  1. Yes but at the same time I have always heard the saying "Don't bite off more than you can chew".  Even if lets say that they can get the numbers to work with Canada, Sprint already more than their hands full with Network Vision with still needing to deploy LTE nationwide and now on top of that adding CDMA 800, LTE 800 and LTE 2600 nationwide and not to mention the small cell deployment that is going to occur as well.  Whether we like it or not, Network Vision is way behind schedule and I know its not all Sprint's fault since vendor execution and bureaucratic BS are other key factors for the project delay but Sprint needs to focus on trying to find ways to make up ground.  That mid 2014 completion time frame for Network Vision that Sprint put out in their CC, ain't going to happen since the scope of the project just got a whole lot larger once Softbank took over.

I just don't think the timing is there right now for Sprint to begin exploring international ventures.  Sprint needs to focus on revitalizing their brand and make customers believe in Sprint again. Right now Sprint still has a large stigma of being the slowest carrier of all the major carriers and Sprint needs to find new ways to capture those former Sprint customers and new customers.

Ehh. Different markets different vendors. Additionally, the administrative portion may not even be assigned to Sprint. We need to stop with the US centric view and take a much more global view in light of Softbanks ownership.

  2. That is exactly it. Sprint has too much to focus on domestically to get to where they need to be. I know they have a lot of backing now with Softbank, but that isn't enough in the grand scheme of things if you want a true top to bottom top tier future proof network from coast to coast in this country. If Sprint was already NV 3.0 complete with nationwide triband LTE-A and anyone from downtown Miami to the middle of a Nebraskan cornfield could pull a consistent 3-6 bar signal and 50 mbps down data, I'd say it would be a good time to expand outside the borders.

I disagree. There will always be a new network tech on the horizon. Network upkeep and modernization is a never ending process, something that Sprint learned in very painful terms.

If the numbers work out then expansion into Mexico and Canada could be on the table. It would be awesome if it was part of a SoftBank Global data strategy.

  3. I still believe that the Xbox One has the more robust offering of the two, in terms of multimedia. TV integration also seems pretty cool. And I think that Microsoft is also trying to give people with Xbox 360's a taste of Xbox One goodness with their cable apps for xFinity, FiOS, and TWC.

Although you pay $60 a year, those $60 get you access to a lot of multimedia for a family. Additionally price doesn't prove to be a problem if the past serves as an example for what is to come. The Xbox had a $60 charge for gold and people don't seem to mind as long as they are getting access to tons of features that are not as accessible through the competitors console.

It's all a matter of perspective.

The only perspective is if you are willing to pay. Pony up the $60 and you have a superior amount of content with the Xbox. Personally x-box is not offering anything that is must have that I cant get on the PS4 for free.

  4. I am mainly giving you guys a hard time.  But I am half joking, half serious.

Like wireless airlinks, video game systems do tend to run in generations.  In the modern video game era, NES and Sega Master System were the first gen.  Much later, Nintendo 64 and Sony PlayStation were of the same gen.  Likewise holds true for Nintendo GameCube, Sony PlayStation 2, and Microsoft Xbox.

So, exclusion of Nintendo Wii U strikes me as odd.  Maybe the generation lines have been blurred a bit now.  However, Wii U clearly belongs more with consoles released in 2013 than those released in 2006.

I don't appreciate your nintendo-centric /sega discriminatory post sir. SEGA GENESIS FOREVER!

  5. Because Microsoft offers a slew of apps, Mich like the PS3, but then they offer cable apps to watch television and they have different music apps like Vevo. They have HBO GO and whole bunch of other stuff that I was unable to download on my PS3 that I really wish was there. Not to mention navigating my PS3 was a pain compared to my Xbox.

Then there is Kinect, which to mny was a huge fail, but to Mr was a great add-on. I use it so much if I want to search for movies and I have quite a few games that I play with it when I have family over. It is a crowd pleaser, and to me it is something that the PlayStation lacks as well.

I disagree. If you don't want to pay for a subscription then Sony offers a lot more. On the flip side if you are ok with paying for a subscription then the Xbox comes out on top, particularly if you are a big NFL fan. I don't think content will be an issue. The issue will be if there is a charge and what people are willing to pay. It remains to be seen if the PS move system will have the same functionality as the MS Kinect. In either case it seems as if both have seen big upgrades.

  6. I think that the Xbox is even more of a multimedia powerhouse than the Playstation.

I think that when it comes down to it all, both consoles will do great. Xbox preorders are picking up. I think that for every 2 Xbox`s there are 3 PS4s. It`ll come down to what you want your console for. Microsoft tried to find a middle ground between family consoles (Wii/WiiU) and core gamer consoles (Playstation). I think that the PS4 offers a great experience for those that only game.

How so? They look pretty even to me.

  7. Good point, but the One already has Sense 5, the E4GLTE won't even get all the features of Sense 5.

At this point, use evo lte users are just waiting until our upgrades kick in in 4-5 months.  No one is going to buy a One at this point, unless their phone is broken/not functioning.

More like nine months but who's counting

  8. Sprint DID refer to it as a 4G data charge, pissing off legions of customers who were paying a 4G data charge even though they had no 4G coverage. I think it caused huge headaches for Sprint's CS having to explain why the 4G data charge was there when 4G coverage wasn't. If I remember to look tomorrow I'll try to find one of my old bills that used that terminology. They were eventually forced to change the name of the fee to a premium data surcharge and then a smartphone surcharge when they couldn't deliver 4G and needed to stop pissing off customers. That allowed them to say the fee was because smartphones use more data so they could save some face. I remember all this very clearly.

IIRC it was called a premium data charge. People only assumed it was a 4G charge.

  9. well if HTC goes Chinese then I am definitely going either Samsung or Nexus

While I am usually anti chinese, a buyout from Lenovo could be perfect. Remember, Lenovo produced laptops for IBM for years before buying out the unit. Lenovo could enable HTC to move beyond cell phones and tablets.

  10.  but I can tell you from experience working with many customers already unable to understand phone bills as it is (even when they aren't having a billing issue, on all carriers) adding another line-item every month just adds to the confusion. The fact is the average person can't understand a bill, from any carrier or company.

    THIS^^^^^

I have always thought that one of the reasons for Sprints improved customer service was the simplification of the plans. Less confusion for the customers and service reps.

  11. Anyone actually received and activated one of these on FreedomPop yet? First impressions? I'm thinking of getting one for LTE hunting since the EVO sucks for that.

They take an insanely long time to ship. 2-3 weeks. I guess they don't keep an active stock.

  12. Ok. So I got a dual band router g/n 2.4/5. Moved whatever was compatible to 5 ghz. I also took a look at the 2.4 spectrum and holy crap!. There are seven other 2.4 connections(all wireless-n, go figure) in my immediate area. I switched the channel from 11 down to 1 as that was the least congested range. So far it seems better.

  13. Lets think about this. You have to identify your most likely user. In my opinion that would be the person who does not have ready access to a outlet. That is is usually a person who works outside. Those folk usually have their phone in a two piece case that hangs from their belt. Place the solar cells one the outside portion of the case. The next issue is how to protect the cells.

P.S.- My going rate is 10% of the profit :)
