Look like Verizon gets to keep all the MMWave spectrum that T-Mobile was trying to make the FCC block

So now what’s next T-Mobile? But I believe they have some but it’s in different places if I’m not mistaken. Sprint has their high band for 5G, ATT has theirs as well as Verizon.

They will have to wait until November to bid on the new auction if the FCC goes with its plan without delays. This is where Sprint needs to go ballistic and deploy those massive radios.

Sounds T-Mobile is start to stomp their feet and pout about Verizon buying up Straight Path and their Nationwide MmWave.

    It’s not FAIR!!! Lol!!!

Tmobile doesn't have spectrum for 5G and the clock is ticking. Also, they are around 30 billion in debt due to spending 8 billion on the 600mhz. Tmobile will be adding a lot of debt in order to acquire more spectrum whether MMwave or others high frequencies.

So is Ericsson taking over for massive mimo in Ericsson NV 1.0 markets while Nokia moves to Alucent NV 1.0 markets for massive mimo?

Nothing of a big change. Nokia bought Lucent so obviously they are taking those big cities LA, NYC, Philly, Boston etc that Alcatel previously was responsible for. Ericsson will take over the Southern states where they deployed the network vision 1.0 tech. The only thing that stays intact is the Samsung markets like Chicago, Seattle etc.

It seems like they are the only carrier that is in a urgent state to get spectrum for 5G. Putting pressure on this entity and that entity. Honestly they won't admit to it but just like Sprint wanting that merger with T-Mobile to happen, T-Mobile was banking on that 2.5 spectrum for 5G.

Neville Ray has always dismissed Sprint  2.5ghz portfolio, but deep down he knows is a game changer. He always says how can you deploy a nationwide 2.5ghz network, but you can ask the same question how can you rollout a nationwide network on MMwave Spectrum.

Yes I know it's for malls and stadiums. Why would there be lawsuits.

Interference with residential and businesses WIFI services. The LAA stuff uses the 5GHZ WIFI frequency band. Tmobile wants to be pretty using a public service band for a wireless for-profit business. They don't have the spectrum to deploy 5G period. They have to wait for the CBRS 3.5ghz band or the MMwave frequencies auction, but because their arrogance they say 600mhz and LAA can be used for 5G.

  6. Where is the spectrum  Tmobile will use for 5G? I mean they keep using that B.S that a 10x10, 15x15 600mhz will allow them to launch a nationwide rollout of the tech. I have heard from many people that you will need 100mhz of spectrum alone to deploy a fast, reliable and low latency 5G network. Sprint can do that on their 2.5Gz  and Verizon on MMWave holdings.

That's the thing about Sprint. They have so much they have not deployed that we have not even come close to seeing what they can really do yet. VoLTE, 4x4 MIMO, 256/64 QAM, 2XCA upload, 4xCA, 5xCA getting nearly every tower with b41 and now b25/41 CA and b26/41 CA plus b25/26 CA. Massive Mimo and 5G NR. They are not far behind the other carriers and none of this above is even active. What's going to happen when it is?

Well, the Galaxy 9 will be the first phone that will take advantage of all that except the whole 5G NR. John Saw needs to move and execute fast. I think Tmobile really wanted that Sprint merger because of that whopping 160mhz of 2.5ghz spectrum for 5G.

I dont know. Both AT&T and Mobile had bad reputations at one point and managed to change brand recepion without an expensive rebranding.

AT&T was able to change their image due to the iPhone, Tmobile due to the so-called crooked wireless contracts. Perhaps Sprint game changer is 5G in early 2019. If they launch a 5G spotty network then they are finished. John Saw has a huge responsibility on his hands regarding the future of this company.

They are so slow when it comes to adding these types of features to their phones. I wouldn't count on 2018 being the year.

With the whole fight vs QUALCOMM and Intel becoming the chip marker of choice for Apple I agree with you in that assessment. Apple meme is ' We won't sacrifice battery performance for new network connectivity techs.

Dr. Saw will absorb Günther’s responsibilities into his position as the current CTO and report directly to Marcelo.

Not sure what they’ll do for Jim Hyde yet.

I love Gunther, but I never understood why Dr. Saw wasn't  overseeing network upgrades and reporting directly to Marcelo since that is what CTO Neville does at Tmobile anyways.

It is more insightful than these tend to be.

-$5-6 billion may be on the low side on CapEx going forward.

-Large push back towards traditional towers.

-Going back to the 1.9/800/41 on every macro tower where possible plan.

Yup, I just heard exactly that. 5-6 Billion will be low side of CapEx going forward. He also mentions he wants a great network entering 2019.

Dish and T-Mobile together would make great use of that spectrum. Better for Sprint though to focus on densification of band 41.

Charlie Ergen will die first before handing over Tmobile their spectrum holdings. If Verizon 28ghz and 37ghz bands become a disaster which I think it will because that won't penetrate a paper bag then they will go to the table and talk with Dish.
