  1. Well, I don't know about that. Returns to scale are extremely high in wireless and that is especially true in large nations with large populations. If the returns to scale are large in a given industry a market with a few large players actually delivers goods and services cheaper than having many smaller players.

That is why we saw all the mergers in the 2000s and did we see prices go up? Nope! Not only did prices fall but the plans got much better (does anyone off regional plans or how much did international roaming costs in 2002, if you could even do it or do you remember mobile data circa 2005?).

Sprint is having problems paying its current debt and are only managing it by starving the network and deploying network upgrades on a shoe string budget. I am sure Sprint engineers are extremely smart people but I am also sure they are smarter than VZW or ATT engineers and Sprint having less to spend on their network means they will continue to fall behind.

I am warming to a sprint-T-Mobile tie up. They new company will have the scale to compete with the big two and the spectrums to compete with wired ISPs.

Are these prices going down in the 2000's due to regionals being gone or is there a higher correlation to something else?   I believe Verizon is doing this to knock someone off so they can keep their prices high.

  2. And I like to ask you what the hell do you know about frequency and spectrum engineering, and if your so smart about things instead of being some armchair CEO, why aren't working that field.

I don't see his comment as an attack against Saw's intelligence, why lash out against his?  Things not happening is certainly an understandable frustration.

  3. That's cold.

I hope everyone here got their 6 months free of Tidal HiFi (no Credit Card required) by redeeming the code word "Sprint" on tidal.com

Here's the head scratcher; you don't have to be a Sprint subscriber to get the 6 months free.

Common Sprint! Get it together and leverage your assets to make ALL your customers (and just your customers) happy!

    Got?  Is it gone?

  4. While aesthetics may be a subjective matter of taste, it's hard to argue with wasteful construction to duplicate a utility pole when a perfectly usable existing utility structure is less than 5 yards away.

It grinds my gears to drive through north Florida and see 4-5 monopole structures lined up in a span of 100 yards because no one can build a tall enough structure to support all 4 carriers. It's wasteful.

@greenbastard's argument is actually for small cells, when they are placed on existing structures with minimal disruption to the surrounding areas.

What he doesn't want is a pole placed in the easement, especially in his easement, that sticks out like a sore thumb because it stands 2-3x as tall as all adjacent structures in the area. It's obnoxious, and again, wasteful. I don't think many would argue the fact that there are an innumerable amount of existing utility poles that could handle the job.

  5. I called Sprint sales about this "#Sprintsaysthanks" event.  They knew NOTHING about it.  I picked up a flyer from 2 different stores that say you had to add a line to get the second iPhone 6S for free but didn't say anything about adding another line for the free LG G5.  I had a sales person sign it.  All I wanted to know is if this is the same promotion that they are having on the G5 that expires on June 9th. 2 hours between the phone call and stopping in at the stores.   Called sales again and said if I go to the store tomorrow and it is not honored I just have to call customer care.    I'm bringing water and snacks.  This shouldn't be that difficult.

  6.

Yes, network densification is happening. Nobody is denying that.

What I am arguing is that Sprint has aggressively gone after customers with ridiculous promotions and have very little to show for it. With the growing debt they have added recently to their already massive debt, can Sprint really afford to add more operating expenses without adding customers? Sprint doesn't seem to think so because they've lowered CAPEX. At least on paper, Sprint is showing that they are confident in the future. Whether that's all being done to make an argument for a merger is another discussion.

I forget what they referenced but some have said it isn't really happening now anyways like they said it would.

  7. Sprint isn't going to announce the deployment of every small cell or even a new macro site. In fact, I like the less is more approach, whereas in the past it seemed like a major press release was issued for things.

Let the network speak for itself, and continue to work daily. As for my market, I see sites coming up daily with CA, so I know for a fact that work is going on.

I didn't think they would and I'm not looking for it, who asked for it?   They are clearly working on CA because I have it all around where I live.  That however isn't the small cells and macro cells that there should probably more sightings of.
