sadly I still see 3G far too often. Mostly on the west side (west of I-95).
Report this with the Sprint Zone app. I'm pretty sure Sprint realizes they need more sites out west, but it can't hurt to send reminders.
Overall coverage is much better than it used to be. There are a lot of spots that used to be roaming that now have native coverage out West.
Also capacity seemed fine at the Wings & Waves air show.

So what band(s) are in the Daytona area
Sprint has been busy in this area. Users with tri-band devices should notice the difference. I just drove from Gainesville through Deland to Daytona and had LTE most of the trip.

Lots of B26 all over Gainesville. It's a night and day difference in coverage and speeds from when I was last here 2 years ago.

I'm not an EE, nor do I pretend to be, but this formula for channel capacity might help. Notice how channel capacity is related to bandwidth not frequency:

Santa Monica is a weak spot. As far as elsewhere, my phone spends most of its time on B41. Highest DL was 73Mbps with the average around 30.

1x800 exists in Los Angeles. It's ubiquitous anywhere North of LAX. Someone else can explain the details, but CDMA can use narrow enough channels that it doesn't interfere with the stragglers in San Bernardino County.
South of LA has IBEZ issues with Mexico.

In Los Angeles AT&T has mostly 4 panel installations. Verizon is a hodge podge of everything. It looks like they picked up panels from garage sales around town.

There's a good chance it will be 10/29.

Congrats Chicago on this RootMetrics report for O'Hare:
The actual report:

When Sprint adds additional channels will they all run at 6:3? Is there a potential of running certain channels at a different ratio to service a different type of demand? I'm thinking of sites that are near venues for big events where users may be doing more uploading than downloading. (I have no evidence to support that assertion.)

Some confirmation from Sprint on Band 41 strategy:

Did this update actually add/change any features? The only info I could find is that it was a direct HTC update via the Play store.

They didn't really leave much room there for 8T8R panels did they?

It's hard to see on my phone. Is that a 2 sector site, or is the 3rd sector just difficult to see?

All of this talk about cell sites on power lines, and no photos!
(Sorry, I figured this was a pretty good time to use that one. )
Look at the first image in this post (legacy equipment):

Yeah but I decided not to go public with it since it might contain proprietary info. I don't want to get in trouble.
Please share anything that becomes public record!

Yeah probably because all of those require extra red tape and/or have more challenging installations. There are plans to convert many of the DAS sites around Malibu, Topanga, Palisades, Studio City, etc but it looks like most of them are planned for 2015.
Do you know more details about this? LA Metro has a lot of Juni gear that probably isn't compatible with B26 (or B41). I know Alcatel-Lucent has some small cell equipment.
-
In the northern part of LA Metro, there are at least 3 LADWP transmission tower installations that have not had any work. The bulk of the remaining work seems to be: transmission tower installations, distribution power pole installations and for some reason sites on university and college campuses (not DAS, but macro sites.)

THIS is funny:
There's a #freejonyive campaign going on on Twitter today.
That's not just a white room. It's the construct in the Matrix.

I really hope Apple proves that it can maintain innovation even without Jobs. I'm excited to see what they reveal -- and I have never owned an iPhone. I would consider an iPhone if it gains tri-band support.

Heck, they'll probably reorg too so I'll have a new boss too ha
Maybe the new boss will put some resources toward updating the circa 1996 coverage maps.

Since Public Service Wireless didn't build out for voice coverage, I wonder what their coverage is like. There doesn't seem to be a coverage map on their site.
