonight but it'll likely be dark when I get back. Dark when I leave, and dark when I get back. I hate winter.

  3. Haha Hilton Head is literally where everyone from Ohio vacations. It's like ohio away from ohio.

I've also found Myrtle Beach to be that way. Which also has a decent amount of LTE, they're still in progress. Not as far as we are, I don't think.

  4. Powerline Sites that weren't converted are going to be redone to full builds.

Good to know. Have they started on any of these yet? And really, the 3G is usable now so that's nice, but it's hard going from LTE at work back to 3G.

  5. Giving them until 2017 doesn't bode well for timely completion, in my eyes. Does Sprint have much recourse until after 2017 if nTelos hasn't done anything? Sprint has done much more work in a shorter period of time, I don't see why two states couldn't be done in a more aggressive timeframe, other than that I know nTelos doesn't have much money and will probably have contractors take their sweet time due to how little they can afford to pay.

  6. I've been totally dropping data (no 3G, 4G, nothing) in Short North, Hilltop, and Worthington for a few weeks now.  Considering the level of completion in some of those markets, my thoughts on the network upgrades range from slightly negative to horrendous.  Perhaps it will get better.  But as of now, I'm just waiting out my contract.

So to say there's coverage holes is an understatement.  I'll note that 5+ years ago I never had issues in Short North, and in fact could impress others with how far inside various bars in the neighborhood I'd have coverage.  But today I got the triangle exclamation point standing outside of my gym on High and 2nd.  That's...not good.

Don't believe that network upgrades are finished in those areas yet. In areas where it hasn't been completed, your experience will be rocky until it is.

  7. Got the email from Sprint saying that the New Network is in my area. Columbus isn't in the scroll down menu tho

Right, hasn't been officially launched yet. Numbers/percentages on how many sites are launched are on the member side.

  8. Glad that you asked, I forgot to add that after I made the post. After airplane mode cycle, it picked up LTE and was happily running on it, until I lost the signal further up Waggoner Rd.

What made it interesting, is that the phone did not pick LTE, on its own, even after being idle on 3G with the tower less than a mile away from where I was.

You're most likely dealing with the LTE refresh times of your phone being slow. I'm not sure if you're able to change that or not, been out of that kind of game for a while now.

  9. My phone is in LTE/CDMA mode, I'm by the Graham Rd elementary school, on 3G. I have no processes running that require data and I purposefully force closed all processes. I'm still on 3G, even with the data in idle.

It seems that the phone picks when to connect to what tower. The tower by the 5 way intersection is less than a mile away and still no joy. However, when I go home, which is further away from my present location, I'm able to connect to that tower.

P.S. it was in idle mode for about 10 min and still no switching to LTE.

So what happens when you turn airplane mode on for a few seconds and then back off?

  10. Yea I'm connected to the tower that's down the street from me. I guess I can shoot Sprint a call about low bars of service.

There was a site over on the east side that had really horrible range for a while. I think it was on Brice by World Harvest. Not sure what happened with that one.

  11. The crazy thing is the tower that has LTE is like down the street from me. So I guess when I am on 3g it is connecting to that tower down the street from me and when on lte my phone is connecting to some tower that is further away from me?

Have you tried looking at your field test results on your iphone when connected to LTE and then comparing those with the spreadsheet available to sponsors? You'll find out exactly which tower you're connected to.

  12. I get lte at my house and it stays connected but my problem is I only get one bar of service and when I go outside I may get 2 bars. When I am on 3g I get almost full bars in my house and full bars outside. My question is will I gain more bars of service with lte eventually or is the one bar of service pretty much it?

Sounds like the tower you're connecting to on 3G hasn't gotten LTE upgraded yet. If that's the case, yes, you should get better service when your closest tower gets LTE.

  13. As I sent my last post I went from 3G to 1x to LTE I'm on broad near Lancaster New Albany

I am going to guess it was a weak signal from one of the Main St locations. That's pretty typical in that area. At home, my phone likes to go between the weak LTE signal and the 3G signal on Lancaster/Broad.

  14. Saw them too. I thought it was a couple forum guys sniffing around.

Lol that would take some balls to pull off right there. I've always been intimidated about stopping there because of how close it is to the street, and it's a pretty busy one. Walking up and snooping on the cabs just seems like it'd attract attention, then again I haven't snooped like most on here have.

  15. So who's POV's are at Broad/Reyn_NA? You best be getting pics.

I was planning on getting pictures yesterday after work but there were two different trucks there. These were different from the white General Dynamics ones. One was a hunter green SUV, and the other was maybe another color truck or SUV. Can't remember.

  16. Yes that much is obvious.. My question was focused on whether fiber is at that site. I believe so but i dont know for certain. Some 'NV 3g' sites are still awaiting fiber - thus they are still "slow" compared to what sites with fiber are..

I'm pretty sure that ATT ran fiber to that site last summer. I posted pictures of orange paint and flags on the sidewalk and running to that site that was marked up for ATT. They were there for a couple days installing it back then, so I'm assuming that the fiber was there and waiting this whole time.

  17. At this current time we have not seen a 1900 RRH only site get LTE. Can that change? Absolutely.

dkyeager spoke to some site workers at a powerline site. He found out that those sites require electricians to come in to install NV antennas. From that information it is our understanding that these sites will be 3G only until electricians can come out to climb the tower to install the 1900/800 capable antennas. It will be 3G only to not hold up the market because at this point, we must launch. The hemorrhaging must stop.

I could see that. I still haven't seen any tower monkeys on it. I'm guessing unless they're waiting until the end that they'll be coming back later for LTE. They've had 3-4 full days of work on the ground so far.

  18. They looked like new. The tech was finishing some wiring. I wonder when the panels are coming.

I'll look tonight. If the RRU's are already mounted at ground level, then this would be a GMO site, which I'm hoping against. I'm wondering if you were seeing them routing the cables from the boxes that AT&T ran for the fiber there.

  19. Hello all,

Drove by the Broad/Lancaster tower. Saw new cabinets mounted and the technician was finishing some wiring. Saw RRUs installed as well, appeared new. Cell tower panels are still the same, haven't been replaced yet.

Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk

You sure about the RRU's? Nothing done that I saw this morning. I left at 7:30 and nobody was out there yet.

  20. Hello all,

Drove by the Board/Lancaster Ave tower, cabinets don't appear to be hooked up.  But then again it was dark and rainy, so I didn't get much of a view.  Maybe over the weekend, I'll walk by there and take a few pics, without getting much attention.

    They're working on them today.

  21. Broad and reynoldsburg new Albany road has issues with receiving calls on all phones on my account.. Lte showed up for a second but disappeared

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I think you're probably having issues because your phone is trying to connect to some LTE on Main St, but it's a weak signal so until it latches onto the closer tower on Lancaster, you could have issues. Basically, that area is a wasteland right now for dropped calls because it's in between NV launched areas. And that's my home area too.
