  1. I was in Durham last weekend at Guglhupf and my g2 froze up a few times and calls weren't able to come in or go out. I just attributed it to a ROM issue, but maybe there's something else? As for the restaurant... all I can say is 4 out of the 5 people in my party, including me, got violently ill on Sunday. I'm going to go back to my previous stance on Durham. Just stay away
  2. Visited family in Newton over the holidays. Had 4g there the WHOLE TIME. I Mean NEWTON. Not even Hickory. Pleasant surprise
  3. I also cannot confirm 4g on my 2 day old LG G2... however, I'm running Paranoid Android 4.4 . Couldn't STAND the factory crap. I can however confirm that on Killdare and Cary Pkwy, I was able to get the "LTE" signal for 2 seconds before it reverted to 3g by cycling airplane mode. This was a strong 4g area for my galaxy nexus. Guess its not fixed yet. Oh well.
  4. Well then... guess that answers that! The "notice" must have been wrong
  5. I'll let you know on weds when my lg g2 gets here. $49 for the upgrade was hard to pass up....
  6. That's what I assumed was going on. However exhausting all options, I discovered somehow google voice got confused. I had to de-integrate and re-integrate my number and all was well.
  7. Is it just me or has anyone else experienced SMS issues recently? I've been testing a 4.4 rom on my galaxy nexus and haven't received a text in days through hangouts/messages. Just trying to see if it's a rom or network problem. Seems to persist through roms though.....
  8. It is hit or miss. Where I live (near downtown Cary) 4g is non-existent. 3g gives me 0-1 bar indoors. Where I work in Cary (US 64 / US 1) I get 3g. That has improved speed wise. Between the 2 places, I get 4g only by Trader Joe's on Killdaire. Now when I venture over to Atlantic Brew Supply (Over by Meredith College) for homebrew supplies, I've noticed that right by the fairgrounds is where I pick up 4g and keep it pretty much until I'm on my way back to Cary. Anywhere from 540 to that area is pretty much 4g with the occasional 3g. If you have issues in areas I've mentioned, make sure you're on the latest radios for your device that match you android version (if on android).
  9. Depends on what part of Cary. The closer you get to downtown Cary, the less likely you are to get 4g. (I don't care what their coverage maps say I'm in "average 4g" area and get 0-1 bars of 3g). Guess where I live... yup pretty close to downtown. Also at work (near regency) I have no 4g. Also I have the same text problem. It's quite annoying haha, If you look at sensorly or the NV Complete maps, there's a giant hole of "no upgrades" in cary. Here's to hoping that gets fixed!
  10. Man... this sucks. http://www.wral.com/man-dies-after-fall-from-cell-tower-near-coats/12768142/
  11. I love how sprint's coverage map says I have fair LTE coverage at my place, but I've never picked it up inside or out. Oh well.
  12. @4ginnc or anyone really... I got the signalcheck app and loaded it up. I noticed it reports a LTE signal strength, but is connected to EVDO. Does anyone happen to know if this means there is a LTE signal, but the 3g is stronger so it grabs that? Is sprint perhaps blocking LTE on the site? Is this just an artifact of the program?
  13. What phone do you have? I only pulled 7mbps down on old apex. Also I drive by los tres magueyes on my way to work. Haven't connected there yet. Anyone know if the galaxy nexus for sprint lacks in 4g picking up ability? haha
  14. So off-topic question (maybe) Is it me or is something up with texting in the area? I get my texts on google voice but not on my cell phone.
  15. That's what I see on old Apex between Maynard and High House. Just that stretch of road do I get 4g. I haven't tested speeds there, but its there!
  16. make that 2x, apparently somebody is mapping in durham too
  17. I'm aware of the 540 and Ten-Ten spots and have been for months. However, about a month before that, I saw ehrpd in the Cary area. About a week or so before the 540 site went live, I went back to Evdo everywhere. Now this morning, I was only able to map the 6 points on old apex rd. However, I see some more points on kildaire and some on the southeast side of Cary that I did not map. The distance of these "blips" to me indicates 3 new LTE towers. Unless they're glitches or something. So 1.5x the towers, to me at least, is speeding up. What can I say, I'm hopeful.
  18. well i dont see edit but there was some 4g that popped up on old apex near high house. Got that mapped. So ... fill in the blanks on the map. Think this sunday the area will light up like a christmas tree?
  19. So I see a blip of 4g on kildaire at the tryon intersection on the sensorly maps. That's on my way home, I'll throw up sensorly and see if I can map it.
  20. I wouldn't trust anything the sprint people tell you in store. I went there once (store at crossroads) asking about speeds when mine was 2kb/s and the reply I got was "the galaxy nexus isn't as good of a phone as the nexus s, you should trade in the phone."
  21. hmmm see this is confusing to me. It should be a market-wide thing, right? I haven't seen ehrpd since last week. Are they just testing individual towers now? Oh I'm in Cary pretty much near downtown.
  22. Spriint: TRICK OR TREAT! .... waits .... Crap no lte
  23. Interesting.... in Cary right before Apex, we're still EVDO Haven't seen ehrpd in a week or so.
