  1. The maximum carrier aggregation sprint will set up is 20+20+20. On high capacity band 41 sites they will run a second chain of 60 mhz (20+20+20).

Wireless backhaul is not traditional backhaul. It's a recent technology called LTE UE Relay.

So your saying sprint will most likely sell/swap some of their band 41? Maybe or just use all 6 carriers just no 5 or 6 times CA.

  2. Currently the LTE rel 10 standard can support CA of up to 100 MHz on up to 5 LTE carriers.  I don't think Sprint has to worry about any OEM's ability to support 5xCA in the future because the standard supports it.  I am fully confident that it will be done due to optimization and improving antenna technology and will be supported no doubt when the time is appropriate.  2015 year is just the beginning where all the carriers are starting to add CA support for their appropriate LTE bands and I don't see the carriers holding back.  With Sprint having such little PCS/ESMR spectrum, I don't want Sprint to get rid of any of its 120 MHz spectrum especially if they are sitting out the 600 MHz spectrum auction.  To me the most ideal situation is to eventually deploy 5xCA on B41 and use 20 MHz for wireless backhaul especially in dense urban markets like NYC which are hard enough to run fiber through the top of buildings where the NV sites are at but can also feed backhaul to small cells on the ground.

I just don't see opportunities for Sprint in the near term to swap PCS spectrum blocks with other carriers to create wider channels until the other carriers are in the process of vacating that spectrum of CDMA/EVDO/HSPA+/UTMS and going full LTE mode.  Even though 2.5 GHz spectrum is supported by B41 and the equipment is out there, I just don't see the other 3 national carriers really that interested in 2.5 GHz spectrum.

Yeah. I see your point. However band 41 doesnt have the reach of other LTE bands. Verzion has said they would possible be intresting in band 41 if Sprint ever when that way.

  3. Question about Sprint's potential use of 2.5 GHz for interband wireless backhaul.  Does anyone know how much spectrum Sprint would want to commit for wireless backhaul?  I wonder since Sprint has 120 MHz on average of 2.5 GHz spectrum in many markets that perhaps they can devote 20 MHz to support wireless backhaul.  That way that still leaves Sprint 100 MHz to devote to LTE for 5xCA way down the line.

At this point no one knows what will happen with all that spectrum. Sprint might have a hardtime finding a smartphone Manufacturer that will support that much. So it could just be mobile hotspots if sprint would use all 120. Why I would like to see them do it sells 2 band 41 carriers which would still leave them with 80mhz. Sell it and, do a spectrum swap with another carrier in exchange for more 1900 PCS spectrum.

  4. I personally think B26 should not be aggregated with any other Band. In order for a user to use CA on B26 and any other Band, that means they could be using another Band altogether. And no one should be on B26 except for people who have no choice because they have no other LTE signal available. B26 is wasted to aggregate. It will never be useful to anyone else who can't use anything but B26.

B25 carrier aggregation could be useful with other B25 carriers. When Sprint can do this in the future, it will be useful.

However B25+B41 CA is also unnecessary and wasteful. Because if someone is in range of B41, there is no sense in them wasting B25 resources. They might as well be on B41 solely and possibly even let their device aggregate them with another B41 carrier. B41+B41 will always be better than B41+B25.

So are you saying band 25 would with CA if more useful when and, if sprint ever has a 4th LTE band in the future?

  5. No, the problem is brand image.  If you are on Boost Mobile, you are a gangbanger or a drug dealer.  Dawg, where you at?

I take offense to that. I use boost. I dont trust postpaid with my bill and, its costs to much. The device selection could be better. theres phones that other carriers offer on prepaid that sprint doesnt offer on any of there prepaids. cricket sells 64gb iphones 6s. vzw has nexus 6 and note 5,galaxy edge etc.

  6. True if it was a 10mhz or 15 mhz id say take it. 5mhz just isnt cutting it on band 25 or 26 anymore

Agreed. Dish's pcs could help increase higher FDD. Tho sprint has couple cities with 10X10. Band 41 is awesome and, will be sprint best source of Capacity. However yeah FDD-LTE cant stay 5x5 forever. Dont get me wrong all carriers have 5x5 areas.

  7. No one should buy the AT&T model.  Even AT&T customers.  Band 30 on AT&T is not really being deployed, yet.  It will be a limited roll out for the forseeable future.  Most AT&T customers will see no difference in performance using the other model.  And resale will likely be better on the non AT&T model.  Screw AT&T.

As for why there is a different model, I think I remember reading there is some filtering that needs to be done with B30 that may have some performance factors on the other bands.  And the other carriers should not be penalized for AT&T.  Had this been Sprint, they would not have made a one off device for them.   :td:

Ive been wondering about band 30. At&t has been saying the roll out would happen this summer 2015. lol att

  8. CCA is smaller carriers working with first Sprint now T-mobile. I dont know what its means for T-mobile as of right now. However for Sprint It means something other than 1X roaming. Do to sprint mostly roaming onto Verzion. Roaming onto carriers that are not verzion will allow of 3G and, LTE roaming.  some of the smaller carriers from the CCA dont even own any LTE so they will lease it from sprint. They could now lease (once details get worked on) from T-mobile. Tmobile hasnt yet said which small carriers they will be working with.

  9. Sprint will sometimes add unlocked phones now. But this one only supports one Sprint LTE band and no CDMA. So this one definitely isn't going to happen.

Yep I know that. I was just pointing about that band 41 would be the only thing that would work. Just didnt explain it as well as you did.
