off topic: twice in the last two weeks i have seen newer SUV type vehicles inside the fenced area at the corning tower. these are not your typical work truck looking vehicles. could these be network testers for sprint or inspectors of some sort?
NSA installing taps?

What is this application that you're using? This looks pretty useful!
This is too funny. As fate would have it, someone flipped the switch. My backyard gets an LTE signal and the front of the house is 3G.
At least it shows progress.

I was able to snap a pic of the tower by highway 99 and morada lane. The location of it is:
38.04146815156929, -121.26031465017881,
9811 California 99, Stockton, CA 95212, USALook closely between the trees
This one is a little far away but based on my older pics the panels on the right are new.
The location for this one is
37.953670743576886, -121.28588367515694,
1-99 North Sutter Street, Stockton, CA 95202, USAThis is the new pic from the other day:
this is the old one from a month(ish) ago:

why if i switch my phone over to CDMA only it connects to EV-DO and i get speeds of 1.5 to 2.5 megs down which is great but if i switch to CDMA/LTE/EVDO signal pro says i'm connected to eHRPD and then i barely get .5 megs?
Also, I was on my way to work this morning and saw work being done on the tower by morada lane/highway 99 next to Raley's! (Stockton/Morada) Also, I was roaming and last week I was getting decent 3g speeds there.
-
So I'd say the past 3-5 days there has been really bad signal in my area. A lot of roaming which happens not often. I roam all day in my house, at the local grocery store, my gf's house, pretty much the whole community.
Today I took another route to catch highway 99 to go to Modesto and I noticed at the side of the road in a little barn there was something that caught my eye. It looked like LTE towers and there was a boom lift next to the tower. I managed to take a couple of pics.
Can anyone confirm these are Sprint LTE towers? More exact location was on French Camp Rd and S Wolfe Rd.
So far in Stockton this is the only location I'm roaming like this.
Here are some dropbox pics:

I've noticed that on my way from downtown (99 North from hwy 4)
I've been getting total signal loss, like there's a .25-.5mi hole in data coverage. I show no signal in signalcheck but I have very slow data speeds in speedtests. In the same spot too.. there's a sprint tower by raleys but its a ways up the road from where I seem to lose signal.
on top of that, data speeds around the same area have been crap(pier than normal )
downtown speeds have dropped to about half of what they were in the last month or two, and that started about a week or so ago.
#fingerscrossed

I am downtown near the Capitol and I had 4G for about five minutes. I did a speed test using OpenSignal and had download speeds of 125 and 312 kbps. My upload speeds were 1294 and 18062(!!!)kbps. This was at 4:02pm.
I had a similar experience up there last week...my LTE speeds were about 150-300kbps and my 3g speeds were upwards of 3/3
. kinda backwards lol
but very awesome.

Sweet, thanks for the info. I just got fine reading up on PRLs and got a lot of useful knowledge..
I was not able to find the custom Prls you mentioned. Are they a premier sponsor feature? If not would you kind providing a link to the forum I can find then in? I've green tinkering with the idea of a custom one for a while.
I'm surprised there isn't an app to flash custom prls
Nope. You'll need to hop back to a stock rom and update the prl there and flash CM if you do want to switch PRLs to the ones like what we have in the sponsors area.
depending on what your current PRL is, you may not have to update it. The prl update is not to enable your phone to connect to new towers. basically, the PRL is a combination of groups of towers that the phone looks for, and Sprint will add new towers to the tower groups.
-
Just curious about PRL updatges on cyanogenmod. Anyone else running this ROM?
There's no way to update PRL within the OS..it can get tricky updating it at all form what I've read. Will we need to update PRL to get LTE when it goes live? Should I even be concerned?

I was just in the bay area yesterday, around El Cerrito, and my speeds tested at:
49ms ping
21.72Mbps down
8.34 Up
They were a little sporadic as I traveled about the city, but stayed well above 6Mbps the times/locations I tested and had very low pings. I'm not sure if LTE is even finished here but it sure felt like it was. Playing HQ Pandora streams while uploading HD pics to facebook is something I've been aching to do with my cell since I got my S3!
-
......yes, I see that. I'll get a photo tonight and post it when I can.
sweet, I love to see more pictures of towers from around our area.
-
Take a look at the picture I took when driving, it's the best I could take :/

that's stockton collegiate... I'm not sure how to confirm if that is our cell site or not for sure

Yesterday on my way to the Wells Fargo bank in Downtown stockton passing by California street I saw an LTE tower on top of a building. It was on the other side of the Chase bank. Does anyone know if that is Sprint's?
Also, I had full signal LTE in downtown San Francisco and I only averaged 1.5 MBPS down, and in Oakland 3.4 MBPS. But in the Bart station in Dublin I was getting constant speeds of 13-17 MBPS. Does anyone know why that is?
a really really tall brick building?
a little southwest of the chase building, or another direction?

It's the calm before the storm at the moment. I expect a few sites here and there will be accepted every now and then but most sites are slated to begin over the summer so it's still early for mass acceptances. Probably best way to check on progress is to physically go to the cell sites and see if they're working on them. I think we won't see a steady stream of acceptances till mid july and august as most contractors appear to have begun in these past few weeks.
-*edit*- Found a few more permits applied / issued and moving up to issuance. A new contractor as well - SBA Network Services.
do we have a list of contractors sprint uses in our area? I think that would be very helpful in the permit search
-
Ihave some updated photos of the suspected "tower" on the corner of weber and main st in stockton:
and also some (far away) shots of the tower on the 99 frontage rd behind raleys in morada:
From what I saw these looked fairly old.
-
Definitely. I expect stockton to get it's first LTE signal at the latest by the end of summer (august probably). Side effect of cell sites going online after July 1 is that probably LTE 800 / CDMA 800 1x will come online at the same time as LTE 1900 which would be very noticeable for voice reception & data (for tri-band devices).
Do you think my Stockton will have some LTE signal by the end of the summer or end of this year?
Really anxious for the Upper Central Valley and Lower Central Valley markets to be finishes. The road trips down on 5 to LA until you pass the grape vine is eternal with that coverage trying to stream netflix on my ipad mini
Im keeping close tabs on this and I'll be reporting any lte in lodi/stockton ASAFP.
im interested to see what will happen wheniDEN shuts down, if tht has anything to do with anything lol
-
Doubt it is after looking at streetview images. Still worth it to go up and take a look regardless. If only someone would get stockton building permit info....
I've been meaning to I just havent had enough time lately.
there's a web portal where one could request them via email/phone. They're really helpful

Mines acting up again. It randomly reset this afternoon, and di so 3-4 days ago.
Only a month until I can dump it.
I almost dumped sprint over my fiasco. I kept getting the runaround until I called corporate. Then they offered me an evo 3d as an "equivilant replacement". HA. fat chance.
Only thing I dont like about my s3 is that I have to wait for ecent speeds, ut my hopes are being lifted day by day
-
Ya, could be a high capacity dual antenna site. Doesn't look anything like ATT or Verizon setups where they typically have 3 or 4 antennas. Not T-mobile AIR's or MetroPCS stuff either so... not to mention they're right next to legacy Sprint PCS antennas....
I work around here and I cruised around a bit a couldn't find any other towers or anything nearby, but I only looked for about 5 mins..there's not much but buildings down here and this is on of the taller ones nearby.
-
this one is from google:
I'll try to snap one from this angle tomorrow and see if I can get in a little closer.
-
I just checked and tagged the one that had more of those sticking up "two more!"
the almost blend in to the decor on the side of the building. On the roof between the 2nd and 3rd windows:
That building is huge! I won't be able to snap that one unless I can find my old point and shoot
-
These two look suspicious...
even more suspicious is that there's a couple more poking up that're to the right of those.
-
I had countless problems with this thing. I had 5 different ones from sprint and I ultimately got one more, sold it on ebay and bought an s3 outright.
-
It doesn't look like it to me but I can't really tell. You should have went on the roof lol.

lol I'm looking in to this. Either way I'll like scoping this out
-
I have pics of what I think is the tower on main and sutter st in stockton (see post in sponsors forum for tower ID and GPS location)
can anyone confirm that this is correct? I just noticed these devices on the sides of the building recently and they look like sprints but I can't really tell.
it appears that the hardware is located on top of a building. I may even be able to get to the roof of this place for reasons I won't get in to here, but I'll be looking in to that soon.

Does anyone have any information on what's causing the delays in lte in the lodi/stockton area? ass luisBOSS pointed out, there are a lot of sites that have LTE hardware setup. I understand there are a lot of factors, I'm just curious if anyone ahs any juicy details
