Sprint (S) raises its offer for Clearwire (CLWR) to $3.40/share ahead of today's shareholder vote on a $2.97/share offer, which was widely expected to be shot down. The revised offer, which trumps Dish's (DISH) $3.30/share bid and has been sent to Clearwire's board for review, is said to have the support of Comcast, Intel, and Bright House, who collectively own 26% of Clearwire shares not held by Sprint. Nonetheless, Clearwire +6.1% to $3.46, above the offer price. Sprint +1.1%.

Didn't they already have the support of Comcast, Intel, and Bright House at $2,97?

  2. I have two boys who online game at the same time. Add to that a couple of their friends who bring their laptops over so they can all play together. That is really nothing new in our house though. Friends with Ipod Touchs, DSs, phones and laptops. The guest network password is posted on the fridge.

A few months ago the boys started complaining. It was a while before I took them seriously. Then I noticed the lag in loading web pages when they were both playing. I know I said I read Comcast is increasing the performance from 15 down but I think in our area we had 12/2.

I just question at what point does speed become a marketing tool?

    Check that, it already is.

    It always has been.

  3. We don't do anything that requires more than that (yet!). If it wasn't for the free upgrade, I'm not sure we would have the 50/25. But when we first got Comcast Performance or whatever it was called when we moved in here years ago, I didn't think we would need that. It was more that enough and I think it was even slower then. Before we switched to FiOS, the kids were complaining their online games were dragging. Now I read Comcast is increasing their performance speeds from 15 to 25.

We don't need it but it exists and someone will find a use for it eventually. I would like to know who has a 150/65 connection and what are they using it for?

  4. We have fantasy football mugs, coasters and hats from Cafe Press. Haven't ordered anything recently but we were happy with what we have. The one mug is used every Sunday during football season for years now. (Supposedly for good luck.)

If you use Cafe Press, you can set up a store with them. We didn't place our orders that way, so I don't really know how much the commission is.

  5. That's new since last Tuesday. The tower is of 82 on the Unionville fire company's property

I'm not sure. If it's the one on Rt 82, it's disappointing. I lost LTE right around Rt 1. Hopefully, it is a farther tower or they still need to do some adjustments. Otherwise, I wonder what kind of LTE coverage we're going to have in Southern Chester County.

The 2-3 mile mapping is up on Sensorly. You can see the LTE signal die just around Rt 1.

  6. As for the hurricane. That may pertain to New Jersey or Delaware, but Pa was fine from the storm. Sprint 3g is not very good. I'm trying to be patient, but Sprint makes it difficult. I do appreciate the info you provide. I need you to know that, but the info comes from a company that has problems. We haven't been waiting for 4g for a couple months, we've been waiting for a couple years. Wimax never worked right in the Philly market. Sorry to be whining

This is just an assumption on my part, but I think it is very reasonable assumption... while SE PA obviously did not sustain the same kind of damage as our neighboring states, it is still very much a possibility that the hurricane affected progress in our market. I believe it very likely did. The extra crews needed for repairs in the damaged areas came from somewhere. If crews were moved to states with hurricane damage for repair work then their scheduled work is going to fall behind.

  7. And it is not just retailers either. Since paychecks are now direct deposited, I could take a while getting the few stray personal checks I receive to the bank to deposit. ( I hate going to the bank!) But with my bank's Android app, trips to the bank with checks to deposit are basically nonexistent.

Open the app, take a picture of the front of the back, one of the back, hit a button. A little while later receive a confirmation email. Check deposited.

  8. Try to get pictures when you can of the new panels!

I am assuming they haven't put the new panels up yet since NV is just starting around here but thought I would post these (since I know absolutely nothing about panels) to make sure and then I will keep an eye out for changes.

It's hard to get good pictures. I can get close but there are trees and the fact that the panels go around the water tower makes the panels spread out and blend in with the tower.
