  1. I am starting to feel like I am one in a small group who actually wants the Nexus 6, everything I read people seem to want a smaller version and I do understand that. Last year I was going to get a note 3 before I ended up with a Nexus 5, vanilla android is what I prefer and I like having a unlocked phone as well. Waiting to see what Google has in store for the Nexus 6, I really hope it's supported on Sprint this time around (fingers crossed).
  2. Hey guys, this may be a dumb question but I would like some reassurance (I am a noob with unlocked phones). I have read previous post but just wanted to ask again for some advise before starting the process. I want to try out T-Mobile and compare it to Sprint in my area (I fully intend to stay with Sprint). If I get a Walmart prepaid plan (sim) and activate it I know I will have a new number associated with the sim and I don't want to transfer my number as I want to keep my Sprint account and discounts intact. Now all at this point all I would have to do is put the new sim in and reboot the phone and I would be good to go? Then when I go back to Sprint just pop in the sim and reboot again? Will I run into any issues going back and forth?
  3. I am lucky enough to have not seen this with my Nexus 5. I received mine a week after launch. The only time I get a lost GPS connection is in a parking structure or tunnel and that's expected.
  4. The surface case is just a single layer slide on case the dilex has a second layer of protection with the rubber underneath and the hard shell on top. Now I have the the convert case which is a combo of the other two cases of sorts. The convert case is a surface with the dilex on top (slide case, rubber on top of the slide case and back cover with kickstand goes over that). The nice thing about this case has covers for the camera, headphone jack and the charging port, I like this because I almost never plug my phone in. I have a Tylt and it charges with this case on with zero issues, I am unsure of other Qi chargers.
  5. I dislike plugging things in so much I use Bluetooth headset at the gym (that place that sells fried chicken ). Like digiblur I only plug in my Nexus when I need to transfer a big file or lots of files. Digiblur, do you have any heating issues with the Nexus 5 and the Tylt charger? I have read that some people have issues with that, I personally have not but I did find that if I charge landscape that it does seem a lot cooler (25 C as opposed to between 35 and 40 C).
  6. I was worried about the camera as well. I ended up with a Seidio convert case and a Zagg HD screen protector. To my surprise it works with my TYLT wireless charger. I used the same combination with my S3 and it was in excellent shape when I switched to the Nexus 5.
  7. It is the same radio I believe. The old one is .17 and the new one is .23 (under settings>about phone>baseband version, last two digits). I may be in a minority but I like the new radio. When I am at home on WiFi my phone kept trying to lock on to outside signals for calls and texts instead of my airave. This would then cause delays in texting while jumping between signals. With the new radio I noticed that it stays connected to my airave now.
  8. One thing I enjoy about GV so much is the way it transcribes the messages. There can be some real entertainment from reading them when it messes up the voice to text.
  9. From what I read hear it appears that Google Voice is the way to go for now (there still seems to be issues with notifications). I have used Google Voice for voice mail since the original Droid and have not looked back.
  10. Nope. I actually waited a week after getting it to activate. I will say they did know me at the store I went to. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  11. I got mine from a repair store with no questions asked. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  12. I have a question regarding Sprint Spark and the Metro Detroit area (I know it will be awhile). I have read (forgot where and searched this site) that Sprint cannot put 800 MHz near boarder locations, does anyone know if this is going to be the case? I am about 30 miles from the boarder. I know that 4g is being put up all around me now and it would be a bummer if we could not get the full Tri-Band experience down the road.
  13. I live in the White Lake/Milford area but travel to Troy, Westland (grew up here), and Novi areas as well as others often.
  14. Hello All, I am a new member from the outskirts of the "D". Finding this site has kept me on Sprint for a bit longer. All of the information has been a great read and learning experience. I am still not sure that all of my friends and family like me trying to explain all I have learned but they have no choice. Also, these forums appear to be friendly unlike some that I have seen out there. I have been with Sprint/Nextel since early 2003 something and I did switch to Verizon for one contract period but the price was just to much for me to justify. Unlike others I found that streaming 3G (Verizon) from the phone at the time was actually slower then from Sprint. I was looking at T-Mobile but I know that there is a lot of Edge after you leave the city. Sprint has been good to me, giving me a free airave for my signal killing basement and that is why I am sticking it out. Just last week I noticed a new 4G tower go live near my house and it got me all exited. Hopefully it will have the eCFSB upgrades when I activate my Nexus 5 but if not I know it will be fixed eventually. I keep reading all over how Sprint sucks but they just don't know when they actually get this roll-out complete their tune will change fast. Anyway, sorry for the long winded hello. Great site guys, keep up the good work.
