  1. Makes me feel a little less guilty!

I think as well the previous average included all phone users including feature phones and dumb phones which likely drove down the average. Looking solely at smart phones or even just as the smart phone penetration grows quickly that average will jump up a lot. Plus for two of the carriers it is tough to look at how their pricing suppressed usage. Only being able to afford 2GB a month and not wanting to pay overages probably held back a lot of people from fully using their phones when off wifi. A certain two providers probably wanted to keep the average low as well as it allowed them to infer that people wanting to use their smartphones more should pay exponentially more, allowing them to rake in more profits. To illustrate the point, go on verizon.com (after sprinkling yourself with holy water) and try the build a plan. They label 1GB as average use and 2GB as heavy use. Seriously? Yet they offer plans all the way to 100GB. It's just marketing spin to position the products to gain the maximum revenue. They get you in thinking it will only be X per month for 1GB then when you find yourself using 6 GB they can make out you are just using more than should be expected but will happily sell you the extra for <insert silly number> so what you thought was cheap is in reality a lot more expensive.

Personally I would think 1GB per line is low, 3-4 is medium, somewhere around 5-10 is average and you'd have to be in the 15-20GB for actual heavy usage. And yes, I'm sure theres people out there who only use 1.44MB a month who will chime in that the rest of us are data hogs that are causing global warming etc.

    Global warming! That's funny!

  2. I haven't read this thread in almost a week, the whole Root Metrics report and everything I'm reading just puts a huge smile on my face!

I love how much Sprint has progressed, in fact the proof becomes more and more obvious. I went to an Irish inn/restaurant in Green Bay this last weekend. I was the only one on Sprint while three other people who were with me all have Verizon and guess what...

I was happily camped on Band 26 with -110 dbm pulling about 2-3 mbps, while ALL 3 of my Verizon peeps were at 3G and getting pissed off because they couldn't use their phones!!  :D  :D  :D

And since Green Bay doesn't have "all" the towers completed, it's only going to get better and stronger!

I love this. I've been waiting for these days to go HA! Verizon isn't all THAT great, huh?  B)

  3. UPDATE:

Firstly, I received an email regarding shipping of my hotspot last night. Unfortunately, the December ship out date won't happen, rather they will ship it out "hopefully" in January. They are making sure all the bells and whistles work, and there won't be problems out of the box.

The sad part is I know some more than likely ordered it as a Christmas present. Because of that, in the email they sent me a link to receive a free "Holiday Pack." I'm not sure what it all includes, but it certainly is a nice gesture!

Secondly, if people are still interested, they are offering the Karma Go for $50 off again for Cyber Monday. If you PM me, I can give you a referral code for an additional $10 to bring it down to $89.

Here is the link that explains the shipment date... https://blog.yourkarma.com/karma-go-shipment-update

I'll keep updating this thread as I receive more information. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

  4.

In other news it appears a new account can not join to a Framily anymore, a friend of mine has been trying to port out of T-Mobile all day and failed (until a rep tricked us into adding her ONTO my account, which we have decided will be okay in the end).... This really sucks for existing framily's as their bills will slowly get higher as people fall of the framily.  What a marketing disaster that was.

I'm REALLY bummed by this... Was going to add my grandparents for new lines and possibly an additional iPhone to my account as a new line and I would be able to get it to at least $35... Like Rocket said, we might just need to be creative about it.

But for now, I guess I'll be stuck at $50.  :td:

They really want people off Framily, don't they?

  5. Well that was simple...  My Framily went down to 6 lines yesterday with 3 people leaving, so I posted the ID on reddit and before I woke up today I am at a full 10/10 Framily.

If there is anyone out there in need of filling their Framily up, reddit has worked twice for me - and fast too.

I'm kind of bummed, I tried reddit a couple times already and haven't got any response from it. Granted I only have 2 lines (Possibly 3 by Christmas) but still... I REALLY want to get my bill down.

  6. I stopped tricker treating at about age 12. The last good costume I did was a SWAT officer... Full equipment and everything. Of course being all mock equipment. It was pretty cool!

Now, I hand out candy and advertise my DJ company by setting up lighting packages and playing Halloween music!

  7. You'll have to follow-up with how you like it. I've been considering getting one to replace my Sprint hotspot. We usually only use it when we travel so we have months where we never turn it on and months where I wish we had a higher data cap on our plan.

Given our sporadic usage, I figure my family would probably save money over the course of a year or two with the Karma go even though the cost per GB is considerably higher. However paying Sprint every month for a data allotment on months we don't touch the device seems kind of silly.

I gladly will! I'll do a full review as soon as I get it at my doorstep.

  8. So here's the break down and explanation of it all...

  9. Karma Go Hotspot Discussion & User Thread

Since we don't have an official spot for this little hotspot, I'd like to make one... meet the Karma Go hotspot. Running off the Sprint LTE network, the Go is a Spark/LTE Enhanced enabled, tri-band hotspot.

Currently it runs for $149. Down below in post #2 you'll find all the information that I've compiled about Go.

For anyone who has never heard of Karma, check out the Karma Go

If you'd like to purchase the Karma, PM me and I can give you my referral code for an extra $10 off your purchase!

Be sure to watch for sales to get the Go at $99 and if you add my code in, $89!

  10. Well... My home ISP is through my little Sierra 250U modem (yes I know, I should upgrade to the router, but don't have the extra $$ at the moment) since I live out in the middle of no where, where there is no cable or DSL available... maybe someday. Lets just say I'm VERY thankful for Sprint!  :D

So this is what I get through my Sierra 250U modem & Cradlepoint MBR95 router:

And here is my LG G3 at a -79 signal on B26:

  11. Talking about the Karma, I found this data guide on their blog a few months back. It's a good reference piece.

I'll leave it here just in case it's useful to anyone...

    https://blog.yourkarma.com/how-much-data-do-apps-use

Very tempted in getting one for myself, the fact that the data rolls over AND is more than 1/2 the price per gig plus you don't have the "access fee" is wonderful. :D

BUT... I need to pay off my LG G3 before I spend more money on more devices.  :(
