  1. Fluke, miracle, stroke of luck, whatever. As you noted, it's still a win and that's all that matters for today.

Also, it very much was earned. They had to keep the game close enough for one score to matter. They had to force Michigan into a fourth down situation. They had to make the coaching decision to send everybody after the punter instead of trying to set up some ridiculous return with a million laterals. They also had to return the fumble for a touchdown; if he gets tackled on the 1-yard line then there likely is no time left on the clock to kick a field goal.

As for living on borrowed time, that's quite possibly true, but that's a worry for another day.

  2. The 2G data in Europe was too slow. Even Google Maps struggled to come up. 3G data was much better. I'd suggest Open World for that reason. $30/GB is reasonable.

I'd tend to agree. I don't see much use in Global Roaming for me until they up the speed a bit. If I were taking the family to somewhere like Europe I'd keep my line and my wife's on Open World as $30/GB is reasonable, as you stated, and switch my kids' lines over to Global Roaming.

  3. Agreed. But this shouldn't last for the rest of the billing cycle. Someone using 23 GB in San Francisco has no localized effect on someone using 23 GB in Chicago. Having it apply for the remainder of the bill cycle means that even if someone travels to a new area without congestion, this de-prioritization tag follows them.

If someone travels to a new area that's not congested, how and why would the de-priortization tag affect them?

  4. Then lets see some numbers, Marcelo. Analysts don't seem to like it.

That's not analysts. That's an 'analyst' (though I think think that may be stretching things) and an 'analyst' that's pretty much bearish on anything that Sprint does nowadays. Perhaps there's something in the NYC air because Karl Bode also did something intellectually dishonest in a similar manner yesterday when citing a different Sprint opinion piece from Brian Nichols. It's also interesting that Nichols concedes that he has no numbers or data on the performance of Direct 2 You, but he knows that he doesn't like it. Analyzing something and coming to a conclusion with no data whatsoever seems haphazard at best.

  5. Besides that, there is a new article about Sprint's finances from "The Street" I wanted to share here :

    http://www.thestreet.com/story/13319857/1/sprint-needs-more-than-cash-from-softbank-to-survive.html

Replete with the seemingly requisite Muppet sound byte. I do find it amusing how that weasel is already backtracking.

Craig Moffett of MoffettNathanson LLC suggested in a recent note that Sprint's health could sway regulators. "If Sprint has any shot at all at a merger with T-Mobile, it would likely be because the then-administration would perceive Sprint to be an imminent bankruptcy risk, a company unable to make the requisite capital investments to support a competitive network even if restructured under Chapter 11," he wrote. The analyst previously projected that Sprint would run out of cash early next year, but now suggests the new financing vehicles should support operations through the middle of 2018.

I could be wrong, but I'm fairly positive that those financing vehicles had long since been announced when he made his initial prediction. Keep batting 1.000 though, Craig.

I've been cynical that 4x4 in a smartphone could be pulled off in the past, that said, if this company can pull it off that would be amazing.

    Fascinating.

    Softbank Trial and Field Test

In May 2015, Softbank and Sprint announced Asia and North America’s first successful trials respectively of LTE 4×4 MIMO in higher frequency bands. The results of the technical pilot operation have shown that 4×4 MIMO increased coverage by as much as 15 percent and increased overall system capacity, as much as 50 to 60 percent at cell edge. The results also showed improved throughput performance for 4×4 within building as much as 55 to 73 percent.

It would be even more interesting if the link pointed to the trial being conducted by Sofbank and Sprint instead of something about T-Mobile. Maybe down the line some time.

  7. Verizon plans to raise their unlimited data plan from $29.99 to $49.99 in November, I already pay $80/month before taxes, I'm not looking forward to be paying $100+ per month. If Verizon does raise their unlimited data plan to $49.99 then ill be switching to Sprint, first could i use my iPhone 6S Plus on Sprint? I bought it from Verizon, Will all of the bands work on Sprint? If so I can't wait to join Sprint!

If you do plan to switch to Sprint and get on an unlimited data plan, it might be a good idea to do it before the $10 increase on the 16th of this month.

  8. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2015-10-09/sprint-s-cost-structure-is-bloated-new-cfo-robbiati-says

Robbiati outlined some of the details of a cost-cutting planannounced last week in an interview late Wednesday. Capital expenditures at Sprint, the smallest of the top four U.S. wireless companies, are disproportionately large by industry standards, said the CFO, who didn’t specify how many jobs may be eliminated.

“Our cost structure is bloated,” Robbiati said by phone from Tokyo, where he was meeting with executives from Sprint’s controlling shareholder, SoftBank Group Corp.

  9. The Sprint brand is tarnished, perhaps beyond repair. A rename may be prudent at some point, but SoftBank? No, just no. Anything that even remotely sounds like it's affiliated to the banking industry is still a non-starter imo.

  10. Nice...yeah I actually ordered my Note 5 today online with 2 year contract and should be getting it in the mail on Wed. Welcome Note 5 buddy.  I am still looking for a case that can still perform wireless charging without effects.

Btw screw Google....just like the Nexus 6, I hope sales don't do well with the Nexus 5X and 6P just like they didnt do well last year with the Nexus 6 just to show how stupid and idiotic Google's decisions (Nexus 6: Going with a 6 inch screen jump from 5 inch and Nexus 5X/6P:  selling it only via Google store) have been these last 2 years with the Google Nexus devices.

Too bad because the Nexus 6P is a promising device and I applaud Huawei for stepping up to the game when given the chance.

Have you checked this thread out?

    http://forum.xda-developers.com/note5/accessories/best-galaxy-note-5-t3179975

There's a fair number of posts now, but if you read through wireless charging gets mentioned several times. Among others, I recall someone saying that the UAG and Otterbox Symmetry cases work with wireless charging.

  11.

This is the deal breaker reason in my situation in that I would have loved to pick up the Nexus 6P via carrier (whether that is subsidy, easy pay or lease options). Not to mention if it was sold by carriers, consumers can actually pay for the device in monthly payments instead of all at once even though they will have to pay the full price after 2 years. Most importantly selling via carriers allows consumers to demo the unit in-store and see if it fits their needs and lives up to the hype instead of praying that it works out for them.

Instead I am going to go with the Note 5. Sorry Google but theylost a customer because they eliminated consumers options to buy and test out their products. Even Apple doesn't pull this crap and offers the iPhone at Apple store, BB/Amazon and via carriers even though they probably could get away with it because of their huge fanbase.

Ditto. I waited for the Nexus announcement on September 29th just to verify this info. I was actually pretty much sold on getting the 6P. However, after they announced that they were eschewing the carrier retail outlets in favor of selling it on their on their own via Google play, i was at the Sprint store that same afternoon buying my Note 5.
