  1. Don't know about how it can be purchased, but I also agree I think there should be a plan in between 12 GB and 30GB - maybe 20GB for $95 ?

That's what I was thinking too, some where between 18GB-22GB of data.

It's a pretty big jump for some people to go from 12GB to 30GB and pay the extra $$ per month.

BUT! I do I like that it's Spark capable, which means when it's here and done we could see top general cable speed, or if the 50-60 mbps is possible - business class cable speeds.

  2. Maybe you guys can answer a few questions: 1) can this be purchased outright without a contract/service plan? 2) if I bought it outright, can I just use it with my cable modem, and possibly just add a data plan on the fly if the cable ever goes down?

I can't answer number 1 for you yet, but to answer number 2 - if you're looking to plug your cable modem in there, it won't work as there is no WAN port to plug in any incoming source. The only thing it does have are the standard 4 LAN ports and USB ports.

Here is the link to Sprint for it, they have some decent photos of it.

  3. Has anyone tried this out yet?  I'm somewhat intrigued by it.

I actually went in to see if I could look at it, my usual store (which is not a corporate store) said they will not be getting it in for at least another week or two. But my rep said that it has already sparked interest in the store.

My only gripe is that there should be one more data option thrown in where if 12 GB is not enough but 30 GB is too much (or is too expensive).

The router itself at good specs and the best part is that it is the next gen AC router which means (if anyone doesn't know) it will be great now, but even better when more AC equipped products are out making everything faster than N routers/products. I do also like the fact that it has two fairly large antennas, so range with this thing should be better than most.

This might be the future replacement of my Sierra 3G/4G Wimax Modem and my Cradlepoint MBR95 router. I will post any updates if I get to look at.

  4. I've had nothing but awesomeness with Sprint! Back when basic flip phones were still a thing, I was on Verizon a couple years later I bought a netbook with Verizon service built in. Both purchases I regret - though I like my netbook and still use it - anyways the service I got was overpriced and sub-par for that thing.

The netbook was fine for the first three weeks, I got decent speeds on it. After that though it was all down hill, dropped connections and barely got a signal - I guess they decommissioned a local tower.

As soon as I could I switched to Sprint (AT&T has no service here) and I'm SO glad I did. Actually I went with Virgin Mobile and my Galaxy Victory is on it, currently my second phone with them. About one year after I bought my first phone from them, I got the Sierra 3G/4G USB modem on a 12GB plan, the sprint rep was so nice she actually asked me if I had any questions about my Victory, needless to say I have a very good partnership with my sales rep now.

Just recently I got a Tab 3 strictly for a business tablet - I own my own business and I don't want to keep using my personal stuff for work - I'm really happy with it.

I have been spoiled though because I live about 1/4 mile from a tower. Even on 3G I got about .5-1.50 mbps on my phone and 1.25-2 mbps on my modem on the pre N.V. upgrades. Now on LTE I get speeds of 12-25 mbps on my phone and tablet and about 2.5-3 mbps on my modem.

Bottom line, Sprint has been there for me both for personal, school and for business. Yes there has been hiccups, yes there has been outages, but every carrier does. As soon as the rest of my towers are upgraded, I will be putting my family and I on the Framily plan and getting a Galaxy Mega, Note 3 or Nexus 5.

I am and always will be a Sprint fanboy and supporter.

  5. My local news had a story on this this afternoon.

I'm glad to see this feature because there are numerous locations here in Wisconsin that I travel to that are roaming, and when I finally hop on the Framily plan and get an upgrade, I'll be using this a lot.

    Go Sprint.

  6. Updated List:

    - There is no premium data charge

    - Current Sprint customers cannot join into another current Sprint Framily plan (you cannot join an existing customers plan)

    - If people are looking for openings go to the Sprint Facebook page

    - You can switch over to Framily only in store (but also through chat & over the phone?) not online

    - There is an Unlimited data guarantee for the Framily plan but ONLY the Unlimited plan (not the 1 GB or 3 GB plan)

    - Off network voice roaming is 800 minutes and data is 100 MB

    - Subsides are not available on the Framily plan, but a device can be purchased out right for the full price OR you can bring your own device that is Sprint certified (not from Virgin Mobile, Boost or Assurance Wireless) OR you can sign up for Easy Pay and spread out your payments over 24 months

    - Discounts will be taken off of ONLY 3 GB or Unlimited data plans NOT the 1 GB or the actual bill

    - You are NOT in a contract - it is "like" a prepaid - where it is a month to month

    - Single lines can be merged or made to a Framily plan

    - For the unlimited plan (and only the unlimited plan) you qualify for annual upgrades
