  1. So far, my battery is holding on hard after the update. The screen definitely seems to suck down the battery but standby time is ridiculous. At 11% battery power it says I have almost 11 hours left.

  2. I think I know why the battery seems to drain faster after updating. I just updated this morning. My battery was at 59% prior to the update with 20 hours on battery and 37 hours estimated remaining. After I successfully updated, it showed 51% on the battery meter. When I went to the usage screen, it showed only 4 minutes on the battery and 1 hour and 31 minutes remaining. It seems like the update sets the scale immediately to 100% no usage from whatever state you were at and reads from there. This may be why it takes one or two full drains for it to realize what 100% and 0% are.

I do have one question, though. Am I correct in assuming that LG left out the ART runtime on their build of Kitkat? I cannot find it anywhere in the developer options.

  3. I've tried the google frameworks trick an insane amount of times but still no dice. I have tried just force stop, force stop and then clear data, force stop and clear both data and cache, force stop and just clear cache, force stop and wait 15 minutes and checked, force stop and cleared data and restart then checked but no such luck. I guess I will have to play the waiting fame like with the ZVA update.

On the up side, I am not too excited about the reports of losing the hidden menu. Also, I was hoping to see wifi calling, true split screen and better rf performance but it looks like none of that will be present. That kind of takes some of the excitement out of this update.

  4. I am excited to get Kit Kat, although I kind of like the blue status bar icons so I will have to get used to going back to white again. I can't wait to try the ART compiler and see how much performance and battery life improves.

  5. I get that error message whenever my phone picks up and drops from roaming and native in areas I don't quite have a good signal but just enough to keep kicking me out of roaming. There is a school here made of thick cement block that I get that message daily in.

    LG G3

I don't know but 32 GB RAM is really pushing it, no? :P

You'll be laughing at yourself for thinking that in 5 years when your G8 can barely keep up with its 8k screen with only 32 gigs RAM.

  6. Personally, I really liked the commercials a couple of years back with Hesse talking against a black and white background. It was simple, powerful and had a honest feel to them. I want to see a commercial that is just straight to the point. Like "We know we dropped the ball. The network slowed. At Sprint, we aren't happy with the status quo. We have invested to bring a new network. A fast network. A modern network. Built from the ground up with LTE in mind and using cutting edge technology. We believe in our new network and we believe in giving you the best value and the best network in the country. Stop into a Sprint store today. Test drive the network. Bring the power of Sprint Spark home today and try it risk free for 30 days. If you aren't happy, we will help you switch back to your old network. Sprint, Ahead of the Rest."

  7. I've been off work a lot this past week and it has allowed me time to think about future events. Quad band? This year we will see 6 bands...the iPhone 6 will be released...on the 6th anniversary since the first iPhone. 6.6.6...Apple and Sprint shall unleash the apocalypse if we don't stop them from amassing this huge amount of spectrum on all of these frequencies. We must stop this unholy network!

  8. The only thing I can think of is an automated network management system that works tower or cluster-wide that utilizes bandwidth management when an area sees a high amount of use. I haven't seen any issues, but I live in a relatively small area compared to some bigger urban locations. From what I've read on NV, there are tools built into the network that help manage bandwidth to prevent the network from being brought to its knees. Does this happen all the time or only during peak hours?

  9. Sprint should definitely make a commercial of network vision and they should have this video played constantly through out Sprint stores

I like that idea. Also kind of related, has anyone seen the new T-Mobile commercials where they directly go after Verizon's horribly inaccurate coverage map commercials? I wish Sprint would speak up and do a commercial setting the record straight on their LTE coverage compared to what Verizon shows. Being silent on the issue only invites critics to let it become truth.

  10. I added a few WiMAX speed tests to my area before getting a G2. Did you try adjusting your zoom level? Some levels of zoom don't update as quickly as others after contributing data.

Apparently Sensorly does not plot speed tests on WiMAX. It does seem to execute speed tests on WiMAX just fine. I think the speeds are respectable. It's not LTE, obviously, but it's still much faster than 3G

  11. So Question...

I'm checking around for 1x 800. If I go into the hidden menu (5689#*980#) and into the IOT2 menu. Then I go into CDMA Settings and there is a Band Preference. If i set it to "Cellular Only" (Instead of PCS only or Any) Will that only allow 800Mhz 1x SMR in or is that the other cellular band? IE Cellular "A/B Block" ?

    Thanks

800 MHz is SMR and not Cellular from what I understand. I am pretty sure "cellular only" would limit you to 850 mhz CDMA to roaming.
  12. I just saw that I am on 51100, also. I didn't do a prl update so it must have done it on its own since yesterday. I checked last night and was on the "new" 55018 prl.

  13. I bought a new Prius a little over a week ago and just today realized I could do bluetooth audio streaming in my car. I connected just fine and streamed Spotify flawlessly today. Drove 67 miles but haven't heard any static like I've heard others complain about. Is it only occasionally or all the time? Any specific apps that others who hear static use that are more prone to it?

  14. My Google Play Services keeps sucking down my battery life, too.  Clearing cache and restarting only seems to help temporarily but eventually it returns to eating up to 60% of total battery use. I hope 4.4.2 will help with this.
