  1. Battery life from the weekend but I wish it charged faster. Took over three and a half hours to get a full charge.

iPad charger. $19 bucks. Get one!

Yes unfortunately Apple didn't include the 2.1amp charger ( it comes with the 1amp block) - supposedly due to packaging- although it's well known the iP6 and iP6+ are the first iPhones to officially support fast charging. I've noticed there are also many good 2nd party brands with fast charger available - both for home and auto..

  2. Looks like China alone will likely break the record 10 million iPhones sold on opening weekend just 4 weeks ago..

    http://www.trustedreviews.com/news/iphone-6-pre-orders-top-10m-in-china

The iPhone 6 will touch down in China this week, and pre-orders have gone through the roof.

Since they went live on Friday morning, more than 10 million orders have been placed...

These figures don't even include orders placed through the official online China Apple Store, so expect the actual number of sales to be much higher.

I edited the post and cut out some of the quote to ensure I wasn't reposting the entire article ..hopefully this is ok now since it's not subscribed website and has the link first. Thanks..

  3. While searching apps on my iP6+ I found that iOS8 users have more keyboard options..

"Popkey" let's you send animated gifs in text or to post ...from a list of categories or your camera roll...

"Fleksy" let's you change color of keyboard plus change the size of the keyboard from small medium to large and has a quick (swipe backwards) delete function

Also found a great Journal program called "Day One"...It lets you record a journal while auto keeping track of your weather and location and even motion... You can insert pics and it has a timeline feature to help navigate

  4. lifeproof is now owned by Otterbox. There's your answer.

That only leads to more questions...

Maybe they own some of be smaller companies that make "cheap" iPhone 6 cases..

They let the desperate buy those and make profit there ... Then many weeks later they bring out their case and rake in more cash...

Yeah sounds like bs.. But the other reason can only be failure to bring product to market on time - which is a cash loss

  5. I don't know whats taking Otterbox so long.. but why in the h*ll are we waiting so long for a case that should've been out 3 weeks ago?   .. I'm sure they get specs in advance.. I mean many cases were out on day 1.. I got my Wife iP6+ case at bestbuy on day 3..

Ive got a cheapo on my iP6+  now protecting it some.. but I need ottterbox defender

  6. I have ran the update and I still seem to be locked on 25.  Oh well, I guess I will live with it and hope it gets better.  (WOW, isn't that the slogan for Sprint Customers?)

I think they are much better now .. I cant wait to see what another year brings.. I love the HD voice.

I used to wonder why I waited patiently for the NV... but now im glad i did.. no service is perfect everywhere all the time..

but just to let you know "Im keeping it real" I didnt always feel this good about Sprint

  7. The iPhone 6's RF performance is regarded as being as good as the LG G3 and the newest Nexus 5 radios. My iPhone 6+, however, will hold unto an ALMOST unusable B41 signal and won't let go until north of -122dBm. The B41 cutoff should be more close to -118dBm, if it were my decision. At -118 dBm, B41 will still smoke a good B25/26 signal in pure performance, but not at -120+dBm.

I havent had this experience here in Ohio yet with my iP6+.  When i went to Florida over the summer and I had a chance to see where the towers were in relation to the map.. it seemed like the sites were maybe a bit further apart.. might be wrong.. but with it being flatter its possible Sprint spaces the towers further apart like Verizon, so to speak.  Ceilluar signals go much further when its line of site..  In Ohio its hilly in comparison ...and in many places the towers are closer then I observed in Florida..switching to the nearest tower if closer could explain why B41 hasn't yet held on this way for me.. and there is a decent amount of b41 here..Again i might be wrong.. i could experience this at some point

  8. Wasn't it the 4S era when AT&T coerced Apple into pushing an update to show the "4G" label next to the bars so people thought they had a faster connection? I remember a friend and my dad telling me their phones went from 3G to 4G with an update.

I edited my post above yours re read... Att has just as much right to call it 4g according to the ITU... Until maybe a year ago LTE wasn't even recognized as 4g by the ITU... All those techs ..wi max as well.. Were marketed 4g..

  9. It does have that "4G" 7.2 HSPA though. ;)

EDIT: Actually they didn't start calling it "4G" until the iPhone 4, did they...

EDIT2: Quick Google shows that I was way off, it was the 4S and HSPA 14.4.

Att was the company that marketed HPSA as 4g ... And Verizon to market LTE as 4g .. And Sprint to market WiMAX as 4g..

But the organization that sets the world standards ( ITU ) didn't even recognize LTE as 4g technology till around a year ago, when they backpedaled some..admitting that all: WiMAX, LTE, and HSPA were being used to designate marketed 4g technologiies..

So ATT has just as much right to call HSPA 4g ...as LTE

But speed for TRUE 4g standards were around nearly 1000 Mbs ( not a typo)

  10. Something off topic but I had the thought Apple would do this for the next iPhone even before the 6 was released...everyone was disappointed that the new iPhone didn't come with a sapphire screen.  My thought is that the iPhone 6S will be sapphire screen and thats what the "S" will stand for just like the 4S was "Siri" and 5S was "security." Just a fun thought I thought I'd throw out there  :)

What did the "S" mean for 3GS?

Sent from my iPhone 5S using Tapatalk

The "S"  stood for speed  ..Thats how Jobs marketed the S model on the 3Gs... but I dont attribute it to the 3G..

There was an iPhone 3G first to show it was a 3G network phone right ? ...The  iPhone 3GS had the S for the faster speedier processor..

    http://www.phonearena.com/phones/compare/Apple-iPhone-3GS,Apple-iPhone-3G/phones/3774,2962

I know Tim cook said the S iPhone 4S stood for Siri ... ( I never heard them say S for sensor when labeling Apple "Touch ID" though but its possible he or someone else did ) ....

Back to my first sentences - all S models have one thing in common - an incremental processor performance boost....making them  faster then the non S models.. thus S for speed on all models wouldnt really be wrong..  .. but we already knew that

    - THANKS CAPTAIN OBVIOUS !

  11. I'm referring to the RF performance of B41 vs. B25, not speed.

Sent from my iPhone 6+ using Crapatalk

We were talking about signal strength / cell range not speed performance.  In our congested downtown area, even a -115 dBm B41 signal smokes a -80 dBm B25 signal in terms of speed throughput. (approx. 20 mbps vs 1 mbps respectively)

Our iPhones could use the range boost of 8t8r then.. when 8t8r comes does it affect all bands or just b41?

  12. While I'm seeing some bugs here and there in iOS 8, I haven't had any rebooting issues.

My biggest grip is the lack of app support for the new screen size, but that is a dev issue.

I'm getting lag and stuttering with certain actions such as Control Center and Spotlight. Beyond that, my 6+ is really smooth.

Sent from my iPhone 6+ using Crapatalk

Although it could've been better it seems the app updates are churning out.. I'm sure over the next few weeks they'll be many more to come

  13. In my area, it is not nearly that drastic.

B41 performs about -2 to -8dBm worse than B25 from the same site, in most circumstances. I've seen B41 perform identical to B25 from the same site, too. It really depends.

I expect 88er equipment to perform really close to B25.

Sent from my iPhone 6+ using Crapatalk

I'd think if a b41 site is performing like a b25 that maybe it's still on old wiring or microwave versus the new fiber which allows the spectrum of b41 to utilize it

  14. No problems with that article.  It does nothing more than prove that the Note 4 - just like the iphones - will bend if significant force is applied.

    : shrug :

They didn't make the news - because they werent apple.. but anyone doing a google search shows the Sony Xperia and HTC One have forums of users complaining of bent phones.

All this proves is anyone who is careless can bend any metal phone.

What I found more interesting is Samsung did a Note with metal in the frame like iP6 ..

  15. Anyone use the Lightning-SDCard adapter? It doesn't seem to work with the iPhone 6, and I could have swore it worked with my 5.

Never knew it existed, kinda gave up on that on my wife's last blackberry.. It took more work to transfer files from that micro sd card to the computer once I was used to the wireless wifi syncing on the iphone..now cloud takes that even further..

I use Apple free 5gb and u can pay .99 cents a month for 20Gb but why?

I downloaded MS One Drive to my iP6+ and you get like 23 Gb for free (15+ another 8 as a promo).. That's where my pics were back up

  16. So...  Apple has my wife's shattered iPhone 6.  And they are now telling me that I initially selected to have to replaced instead of repaired (not true).  So they are going to end up charging me for the full replacement price (I think $299) instead of the $109 for just the screen.

This is the first time I have had to deal with Apple service, and I am not impressed.  Very frustrating.  When I initially went to start the repair service, I didn't see an option for just repair, so I even went into Apple Chat and made sure that they would repair it if it ends up being repairable.  The rep assured me that everyone gets charged the $299 first (without Applecare+) and then after diagnostics if they discover it is repairable then they go that route.  Instead, they didn't even test my wife's device.  They just automatically set it up for a replacement!      Can't help but laugh...  but very disappointed.  I hope they can work this out with me.....

Sounds like a bad experience, but I've only had to go directly to the Apple store locally - where they diag and fix.  My wife's iPhone 5 had the power button fall off after 8 months.. we laughed because she wore it out from facebook.. but apple replaced the phone on the spot - no charge.  Then my iPhone 5c touch screen would jump all over.. touch one place and it was like you touched another.. it was 10 months old.. they diag'd it on the spot and replaced it as well no charge.  Both of those were covered under basic warranty ( I had no Apple care on either ) because there was no sign that those things were my fault or hers.  But I must confess I didnt think they would fix ( far from replace ) my iPhone 5c - because I had dropped it in the bathtub weeks before - it turns out the water never made it inside..

I'm sorry to hear your service experience with Apple is less then good. You should try and escalate this, perhaps writing a polite but frank email to Apple .  It's too bad you couldnt take it to a local store where they do most of that plus - in my experience - they just replace 'em on the spot.  I know they do screen repairs in apple stores which usually you pick up hours later.. I know this was someones fault - the screen.. but in store they diag the phone and tell you "Its just the screen" or not..

Unfortunately, what Ive found with almost any company is the level of service depends all too often on if you're dealing with someone who doesnt give a crap.  And some work whatever job they do just to get by, regardless of company philosophy or protocol.  Apple has alot of good people from what ive seen.. obviously I cant say it sounds good from your pov

  17. Between the new iPhone 6s and how well competitors like LG and HTC are doing, this doesn't surprise me.

I've never been a Samsung fan anyway. Competition is good for everybody, though.

Also mentioned above was  China's cheap upstart phones are hurting Samsung in China.. the people who can't afford HTC's, Galaxies, iPhones will buy these cheap phones.. supposedly China is working on their own Android OS clone as well.. Samsung has tried twice.. Tizen is their answer to Android.  Samsung would prefer to not answer to Google and control all its assets like Apple..  Tizen seems to be off to a slow start, but so was Android.. if Samsung get Tizen penetration in asian markets they can grow it over many years.. The 1st two years of Android were slow

  18. "Seoul, South Korea – — The world’s biggest smartphone maker is suffering a financial decline in the face of intense competition from Apple Inc. and upstart Chinese brands.

In a preview to earnings due out this month, Samsung Electronics Co. said Tuesday that its quarterly profit is estimated to have fallen to its lowest level in more than three years, dragged down by weak sales of its flagship Galaxy phones."

  19. It doesn't stick though.  The next time you go into Field Test Mode and then leave it defaults back to the dots.  I guess I can just try to remember to hold the power button then hold the home button each time...  Just a pain...  Oh well.

I didn't read his entire post at the end.. My bad !!

  20. Hey guys... a question for all of you that have been using iOS for awhile. Is there a way to keep the dBm number instead of the signal strength dots?

I have tried the go to field test mode and then hold the power button and home button until it resets. It will stay then, but the next time I go into field test mode and then leave it reverts to the dots. Do we have a way to permanently, unless I manually change it, stay on the numbers?

With B41 starting to pop up, I find myself going into field test mode a lot more, and then I lose the numeric representation.

    Nope.

    yup.

    yup.

    yup, its annoying as F.

    Well you're wrong dedub...

Uecker, I have my dBm showing permanent by doing the home button trick..

    iPhone Signal Strength

Step 1: Dial *3001#12345#* on your iPhone then press Call.

Step 2: You'll now enter Field Test mode. You'll notice a signal strength indicator on the upper left hand corner of your screen. You can toggle between signal strength bars and a number by simply taping on it. At this point, press the home button to exit the app or if you would like the feature to be permanent, continue on. Don't worry, the process is completely reversible.

Step 3: Hold down on the Power button until you see the ‘slide to power off' bar. Do NOT power off the device.

Step 4: Press down on the Home button until the app closes and you return to your home screen.

That's it. Even when restarting the iPhone, the signal strength can be toggled between bars and numbers. The closer your number is to zero, the stronger your signal is.

The lower your number, the stronger your signal—but don't include the - sign when evaluating (so, if the signal says -60, that's better than -90).

To return to the default bars permanently, follow these steps:

Step 1: Dial *3001#12345#* on your iPhone then press Call.

Step 2: Press on your Home Button once.
