  1. If that sim comes to BM and BI, I wonder if there will be device restrictions or some such.

Where I am at, lacking n70 on your device is pretty big deal.  Dish does not own any n66 here and only 5x5 of n71.

I am also assuming that Dish needs to do a second tower climb to add their 3.45GHz.  I have not seen any Dish sites get a second antenna added here yet.

I'd still likely give it a go on my Pixel 7.

  2. I'm 30 minutes north of Pittsburgh. Signal Check app just showed that I connected to AT&T n77. ARFCN 652000 3780MHz. Weird cause Spectrum Sequence shows that as VZW. It shows ATT only owns 3840-3900.

It's also weird cause the app will show I'm connected to 5G-NR but the status icon will still say LTE.

  3. That's a pretty good use. Will be easy enough to plug those in on their lines. Guess the main thing is going to be getting power to them. I wonder what the power requirements are.

I'm honestly surprised they haven't included radios for their spectrum or CBRS in their modems yet.

  4. I was in Gatlinburg and they had 5MHz on n66.

I use the SignalCheck Pro app on my Pixel 7. It only shows 1 band you are connected to which I assume to be the primary band.
app was showing I was connected to n5. If that happens is that 5G SA in action?

Every other time my phone shows 5G, I open the app and it shows LTE. Similar to the 5G on my SOs S22 in the service menu.

They demand an e-mail address that you don't use with an existing Boost Mobile account.

They look at Experian credit, which you must unlock if you locked it because of T-Mobile negligence or any one of several other large Corp security breaches.

With gmail, they ignore the period so you can possibly make a new account on Infinite and just toss a period or remove a period in your username.

The other one, if the input field accepts a + (some sites don't allow it), just append a + to the end of your email username and add something to it like johndoe+boost@gmail.com. Gmail ignores the + and everything after it.

  6. That is interesting.  Guess Boost Infinite would be its own thing still?

I think it makes sense to try and flip it.  They would get a cash infusion and not like any of those customers are on Dish's network. If they try to migrate them it'll be costly and they'll likely still lose millions.

I wonder if they would keep the my.boostmobile customers?  Don't really understand why those two things are still separate.

  7. $1.6B in a year? Is that a typo? Seems excessive for shutting down just portions of a cell site. I would not have assumed an electric bill that high for just anticipated potential savings.

With good AI, this could scale very nicely and could even operate all day long. Especially considering the amount of low-band that they have.

  8. Wonder what other spectrum the auto industry can use, how much of the 5.9GHz was being used, and if 30MHz will be enough 20 or 30 years from now.

The auto industry has had it for 20 years sure, but technology can move really slow.  It isn't good.  It isn't ready for real world applications. The hardware is too slow to be able to process enough reliable data. It is too expensive.  Etc.

I would argue that we are just getting to the point where features that I would assume could use 5.9GHz are just now hitting mass market as the code is better, hardware is not only significantly faster but also cheaper.

The baseline trim models still lack a lot of safety features but the next trim up usually comes with a bunch of goodies I'd assume could make use of 5.9GHz. Just imagine where we were in 2005, 2010, 2015.

Mostly just assumptions without enough knowledge of the spectrum use, so a hint of skepticism.

With the what, 1.2GHz that opened up in the 6GHz range, getting 45MHz out of 5.9GHz is very meh.

  9. Same here.  I'll actually be changing up plans some at the end of the year, getting a Genesis hotspot and still save ~$30/yr. lol

With Genesis and my.BoostMobile pricing, I would expect similar pricing and BYOP. I'd imagine that this will be open to BYOP, which will allow Dish to performance test their network further for supported devices, get people on their network, and support a wide range of devices that can ride on either AT&T or TMobile's network.  Beings that AT&T has a whitelist and all.  Though I wouldn't be surprised if at minimum you'll need a 5G supported device.

Signals Research Group just completed their 25th 5G NR benchmark study and released a preview of their findings in their newsletter. They tested Dish's and T-Mobile's 5G networks in Las Vegas. Here are the key takeaways:

Man I wish I could get on their beta right now.  Looks like I'll have to wait until Dec or so.

The report is not surprising really.  Largely only have employees roaming around running tests and what not.  I am sure lots of testing is needed to iron out bugs, fix things.  Though a lot of it might be denser network.  Only so much you can do and money is spread out very thin when you have such a large target to hit.

  11. When I enable 3G only on my phone I get no signal.  When I am on 5G, the primary carrier is B2 15x15 LTE and n5 5x5.  With 3G gone, how long should it be expected to take for AT&T to make it a 10x10 channel?

Also, do we know if AT&T is doing anything with the 2.5x2.5?
