  1. Tyler Tx is 80% done. 5 more towers left until they are done. They are anticipated to be done by the end of the week, or by next week. Back-haul is being done by suddenlink, and is almost done to the leftover sites from what I was told by workers. I have seen at the site near me, two back-haul connections, one from AT&T (old t1's) and the new fiber from the cable co. pls new panels, and everything. Possibly waiting and going to light up all of the current towers at the same time?

I didnt know Sudden Link was doing the backhaul. They're my cable provider. I wonder whats the hold up this week or whats stopping us from seeing LTE since we're 80% done like you said

  2. 7-30Mbps is not inconsistent. LTE is very signal strength dependent. You likely were connected to the same tower with both speed tests. One with a stronger LTE signal and one with a weaker signal. Sprint advertises their LTE as 6-8Mbps. If you get 7 or better, then you're doing good.

Yea when I said inconsistent I meant It never really hit the same number twice.....for instance I saw 28mbps being the highest but it only hit that number once. Thats all I was saying. Are they meeting the average speeds Sprint promised?? Absolutely and im fine with those numbers

  3. Well I believe it should, But in athens the speeds ranged form like 7-almost 30, then the ones around 1 or so were 3g. I mapped out some of the athens LTE when I was there the other night. It is limited to inside the loop,  and only one tower to my knowledge is LIve, and it is downtown. They had some roads blocked off so I couldn't get closer. And I even heard that Athens wasnt supposed to even get it for awhile, That it was a mess up, and they went ahead with the  buildout

ook all I know is Athens was announced a few months ago and I've seen small lte coverage for Athens for about 2 months now

  4. I talked to some people today, only 5 towers left in Tyler left to do upgrades on, and last week, they had 10 left to do, so they have to be making great time. hopefully within a week or two they will turn on the LTE. They are still sticking with the by the end of June story. I got to see some of the screens sprint sees, and what upgrades they have done, and I know it is the truth.

Those speeds in Athens are inconsistent but yet promising. When they complete Athens it should help tremendously because im sure those inconsistent speeds were due to lack of coverage. Looked at Athens on Sensorly today and only a small portion of it showed any LTE connectivity. Meanwhile the info you have about Tyler is what im excited about. 10 towers last week and 5 left this week but im assuming Tyler won't be blanketed with Lte when they flip it on so there should possibly be more towers to add or upgrade
  5. well the downtown site is close to the kltv building. On the east side of broadway. The panels blend it very well with the building color. But you can see them if you look real close. You can even see some whiter patches on the building where some used to be

ok I'll make that a priority tomorrow.....seems like its up to me and you to map Lte in Tyler right now lol....but im sure there's more ppl in Tyler looking for it but dont know about S4gru.com
  6. Thanks if you pick up any 4g I can guarantee I have a faulty phone. I have suspicion that my phone is having some issues.

unless you're running any custom roms on your s4 you should be able to pick up any 4g activity. I've had problems out of my Note2 with signal lately but whenever im in a 4g city like Dallas I have no issues but I do know custom roms can cause connectivity issues
  7. I have driven to most of the Typer cell sites and no luck. Have seen some empty rooftop spaces where it looks like panels used to be downtown, amd on southbroadway and old grande intersection. I have seen several of the new rrus and panels on the site by the french Quarter the one on independence drive, chase building. Check that area out if possible. And the troup and the loop location

    ok will do
  8. Oh OK that makes sense. Yeah I knew they were working, just wasn't sure why they weren't making it known which cities they were doing the major upgrades at. I wish I could access the LTE only setting on the stock S4. That way I could drive around without having to keep using the airplane mode on/off feature. I will keep up with updates, and other towers finished when I see them.

I'll be driving around the Broadway area today to see if I can discover anything....

  9. Been working on getting the map up to date. Updated city/community list to 380 locations.

First up, the officially announced updates from Sprint!

hey I see that Longview,Tx and Jacksonville,Tx are upcoming markets and Tyler is right in between them so is there a possibility we will see work done at the same time as Jacksonville and Longview,Tx
  10. Yeah my folks live in Tyler and they are always the last to get anything. They barely have any DSL options and Cox sold the market off to SuddenLink, after they originally bought it from TWC.

Meanwhile in the VZW areas of DFW they just rolled out 300Mbps speeds on FIOS.

so even if the map shows data speed upgrades it doesnt mean they will install LTE?? Verizon's lte has been in tyler for about 2months now
