    LG V30

There have been some network issues in the past couple of days affecting LTE connectivity. Could that have contributed or are you sure all of the issues are the device?
I don't think so... the radio in the S8 just performs way better in low signal based on my tests. My coworker did similar tests on a TMO V30 and has similar results as well. It might be a software issue with the phone...

  1. Completely wrong thread or market but it looks like sprint plans to bring LTE to the upper peninsula aka Marquette MI. Can anyone confirms this ? I see some marginal activity in the Sensorly app

It is on the expansion map that was released recently... when I'm not sure. As far as I know it's still 3G up there... outside Marquette they added some unlimited US Cellular roaming based on the latest map update.

B25/26 given priority over B41 by default?

I'm going to return the phone... all sorts of radio issues where the phone won't move back to LTE and gets stuck on 3G even though there is super strong LTE signal... Also the reception is terrible compared to other devices

So far, I'm really enjoying the v30.

I really liked the Essential phone but lack of food cases and the need for more updates to polish the software put me off.... Great phone build but the software team is behind and the camera is terrible.

Just deleted all the Sprint bloat and this thing is smooth as butter.

Got my tracking number mine should be here Monday or Tuesday at the latest. Have you checked out the engineering mode on It? Looks like a ton of info based on screenshots and we can also lock band. Very useful for B26 hunting [emoji3]

Between the two femto cells, is there a difference in 2.5GHz coverage?  Is there any WiFi support differences?  Like the Airave 3 does not support the upper most 5GHz channels, but support the DFS channels.  Is there a MIMO difference?

I found the spec sheet for the S1000 but it doesn't detail what WiFi specs it supports other than it only does 50mW on WiFi.  LTE is 100mW but says x2.  Does the S1000 support 2 carriers?

I turned off the Wifi on mine as I didn't want it conflicting with my home internet wifi.

Nice phone so far, calling plus available out of the box.

Awesome!! Can't wait to get mine... FYI this phone requires a 15 Watt charging pad to get max wireless charging. There aren't very many 15 watt output pads available yet. I'm looking in to this.

From what I read they will work fine with our 10 watt pads just at a slower wireless charging rate.

  3. I was told the polar opposite by an 'end of the line' Sprint rep when I was trying to get upgraded to the AR3.  He was pushing the MB and I told him based on what I'd read here that you could only have one or the other on an account, and he pointedly said verbatim, "That's not true at all", and after a brief/further discussion proceeded to set me up with an order for an MB before personally transferring me to the Airrave ordering dept.  We'll see what happens down the line I suppose.
I was told this by the booster team. They handle all the orders for Airave and Magicboxes

  4. The thing i see with s8 and hpue is that phone switches bands too soon with band 41 in area. it hits - 115 to -117 signal switches . it should not switch until you get over -123 . AT 122 i still pull about 20 mbps . So if you do band 41 mode only coverage will increase alot. If they can only sweak radio and software better then be great phone.
Are you running the Sprint version? I don't have that experience at all on mine. It stays on B41 up until -124

How do you obtain one of these? I live in an area without B41 so a magicbox isn't an option.

I just called and got one... I decided to use this instead of the MagicBox as I was able to hide it better in my house. It works perfect. There are two models they send the S1000 (that just is LTE only) and the Airave 3 (that does 1xVoice and LTE). Make sure you let them know the one you want.

Well, carrier aggregation falls squarely under the umbrella of "RF capabilities."

Maybe you are referring to other aspects of RF performance.  But no one, to my knowledge, has written up any RF analysis.  Rather, just someone in the peanut gallery says that the "RF in the Pixel 2 XL is really a turn off," and several of you blindly nod in accordance.

Well the Pixel 2 XL supports 3xCA and 10 Stream MIMO based on my research... 4 stream CA1 4 Steam CA2 and 2 Stream CA3. In an age of gigabit LTE I find this to be a turnoff. The phone (Pixel) "could" still achieve gigabit LTE based on its MIMO stream abilities but a 4xCA phone if the carrier supports it would have a much easier time of getting there. LG is making the Pixel 2 XL. I don't understand why it wouldn't have similar RF capabilities as the LG V30...

Well guys - I have the LG V30 in hand (but for Verizon - I switched back yesterday).  Let me know if any of you have any questions.

First impressions are that this is REALLY nice.  Torn on whether or not to even keep my Pixel 2 XL pre-order.  Might end up keeping this.  I only tried it because Verizon was offering no restocking fee for online orders, and I love the look of this compared to the Pixel 2 XL.  I thought the urge for pure Android would win over and I would end up keeping my Pixel pre-order, but now I am not so sure.

RF (yes for Verizon, and obviously band and provider dependent) has been pretty good.  B13 and B2 have been great on this phone (definitely better than my old iPhone and Nexus) - AWS has been pretty average.

Battery life has been awesome (very limited, yes I know).  Used it all day yesterday from 11AM on with only the 50% that came on the phone when I opened it (and that included all of the installing/setting up apps).  Today on my first full charge, I am going on 4 hours off the charger with about 2 hours of screen on time and still rocking 81% (about 35 minutes of which was SignalCheck and Pandora running on my commute).

The RF in the Pixel 2 XL is really a turn off. The V30 is capable of 4X CA and the Pixel is not.

Does anyone have news when the LG will be able to be ordered on the Website? I was hoping they would have a preorder before the 13th. Has anyone heard if it will support WiFi calling or Calling Plus?
