  1. Something is happening here near niwot. Keep getting kicked off the data network. Restarted my phone a few times .. Keeps falling back to 1x. Think we are really close folks. Not sure if anyone else is experiencing similar issues today in Colorado.

I also have noticed, as well with family, using iPhones.. seem to not be able to receive imessages from other iPhones using the phone number, only the email associated with the Apple ID.  I had to turn off iMessage, and re activate , than it showed I can send and receive imessages using my phone number again.

I wonder, if this is related to NV, as the new network is being built out, the phone or apple did not recognize Sprints network, and the phone number send and receive on imessage was disabled as inactive thinking the carrier was not active any longer?

  2. just wanted to point out that im connecting to some new 800 towers at home. Connected to one in Larkspur just now. Not on map yet but i know thats common right now. Im off 104th and federal fyi. Also 800 is not going to be better than 1900 in signal strength if your like almost a mile away from the tower with the only obstruction is the brick walls that im surrounded by at work? I have always had great service inside the building before 800 and really think signal strength went down. i assume its in test phase. Just wanted to  put that out there guys. Thanks

JTHawks.. Sounds like me and you live in the same area. I am also off 104th and Federal. I did not see any 1x800 this morning, but Ill check when I get home tonight.

  3. I can't wait for there to be a cluster in Denver! Aside from rush hour traffic, that is. I'm putting money on Sat, either this weekend or the following.

I think I am becoming so obsessed with the clusters coming online.. Every morning I wake up, kill my Wifi.. to see if it flops to LTE. Every morning I am disappointed to see 3G.  I drive to work, leaving my phone in the field test menu, to see if I locate any 1X800 or LTE.. None. I get to work, with 250k Speeds just hoping to see some LTE soon. I think I need a life.   :tu:

  4. Sprint provided it to me. I've lived at 3 different places in Denver and I couldn't so much as send a text at all 3 locations. If it wasn't for the great price they have on unlimited data with no throttling I would have switched years ago. For about a year I didn't have internet or cell coverage and I was able to survive so I guess I'm not the type of person who starts throwing a fit if my phone doesn't work (see Louis C.K. standup). I think/hope it is primarily the phones I have had since moving here. I've read the htc evo 4g and the galaxy s2 typically get poor signals. Hopefully the s5 will be much better because i'm pretty much sold on it even though it hasn't been released.

I see. Thank you, I some family, who for some reason live in a dead zone ( 80th and Conifer in Denver), its practically impossible to hold a phone conversation with them, and most of the calls go to their VM.

I mentioned the airave but online it was 99 dollars. So I wasn't sure how they might be able to get one with no cost. I may end up just buying them one, if it comes down to it.

I am pretty interested to see what Samsung unveils for the S5 as well, I do like Samsung devices. Should be pretty interesting to see what they announce!

    Thank you for the response!

  5. So last night while driving home from work, trying to talk to the wife (yes, I convinced someone to marry me) on my way home using my Bluetooth. I dropped the call 7 times. It seems the calls were not handing off correctly. Every time I had a call fail, I had only 1 bar... Than if went back to 5. This happened over and over. I figure it's because of the upgrades that see taken place. I had a co worker who has sprint, experience something similar in Arvada last week. Anyone else getting the same thing? I think this means we are really close to the switch being flipped on so to say. It's unlike sprint to have so many voice call issues. vysu7e2u.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  6. MLB is the unholy mix of large congregations and boredom... this does not fair well for any network based data.

    Boredom?

I guess I would be the only one who wasn't.  Now, I do enjoy taking a few snap shots of the game, and sending to some friends and FB/Twitter, but I would have done the same thing at a NFL game... if  I could afford to go to one... Hence.. the HDTV gets me the best seat in the house.. and the beer.. is pretty cheap too!  :tu:

  7. Yes, baseball is such a methodically paced game with so much smartphone tempting downtime that -- even with MLB venues generally half the size of NFL venues -- a typical baseball crowd may burden the cellular data network more so than a typical football crowd.

Also keep in mind, 81 games at a venue throughout the summer too, while its not 72,000 every time, its not just 8 games a season.

  8. To my knowledge, NFL mandated Wi-Fi cannot be wireless provider specific.  It must be accessible to all.  And that is the smart move for all major league sports venues.  Otherwise, bad connectivity at games will start to hurt paid attendance, much the same way that HDTV has become a greater and greater excuse for people to not go to the game and just watch at home.

"I'd kill for LTE or even 1900 EVDO at Mile High next year... I'm pretty much always roaming in the south stands, and I have to toggle into airplane mode between exchaning texts with my freinds if I'm going to last through the whole game.

And to make it worse, Verizon (my sworn enemy since back in the Nextel days) has a wifi network throughout the stadium which you can only access if you're a VZ customer. I'm guessing Sprint can't install anything onsite becuase Verizon's the Broncos' wireless sponsor and there's probably some sort of exclusivity deal incorporated into that."

This is why I was wondering the WiFi would play in effect to MLB Stadiums if Mile High was already using a Wifi System exclusive to VZ customers?

  9. You should ask the Rockies what they are doing about enterprise grade Wi-Fi at Coors Field.  The NFL is mandating its venues meet certain Wi-Fi availability and capacity standards.  MLB should do likewise.

    AJ

I agree. The only news I heard coming out of the MLB, even close is iBeacons. I would like see WiFi agreements go in place, but like the NFL, could be a carrier exclusive deal, which I doubt Sprint would snatch up... especially at Coors, in a market like colorado with only 14%.

  10. so because we have a pathetic market share here sprint thought going last would be better? I would think we should be almost a test market cause the market is small. Also maybe a way to get subscribers here by showing off the lte capabilities. this just makes it better so the network wont get bogged down. so good news in a way. basically im glad its a low market share. more bandwidth for me. I do wish that opening day for the rockies is better than years past. I can never make a call or send a message or data doesnt work. I hope this vision upgrade helps that.

True. I can see that. When I head up to a Rockies game, I can't use any data, or send any picture messages. iMessages struggle to send, and sometimes fail, and fall back to SMS.  I seem to be able to make a phone call okay though.
