  1. So I live in Elk Grove and drive out to Roseville to test the LTE. All I have to say is "WOW". Now I can't wait for the rest of the area to get LTE.

29 down and 6 up. This was at the arco station at Cirby and Riverside.

    Holy Sheet that's fast!!

I'm so stoked for this upgrade.. I'm biting my nails waiting for them to flip the switch in my area.

  2. Yep Sprints up there! Very top rack. You can barely see the RRU's up there clearly but the slightly rounded antennas in addition to the fact that they're different looking in comparison to google street view all but confirms sprint is up there! Good one.

    ZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

sweeet! I'm thinking between the lower sac and sacramento st towers I should have excellent coverage when they hit the switch.

  3. I've tested the top 3 carriers in my area. Sprint's still rolling out LTE so there's some places where signal isn't the best.

At&t is ridiculously quick. My cousin just upgraded from the S2 on AT&T to the S4 and he now has LTE signal everywhere. He's been pulling an average of 5MB/s nearly everywhere he's been, even indoors is above 30 mbs. I am incredibly impressed with their rollout here in Jacksonville but my cousin used up half of his monthly data in less than 3 days from all the tests. This is the reason I'm still with Sprint. I don't have to worry about going over and average sprint LTE here is about 6mbps down. Rarely get above 20 unless I'm less than - 85dBm.

Agreed.. I love their speeds, but whats the point if you're going to use it up in <a week?

  4. East Pine is perfect. Not in progress but not unexpected since I didn't find a permit on it anyhow. The one on beckman is unclear but looks extremely promising on the top rack of 3. Google images of the top rack shows only 2 antennas from oct 2012. Just need some visual verification by either yourself (via samsung RRUs) or an image of the antenna with higher quality lens.

On the other hand, I don't know what the hell is going in stockton without building permits reports unless someone actually visits their building inspection division (or whatever they call it). Several county sites to the east of tstockton were approved / issued though but I don't want to pressure you to driving all the way out there.

    Much thanks!

Quick Edit : If the tower on Lower Sacramento Street gets turned on for 4g or 3g, it should cover at least 1/3rd of lodi!

I have some more photos of the site at beckman here:

in regards to the Stockton stuff, I've been in contact with that division for some time now and they don't seem to understand what I was looking for..they kept asking me to be more and more specific and I couldn't figure out how to be more specific than either all building permits that I would sort through, or all permits done to cell towers with FCC IDs provided.

How far east? Like I said, I'm trying to take my mid off some things so it might be worth the drive. Besides, this tower hunting is pretty fun :)

Epic!! I'll snap some shots of that one tomorrow evening.

  5. okay so I was able to upload these before I got home lol

here's the one from East Pine st, lodi ca:

    and beckman rd, lodi ca:

I'm pretty sure the brown one is not the right tower, but I snapped some pics of it just in case since it was pretty darn close to the other tower and appeared to be at the same address. That's as close as I felt comfortable getting to this tower since it was pretty far back on someone's vineyard and I wasn't feeling particularly :ninja:

That still leaves Lower sacramento rd and I think one out in woodbridge.. I might be able to snap those tomorrow, and if either of these are too blurry to tell whats on them for sure I can snap these ones again with a better camera.

I'm trying to take my mind off things after work  :( and this is helping out a lot, so I'll be cruising around looking for sites these next few days. If there are any not too out of the way in stockton, I'll snap some of those as well.. I'll have to check the map tonight :D

  6. I snapped some pics of the sites on beckman rd, lodi ca and e pine st, lodi ca. I'll be uploading them when I get home tonight.

The pine street ones look promising, but the Beckman rd tower was too far back on someone's property to see it really well. The panels on that tower were the thin legacy-looking ones, but there could have been some NV ones too. I'll have to head back out with some binoculars or my girlfriend's camera. That one has some optical zoom and I might be able to get just close enough to make out the panels.

  7. I'm almost certain this is a sprint tower. It's located at 216 s sacramento st, lodi ca

I'm not sure what work, if anything, has been done on it, but I figured I'd share these photos for analysis since the permit has been applied for.. Well, I think it's this tower, it may be another one close by. Can anyone confirm?

Quality is not that great, but should be okay for a quick look :)

  8. And as proof that I'm not spitting out "bullshit" ...here is one of the recent permits that Sprint has put through for Network Vision upgrades in Sacramento. This is but one of many that I'm tracking and will be tracking till the market is complete.

I notice that this permit lists a few extras compared to the ones issued in Lodi... does this mean that the tower you posted is just a higher volume (which I'm sure it is) or that the ones in Lodi will not be LTE?

I guess a better question would be... How do we know that an upgrade is going to be for LTE and not general network improvement like better 3g?

  9. I can tell you that when the wimax 4g was live in my area, it was at least a month before I got and email telling me so. It may have been far longer, but at least a month. I set my phone to cdma only because of data problems. If you use this forum or know others waiting for let, you'll know when its on

sweet.. I'll keep it on LTE/CDMA unless the data issues return.. & I'll keep cruising around here, like normal :)

  10. Keep it on lte/cdma the tech was full of shit. The text issue is a known issue when they switch on 800 3g. Ive seen plenty of people in the south bend area with this issue including myself and it all started with the 800 3g clusters being turned on in my area.

Sent from my LG-LS970 using Tapatalk 2

Makes sense, I've been seeing way better 3g speeds all around me.

  11. AFAIK setting it to CDMA-only only disables the LTE scan, and the phone should only disable EV-DO when connected to LTE. As such, you cannot get LTE without the setting on LTE. Sounds like the rep you spoke to was new, or a fool.

This may seem simple, but, in the S3's dropdown menu, one of the options is "Mobile Data", make sure it's enabled. I've done it too.

hmmm... I like to see my thoughts confirmed :D

I will point out though, I have not had the problem since. Also, the code 600 connection error they had no documentation on disappeared, as did the "invalid username and password" message box.

lol that was on thing I did check.. though I rarely turn it off, if ever.

  12. I've searched the forums a bit but was not able to find an answer to this..

A little backstory.. I was advised by a sprint rep to leave my S3's preferred network mode on LTE / CDMA so I can get an LTE signal once it's live in our area. Everything was working great until recently, I've been having random issues connecting to data. SMS, and calls were flawless. So I called up sprint and they did their refreshes and whatnot to no avail. Got to tier two and they recommended that I go to Settings > Wireless and networks > Network mode and turn the network mode to CDMA only.

The rep advised me that I'll still get LTE with this setting once it's live in my area. She also advised me that engineers will send out a SMS letting us know when LTE is live. Can anyone confirm these please? I'm stoked to get LTE and I don't want to miss the launch.

Based on the timing of the permits, I'm guessing (total stab in the dark here) the connection problems I've had recently could have something to do with tower upgrades around me, which makes me excited
