If I select 3G & More and LTE Plus (No 3G) I see lot more B41 coverage.  The two B41 towers that are new near me are shown.  Manhattan is shown correctly. Shentel B41 is shown. The B41 I saw in Huntsville is shown.

Great Find concerning the Shentel LTE Plus Coverage. The jwMaloney maps even show the difference between inside and outside LTE Plus coverage.  You now have one vote for making the jwmaloney maps the official Sprint Maps.

The B-41 coverage shown on the Maloney maps appears to be fairly accurate too. 

How can the Sprint managers see these jwmaloney maps and then look at the official Sprint maps and feel good about their products they place out for public consumption?

Probably more than I mentioned.  Does not look like any Shentel data has been upgraded for a long time. That is a shame

since the service is great. The mapping should reflect that, but it does not.

LTE Plus coverage not showing in Shentel territory

You must have  a lot of Square footage, because an Airave will normally cover a fairly big home.

20X20 on band 25 could be possible in some of the rural areas but I have not seen it anywhere.  Some of the more populated areas that I frequent do not have it either, probably because CDMA voice is still needed.

Sure it would be nice to have Band 41 in every corner, but if you saw how rural some of these areas are, you would not spend the money to activate band 41 either.  When you have more cows and cornstalks than people, you need cell service but you do not need 3xCA band 41. if you have two band 25 channels running at 20 down each, would you spend thousands to add band 41?

We have Band 41 on sites that need it.  Have some 10X10 band 25 at some places.   Some of the Shentel territory is rural, and it just does not make sense to activate everything that may be possible.

The results Sprint is getting out of Shentel is excellent.  It would never make sense to tear up this agreement.  Actually Sprint and Shentel are expanding the territory Shentel is responsible for.

Yeh, SURPRISE.   But not really for the residents that live in Shentel controlled areas. Shentel does get things done and done correctly.

The affiliate arrangement of years ago was mostly a failure. Shentel was very very different. The other affiliates cut corners and never done the job correctly.  Shentel was just the opposite. They stepped up, did the job and are the only survivor out of all the affiliates.

Not only did they survive, they built an exceptional network. The Sprint Network would never be as good here if Sprint was controlling it themselves. Sure, somebody, somewhere in Shentel territory is going to complain.  There will be a spot somewhere that is not covered perfectly.

I agree, live in eastern panhandle of wv now and love shentel's service. My only gripe is that shentel prefers at&t's style where coverage and reliability is near perfect but speeds are low.
When I lived in Pittsburgh I got used to the better speeds.

In my area, Shentel added Band 41 to the sites that needed it.  They did not add it to the more rural sites that were fine with band 25 & 26. I would have done the same thing if I was making the decisions.  They do eventually add B-41 or make wider band 25 carriers if a site starts to get too much traffic.  It would have been very expensive and wasteful to have every Shentel site fully equipped from the start.  The bigger towns have B-41 active and the very rural sites do not.   None of us need the extreme high speeds that you see posted sometimes.

Lancaster is improving lately, but it always was a step behind Shentel's service in nearby York. If you traveled around in York but happened to cross into Lancaster,  you often had some issues.  Recently, some improvements did happen in Lancaster, especially band 41.

Shentel has a fiber network in Pennsylvania. Will not be much of an issue to extend it into Lancaster. Shentel understands how to use fiber where appropriate.

Yes, Yes, Yes.   I live in the Original Shentel area along I-81 in Pennsylvania. I have had GREAT service for years due to Shentel having a network that is extremely good.  When you experience this type of network and had to travel outside the area into a non-Shentel area, it could be quite painful.  Things will be getting better and that is a big plus.

Other locations in which I see these changes: Frostburg, Maryland - 21532. When traveling through these areas, the phone would stick to Sprint 3G and then hook back onto Extended LTE when leaving the areas. I'm glad to see that these changes are now full Extended, but I wonder if they have kicked into effect, as I was there this past week and it was still 3G.

Those few old 3G only sites around Cumberland & Frostburg, Md could easily be turned off now  This would make it much easier to do a quick rip & replace without disturbing anybody. Allow all users to use the Extended LTE while the contractors have the ability to rip all the old 3g, start with a clean slate at each of the sites, install all the new.  I do not know if it will happen that way, but I would surely consider doing it that way if I had the responsibility.

To be able to see it, you may have to turn off your LTE if the site happens to be ONLY broadcasting CDMA 1X on 800. Hope you also find LTE on 800, but that was not mentioned as being in service. Bring on some screen shots.

You probably ran into something like I did two weeks ago.  I was in a Mall, found a Boost Mobile store. Was just wasting time while my wife was handing over my credit card to other retailers.   At the entrance to Boost Mobile, I had a band 25 signal of -80. This mall is noted for a very weak Sprint signal from a distant cell site.   I started walking away from the store in several directions.  Sure enough, the signal got weaker fairly fast as I moved away from the store.   Something was in the store.

In talking to the two employees, they said absolutely nothing was in the store.  I talked to them for a long time and went down several avenues.   They vowed that this was just normal Sprint signal.  It sure was not.   It was not a Magic box.  In looking at all the info in Signal check and then looking at the signal outside, it was some type of repeater that was boosting the signal from the local weak cell site and transmitting on Band 25.

Outside the mall, a -110 from the cell site.   Most places inside the mall, a -118 from the same cell site.  At Boost Mobile, a -80 from the same cell site verified on the Signal Check display.  I suspect the two employees were probably very new and were not ever informed of whatever was in the store.  Sad.  The bad part is that they were not even sharp enough to figure out what I was asking about and trying to prove. They were probably taught to just show the amount of bars on the phones and sell them.

I was in Tucson for a couple of days lat week.  Visiting a relative.  I did encounter some  Band 41 at times.  It is not everywhere, but it looked like it was in progress.     I did notice that in areas with only Band 25, it mostly was weak signal strength and very slow. It surely is a sore spot. It does need some major attention and soon.

While I was not familiar with the actual location of the sites, I would suspect that sites without Band 41 might actually be ground mount sites. I just was not able to take time to locate any cell sites and look at them.  I would guess that any upgrade to B-41 would cause the ground mounts to become top mounted.  Band 26 antennas probably are on the sites if they have band 41 added. It would make sense to place all the antennas and radios at the proper place and then eventually turn on band 26 when they can.

It seemed that the spacing on the sites are worse than normal probably due to flat land and very few tall buildings. They probably need to start adding some mini-macros  to cover the areas that were in-between the old 1900 sites that were too widely spaced.

I  also visited Tombstone while in the area.  Roamed on AT&T LTE and Verizon CDMA voice while there. Sprint was missing. I made a phone call on the Verizon 1x and also used the AT&T LTE.  After one week, looking at Sprint.com, I see nothing to indicate that I will be charged for the use on the other networks.

If it still is going to happen, that is GREAT.  That will make B-41 usable for me in quite a few spots.   I think it was mentioned that they might just try to use HPUE and not 25/41 upload aggregation.  Maybe that was just a thought or maybe I am imagining that I saw it.
