You're not alone... the snails pace of rollout in the DMV is disappointing. I'm curious if Alcatel-Lucent's financial struggles have anything to do with the speed of deployment.

After driving around Baltimore, I expected so much. Hopefully A-L will speed it up in the coming weeks.

  2. I was at the Rolling Road and Rt 40 intersection yesterday (the tower there is atrocious by the way 0.01Mbps) and my iPhone got a bar of LTE for a split second, then it disappeared. The tower I was connected to was NOT being worked on. I was in line of sight to the tower & not sure of any other towers in a 1-2 mile radius with work being done. Was this a fluke? It was one bar...

EDIT- looks like someone else has experienced this too. Fluke it is. :(

  3. Baltimore here, LTE popping out around the suburbs. Liberty Road and Rolling, Security Square Mall, Arundel Mills Mall, Columbia (not the mall, just in the vicinity). Not much on I-695, except around exits 16-17 (Security Blvd, coming from Social Security Building). Theres a tower off of I-70 thats been giving me around 2Mbps 3G, but no LTE. I can see it from my house. Maybe a BandAid improvement? Haven't been into the city yet so can't tell you about that.

  4. Yeah, I know. I wonder when Sprint will launch LTE in Washington, DC area. I talked to the manager at Sprint store and he said that they are all ready for a launch and planing to do it in the forth quoter of this year. I wonder how far it is from the truth. :)

    Would love a DC launch.

  5. I think that it is the Sprint's 3G network problem. I went to New York for this weekend, and, on our way we were passing Baltimore where LTE network had recently been launched. The download/upload speeds were amazingly fast. In New York, there is still 3G, but it seems to work much better then here. I didn't have any problems with sending messages, images and even short videos to my wife's iPhone and my friend's Android phone. Also I didn't have upload lock ups in Speedtest app.

Baltimore is getting pretty amazing right now- getting used to 1.8Mbps downloads (and 20Mbps on LTE) is very very easy! :P

Yes, but you were responding to a guy who was asking whether the tower he showed a picture of could have been upgraded. And you said you didn't think so because you didn't think work was under way in Florida. So what does being blocked have to do with a picture of a possible completed site? Maybe I am missing something. Did a post get deleted?

Nope, just my stupidity. I thought he meant was the site functional. Sorry for the unneeded thinking I may have causes you. :P

  7. I work in the Woodlawn area and my 3G has been abysmal, and got worse when the rollout began. At times, with my Evo LTE I have been able to pick up 4G right at the edge. I picked up 4G outside Security Mall.

This past weekend I did pickup 4G is Westminster twice on seperate ends of town. Once was while at Lowes, the other was around Walmart.

I just received my iPhone 5 (YAY!) and I'll be at Security Mall later today. The tower servicing that area was supposed to have been upgraded, but 3G has been in the .15Mbps range.
