LTE seems to work maybe 50% of the time, the other 50% is too slow to be useful. I'm going to assume this is normal for an unofficial market like Phoenix. It's very frustrating and it's been going on for several weeks, hopefully it gets resolved soon.

Building penetration for LTE on my S3 seem fairly decent. Another tower went live in downtown Chandler and signal strength is great.

The same thing is happening to another S3 on a different account. Mine is rooted, the other isn't. Both running 4.3 but I flashed 4.1 on mine with no resolution. It seems like certain S3s don't like certain Sprint towers.
-
I took it to the Sprint repair center and they said nothing is wrong with the phone, that they've been doing lots of tower upgrades and to give it a couple of days and it might start working again. It's not the tower because there are other phones on my account that connect just fine, that didn't matter to them though.
Doing more research I found this thread: https://community.sprint.com/baw/thread/90885
My problem started happening when the battery on the phone died. I didn't think it had anything to do with it but now it looks like it does. Of course, I've already tried everything mentioned there x20. There are several more repair centers in the area, there has to be a tech at one of them that knows what's going on...

I got into some trouble screwing with some settings deep in the hidden menus on stock. Eventually, I had zero connectivity on mobile. Took it to a Sprint store, and they fixed it in 5 mins. This was when the phone was about 15 months old.

I'll flash stock back on there and take it to them tomorrow. I wish they could see it disconnecting but oh well.

I flashed CM10 and went back to stock, didn't help. It keeps connecting to Sprint's network then disconnecting constantly. There's no more stable connection but only when I'm home or nearby. I don't think there's anything else I can do that software related so now my question is, will a Sprint repair center even look at the phone if it's over a year old? There's no repair center near me so they aren't going to be able to duplicate the problem so maybe there's no point and I should just wait it out to see if it resolves itself as sudden as it broke or if I should just replace it.

Have you tried ODINing completely back to stock?
I don't remember whether or not the GS3 had a separate LTE modem firmware from CDMA, but it likely does. I'd try flashing a couple modems back, in succession, up to the latest.
You haven't mentioned whether or not the device connects normally to EHRPD or LTE, only that being in LTE mode freaks it out.
I flashed MB1, MD4, then MK3 but that didn't help. Right now I have it in CDMA/LTE mode and it's connected to CDMA eHRPD, every once in a while I will lose signal and regain it, I assume this is when it tries to connect to LTE. I will try to do another hands free activation later today when the phone has no problems connecting to LTE.
I haven't tried ODIN to stock, I will do that this weekend if everything else fails.

I'm running a custom ROM and it had been working great until all of a sudden the phone started rebooting constantly but only when I was home. I've found that if I swtich the network mode to CDMA only, the phone is stable and works great. Switching to CDMA/LTE throws the phone into an endless reboot loop of causes the signal to be lost, depending on which kernel I have flashed. I have the MK3 modem flashed and I've flashed it several times, I've done a complete wipe of the phone and reflashed the ROM, nothing helps. Having the WiFi on or off makes no difference.
Could the problem be hardware related? Does it have something to do with the tower and if it does, will it go away at some point? I tried asking in the ROM's thread at XDA but no one seems to know exactly what's going on.
This only happens when I'm home or close to home and in CDMA/LTE mode.

Just to be clear, there is no $10 Premium Data fee with this plan?

Got 4G signal on Dunlap and I17 all the way to 43rd Ave and finally lost it at Peoria Ave. I was pulling down anywhere from 5MB to 25MB/s. I tried mapping it on Sensorly but the app getting force closing.
-
It switched between 3G and 4G without problems with the stock ROM but since flaching this new one I don't automatically get 4G, I have to toggle Airplane mode. I reflashed the modem but that didn't help. My build and basebands are MD4 and I did try the MB1 baseband with no luck.
Any ideas what could be the problem?

Now take another break from here so that the Tucson Yuma market starts.. LOL
:-)

I really thought Yuma would be the first city in AZ to get LTE but I based this solely on the proximity of CA's LTE. It looks like it's creeping into Yuma.

Is the sensitive LTE signal as a result of the unfinished LTE rollout or is it my SIII that can't keep a steady signal? I can get LTE at my desk indoors in Chandler but I keep losing it every few minutes, I get no signal outdoors. I also got LTE at Chase field on Sunday for a few minutes then it disappeared, no signal outside.
-
I lost LTE in Chandler about an hour ago, haven't seen it since. My 100kbps 3G is back though
-
LTE ?
Yes, I did completely lose data for a minute or two but I'm back to 5/6 bars indoors. I used to get WiMAX here when I had my EVO 3D as well.
-
I'm getting 4G in Chandler as well, downtown to be more specific. 12Mbps down, 1.5 up.

Hi everyone, I've been following for a while and finally decided to make an account. I've been following the LTE rollout for Phoenix. I'm in the West Valley and was curious, I am with Virgin Mobile and know they use Sprint towers so will this LTE work for Virgin as well? I want to drive out to the Camelback tower but it's like 20 miles from me and I'm not even sure it would work. I ask because apparently Sprint has 4g Wiimax here in Phoenix yet on Virgin you cant access those Wiimax towers for whatever reason. I know because I had a Wiimax phone for Virgin about a year ago and Virgin still shows no coverage in this state for that too even though Sprint covers it.
EDIT: According to Virgin's FAQ on Network Vision I should be able to use 4G LTE where available and as it becomes available. I think i'll be a nerd and drive out there sometime today to see what happens maybe. Any feedback before I go is appreciated
Virgin might not show coverage in AZ because I don't think WiMAX is offical here.

You have LTE in downtown Chandler ?
Sorry, it's 3G. We do have WiMAX here though.
-
I'm pulling down over 1MB/s in downtown Chandler again. It's very inconsistent though, tomorrow I might go back to the low 100kbps' were it will stay for a week or two.

Well, like I said earlier today, my contract is up and I'm getting a lot of pressure from the other users on my shared account to switch.
I'm leaning towards a leap of faith and staying with Sprint, getting new phones which 2 of us need, and hoping for better data service within the next 6 months.
I just don't know yet.
I'm a big Sprint critic but their data is becoming more usable. My contract still has a lot of life left but assuming their 4G rollout continues and I can someday soon stream video without problems then the main factor to whether I stay or go will be the ability to keep my current plan. I have no need for unlimited minutes on my plan.
If my contracts were up right now I'd stay a few more months to see how Sprint's data speeds progress. I'd hate to pay more money to Verizon and be limited to 2GB or so for 20-30MB/s speeds that will be mostly useless on mobile devices.

Any update for the phoenix market?
There's been a lot of progress. It shouldn't be too much longer but who knows.

I'd also be interested in such data. Seeing my market near the top would be great since my no-4G rants would be more valid.
-
It's been working great for the past 3 days, no data interruption at all. I didn't even do anything.
-
call airave tech support and have them reduce the coverage area. The airaves are overloading some phones relievers and causing them to "detune"....i have a 2200 sqft house and i had to drop the coverage to 1500 sqft for things to work correctly.
It only happens with the S3 though.

I have my phone in CDMA only mode a lot because LTE isn't always usable. I can pull down 5Mbps one minute and get network connection errors the next.
