  1. Not to mention all those cars will be talking to each other through the internet all on wireless networks which will require even more capacity.

true, but i think the car information sharing will pale in comparison to streaming HD video but it will be an additional device and additional data usage all the same.

  2. I own the plus and love the screen size, but i have large hands.  My fiance has the 6 (not the plus) and its perfect for her smaller hands, both of us laugh when ever we see a 5s... or even a 4s and ask how we could ever even tolerate that little screen. but to each their own, what is perfect for me could seem crazy to you.  If apple thinks they can sell millions of 4 inch phones then they will make one.

  3. I think you forget the amount of spectrum that sprint has vs Tmo, ATT and Verizon.

Sprint can in most cases in markets deploy 5 or 6 carriers of 20mhzTDD.  I believe the plan is only aggregate three 20+20+20 TDD together. However, more LTE carriers (i.e. 5 or 6) is something no carrier can complete especially with this unlimited data buckets coming back.

I dont' think the future is about speed (it is now) but capacity which sprint has set a platform to perform on.

speed will still be important in the future and additional capacity will help provide and maintain that speed.  as data demands grow other carries will need to drastically increase site density due to spectrum constraints, most likely with small cells.  of course wireless data usage growth will begin to slow and stagnate in the coming years on a percentage basis based on the law of large numbers, a reasonable person can only use so much data on a phone.  The next big ramp up in data usage will be when driver less cars begin to roll out in the millions.  people will go from driving, focusing on driving to riding and watching tv/netflixs/youtube so on... on their phones.

  4. Honest question, and I'd love to ask this to other investors that are rating the stock poorly...

Sprint's spectrum position right now is worth more than the company, itself.  Why is the stock so heavily undervalued?  Sprint can literally sell off their B41 assets to pay off close to the company's entire debt (if not all of it.)

honest answer, stocks don't always trade in line with the value of it's assets less debt.  The market isn't always right, that is where you, or I can step in buy shares and make some money.  I use the term value loosely because its impossible to say exactly how much money sprint's spectrum is worth on its own.  look at a company like yahoo, it's market cap is almost less than the value of it's shares of Alibaba.  Is yahoo by it's self worthless?  Because right now yahoo is trading like its core business is worth less than $0.  yahoo market cap 28.82, current approximate Alibaba stake $30 billion.

  5. Someone I know had a cell tower put on their property and they are paid a $5,000 monthly lease fee. Long-term lease, too, though I can't remember the exact term. Still want that service credit? ;)

It was more a joke, tower and billboard lease payments can be big money. as they say location location location.

some good info on the topic.

  6. I spoke via tweeter with a rep from Sprint CEO team about letting Sprint install on my property since I'm in ideal location (I live on a hill, fiber under my driveway and the AT&T dslam is literally next door to my house...) and they sent me to a site called Sprint NPS (national property services). I haven't heard back from them yet but if I do get into something like that, I'll keep everyone posted here.

well shoot, i have a back yard, i want a macro site, i would even settle for a small cell... I will even waive my rental fee for a year or two in exchange for free service for me and my family for life!

  7. yeah

Sorry for the delayed response, but to answer your question: no. I've moved my wife and I to the AT&T unlimited data plan.

As a truck driver, I need reliable data at all times, and this intermittent data problem was screwing me with gps, and emails from my company, and enough was enough.

I called sprint, and the best they could do was submit some kind of network trouble ticket that had a resolution time of 10-14 business days. That was unacceptable to me. I've been on AT&T for a week, haven't had a data drop yet, and haven't even seen "4G" displayed once--a truly rock solid network in terms of signal.

It's both sad and disappointing to have waited out sprint for years, let them build this monster network here, and then break it again. The phone calls and texts from family about this problem were getting annoying, and being the family "iPhone/Sprint-know-it-all," naturally, they bitched at me instead of Sprint.

Not having to worry about pocket 3G, and when my provider will drop a carrier bundle that will break phones is wonderful--something I haven't felt in years.

yeah that att "unlimited" is a very attractive offer for u-verse and direct tv customers especialy if you have 3 or more lines... i think this is the first step in zero ratting u-verse and direct tv app for all wireless customers.

  8. Why would he want to own 100% of it? He wishes he never bought it at this point and has already shopped it around. Also SoftBank itself hadn't been doing very well. Its stock is down as a result. Adding the rest of Sprint won't help.

I think he will increase rather than decrease his investment, I think he underestimated the challenge.  He obviously underestimated the regulatory environment of the united states, that's why the planned t mobile acquisition stalled out so quickly.  I believe with the proper investment and management sprint can become the #1 or #2 network in the country, it wont be an easy goal to hit as the competition definitely is not sitting still, but they certainly have the spectrum resources.  They just need to execute, and that is something that i feel sprint has not done, in many many many years at least not at the same level as the competition.  But the fight is not over, its only just begun.

  9. Sprint stock at $2 and 50 and steady declining.... Softbank stock took a 18% hit any opinions what will sprint have to do to stay above water

as crazy as it sounds i think the key to sprint, or any stock right now is oil rebounding to the $35-$40 range (currently $26.79).  why?  the oil producers are loaded with debt (much like sprint/many other companies)  this debt was cheap and easy to obtain before the federal reserve raised rates.  Now the debt market is in danger, extreme danger, because companies with large debts are finding it very difficult to refinance, oil companies are facing the most challenges due to the extreme drop in the price of oil, but all debt heavy companies are being punished.  The fall in debt ridden companies is causing the sell off in the broader market so even cash rich companies are being taken down.  In my opinion oil needs to rebound so the debt heavy oil companies don't run the risk of default, and the fed making a statement that its done tightening, at least for this year would be very helpful.          Drill baby Drill they said, now look what we have, its nice at the pump but if your 401K loses %40 this year it doesn't really make a difference does it?

  10. This isn't going to look good for Sprint, either.

    https://www.metropcs.com/break-up-with-sprint.html

MetroPCS offering to cut Sprint rates by up to 50%.

T-Mobile is relentless, also i wish when sprint did "all in" it would have included taxes and fees, for many people that "unexpected" extra is a turn off.  it sounded like the perfect tax line, all in should have included everything.... not almost everything....

  11. s

What Sprint needs is someone like Dish attempting to buy them out, then failing due to FCC disapproval, then Dish dispersing $3B cash infusion into Sprint and Sprint inheriting their AWS spectrum.  Then they can have a good chance at coming back like T-Mobile did. :D

so all sprint needs is some free money, and spectrum and they will be golden?  sign me up for the free money!   :rasp:

  12. They can say a lot during the quiet period. Legere pooped on the EFF. They just can't make forward-looking statements or discuss financial data. ANYTHING to let people know they're still alive would be welcome. Instead the CEO is tweeting sports pictures. "Nero fiddled while Rome burned"

true, he could say more than nothing, if he is going to maintain a twitter account it should be used to talk about sprint. and not how proud he is of the local sports teams. but that's just my opinion and honestly even if he posted something substantial and positive very few people in the investing community will make multi million dollar investments based on a tweet... No one who reads this board, or follow his twitter account has enough personal wealth to invest in any one stock, to significantly affect share price of a stock like sprint.

  13. Just keeps dropping...will likely be at or below $2 by the end of the week, below $1 by the end of the month. De-listed by the Summer Solstice.

It seems they would say something to stem the losses now. Leak some good news to some press puppets (they have those right? T-Mobile certainly does), have the CEO tweet something, issue a press release about NGN, something. I think what scares investors is there is no good news, and the silence from Overland Park only seems to prove that.

They are in whats known as a "quiet period" http://whatis.techtarget.com/definition/quiet-period The last quarter ended December 31st, so the quiet period started on that date, and will end when they make an official earnings announcement (most likely early February).  Untill that time has passed any leaks, tweets or any relevant data to the companies fortunes (or mis fortunes) would be in violation of Securities Act of 1933 https://www.sec.gov/answers/quiet.htm.  They can't just do what every they want... they have some rules to play by, if you listen to John's tweets and periscope videos he is careful not to disclose and real information during his "quiet period".

  14. I don't think the stock can take much more damage before it's delisted.  Softbank is a lot of incentives (tax-wise) to keep at least 15% of the stock public.

they are only really endanger of being de listed if the stock fall below $1 for an extended period, at that time they would most likely preform a reverse stock split, say 1 for 5, meaning you trade in 5 $1 shares for 1 $5 share and bam the stock is no longer endangered of being de listed.  The problem sprint is facing is a huge debt load in a market where credit is drying up (money is harder/ more expensive to borrow).  The turn around story is also in jeopardy, this could get much worse before it gets better.

  15. Usually by the speed if you use Ookla or other network testing apps.  The fastest download speed I received without CA was in the low 20's on b41.  With CA, I have had a few tests in my area of 75. But specifically with a 6s field test, it is hard to tell.

That's not sure a %100 though, i regularly can get 50-60 meg on my 6Plus (no CA).  I would say if your phone is working well then it doesn't honestly matter, not much of a difference between 30 meg and 100 meg for most uses on a phone, even downloads since IOS is caped at 100 meg over cellular...  I get that it is fun to check (i do all the time) but i don't expect apple to pay much attention to the field test app, they have many many other things to do all day.   :frantic:

  16. Over the past 6 months, I have noticed that Sprint has been tweaking their network and how it balances the load on its bands. My phone used to idle on band 25, but at the start of data sessions, my phone would go to band 26. Then 4 months ago, I started to hang out on band 25 a lot more and would only go to band 26 if my data session required a heavy amount of data (video) or if I bugged the network too much for data.

Now as of this month, I've noticed that my phone has rarely gone to band 26. The only time I see it now is after phone calls, but even then it's for a short time (5-10 seconds). If I start a constant stream on band 26, the network will not hesitate to move me up to band 25 during the stream. I've seen the phone switch bands before during active data sessions, but only downwards (2600>1900>800). Now that's no longer the case. My phone will move from band 26 to band 25 while a data session is in session. Load balancing has finally been implemented in (some parts of) SE Texas and it just works. It has been long overdue!

That is awesome! my area (southern WI) has slowly been evolving like this, it seems tower by tower.  nothing worse than being stuck on slow band 26 when you know your in range of band 25 (can see the tower a block away).

  17. http://newsroom.sprint.com/blogs/sprint-perspectives/sprint-improves-its-network-as-competition-heats-up-in-kansas-city.htm

Great job but they still lost the market on a whole somehow. I hope Legere does not go to twitter with the whole we beat you in your own city bs.

Im sure he will, he loves to bash sprint are every opportunity.  That said that is an impressive download increase although i would rather the speed test be removed, feel free to talk about max peak speeds but the screen shot seems unnecessary in an official newsroom release. just my opinion.

  18. I think it's kinda funny that sprint under-exaggerates their coverage considering pretty much every one else completely over exaggerates theirs. It makes they map look really bad when compared to the others.

in my area the map way over exaggerates (southern WI) i sometimes have 3g outdoors while deep in yellow , miles away from the nearest tower.  Im not complaining i know how the network works and where i can expect lte, 3g, and where i can expect 1x... or less.  they are aware of the lack of coverage especially on the south side of my town.  I actually recommended an intersection in town that should have a tower, he laughed and said that's an area they are thinking of adding a tower (lots of sprint zone problem reports).... Its not a secret to the network team as to where the problem areas are, the coverage map is a different team, a marketing team,  At the end of the day that is all the coverage maps is... marketing.
